Car won't start without turning headlights on. Please help.

    G'day,

Ive got a 99 civic sedan b16a2 with a turbo. Just last night my car would not start. The engine did not crank and would only hear the clicking noise when I turn the key which I assume is the starter motor. Whilst attempting to start my car some random came to my aid and said to turn my headlights on and give it ago. Too my luck it started to crank and the car started. Ever since I have been turning my headlights on when starting the car.

Has anyone had this issue before or give advice?

    Cheers.

Haha what! No idea why that would help but as you Had power and where just hearing a click I'd guess that the starter solanoid is shagged, but that's just a guess off the info provided.

Clicking starter motor is generally insufficient power to crank the motor
As for the headlights on - there is a old wives tale that in the winter with a cold/frozen battery you run your lights on to "warm up" the battery electrolytes. It may very well be true on a old tired battery like yours

    Get a new battery

It was the starter motor. Replaced it and it starts up every time. Cheers.
