Hey Brett give us an update now you have had the coils for a while, what's your thoughts on them now? Still good? Any issues slowly appearing?

Been thinking a lot...lol

I've lowered the car just once since installing,so it sits lower than the pic above.I have learnt the trick is to get your LCA's,both front and rear perfectly flat,this is 'perfect alignment'.

That's what I need to do now,fine tune it.

I have been playing around with the damper and have eliminated a lot of the understeer but not all and that's what I want to do.

I can get the LCA's perfectly flat with some time by taking a photo on flat ground of the front and rear underneath including the LCA's,put it in photoshop and put a straight line acroos it,figure out if I need to go higher or lower and make the adjustment.

And after I do that I can further play with the damper settings to eliminate understeer,get it to the best I can then get a proper wheel alignment.

OR I can corner weight the car.

But say I set it up as 60/40 weight ditribution front to rear or whatever,is that the answer ya know?..

Makes sense to me, it's not just an objective thing but also subjective. It comes down to one's driving style and how the connect with the car "the feel of it".

hahah ,

Well as you posted before trial and error is only way to perfect your car.

You cant expect ot slap on parts and hope its gonna all work out.

Every car is tuned differently as there is many parts that can differ, from the suspension used, the brand of tyres, the amount of camber set, weight of car, driving styles etc.

It's something you need to test out and figure foryouself.

Been thinking about hitting up the Gold Coast Meet Greet and Eat again haha, maybe can actually get more cars this time. Was heaps a fun though, laid back just chilling on the mountain. Meeting a whole bunch of people I pretty much haven't seen since.

There are some amazing roads out there, and the scenery is just amazing. Can't wait for this! Hope Beeza doesn't mind haha.

Also put down a deposit on some new tyres, was looking at Potenzas but eventually decided on Turanzas. Not quite as good performance but a bit better mileage overall, gotta think of the budget eh.

So 8am is early is it...? I was thinking more like 7am? Even then the sun is up pretty high!

Paid the final deposit on my tyres this morning, booked in for Tuesday morning so new tyres will have a couple of days to wear in. Sweet. Now just to win the 20 million lotto tomorrow night and I can lower it... wait I'd probably upgrade altogether heh.

And that funky swimming shirt I got that apparently doesn't let the UV rays through. Oh man I'm such a dad. And a big wide-brim hat. I got burnt something fierce two weeks ago sitting on the go kart track waiting for the races to begin, was hella fun but got toasted. Forgot suncream. :( We sat in the pits waiting to start more than we actually raced but damn it was so good. Shaved 2 seconds off my PB!

New tyres got put on this morning, perfect timing. Gives me a few days to wear them in and get used to them. So far just from the tyre shop straight down the highway to work but man is it smooth! The steering is noticeably lighter/easier. They are Bridgestone Turanza ER300 tyres and I get a $50 Myer voucher (https://www.catalogueau.com/myer/) too!

Don't really know where this post is going anymore. :thumbsup:

You asked for it so here is the list. I have been cracking since I got home to prepare for this. (Now I know why SHE is the stay-at-home all week!)

1. Quick vacuum car
2. Move chairs from Mrs car into Honda and strap in properly etc (2x)
3. Had to go do some groceries
4. Make peanut butter and honey sandwiches and other snacks all ready.
5. Pack everything up and ready to go (see below).

So here is the "everything" list to suit 5:

* Nappies
* Wipes
* Scented bags (for poo nappies)
* Spare undies/socks/shirts/shorts/jumpers
* Bib
* WATER WATER WATER!
* Snacks (as above in 4), incl. Cheese sticks, Tiny Teddy biscuits, banana, sultanas, dried strawberries and mango
* Books and Toys (if they get a bit bored in the car)
* Kiddies music CDs
* Gum Boots
* Towels
* Picnic Blanket
* Raincoats
* Teddies/Safety blankets (currently in use, will be bundled up in the morning)
* Soothing medicines
* Camera (Even charged the battery up)
* Window socks (to provide some shade and stop nasty UV rays)

I think that's it. Notice I haven't had a chance to fit in "wash my Honda" in there ha! Or pack anything for me yet!

Time to set the alarm and hit the sack!

The boys had a great time too Brett, Reuben was talking constantly about the "sore splinter" he got on his finger to mum like he was proud as. And Caleb was reading a book in the afternoon (well looking at the pictures) and there was a picture of a dog. So he was pointing to the dog and barking (cause that's what dogs do) and then he got all serious and started holding his shorts where the puppy had been chewing on his shorts, he remembered! Boys! Love 'em.

What was the puppy's name? I asked Reuben if he knew and he said no. Then he goes "I know, I think we'll call it Hinnie!" Don't know where that came from but that's what we're calling it anyway. :thumbsup:

I think of it like this. If I didn't have 50kg of boys/seats/"the list", and had stripped my interior a bit to reduce weight, and had sporty suspension on there. Then instead of being "just" behind you all I would have been "just" ahead of you all. :p

Can U see it,there's the branch,only a single branch that was from the original tree,the rest is mistle toe,more than likely it was spread by a bird who has put the seed or small plant on there and it has paracitised the tree and is living paracidically off that tree!

From Auto 1,Yes it's excellent! Highly recommend it.

Not sure of the viscosity rating,the bottle is at home atm..

Its terrible !

Majority of people use 0-40, 5-30 10-40 for NA 4 cylinder.

What you are using is way too thick.

I use Castrol Edge 5-30 for my civic as its only a D series, but for my Type R I use Castrol Edge 0-40

You're engine will be running more sluggish also with that thickness.

I'm hopeless with oil's Alexx,guess I just never learnt...lol...too thick aye,damn.I heard a 'clunk' in the engine when i turned it off this morning,U know that sound older cars can make when U turn them off? just once 'clunk',I had never heard that before and it got me wondering why,maybe it's the oil then?

Damn,it feels sooo thin in the bottle,like real easy to swish around in the bottle...

I just some 10W-40 Nulon,6L for $66.

I need to make myself a bit clearer too...When i first put the oil in I filled it 1cm below the full mark and felt good,I topped it upto the full mark and it didn't feel as good BUT up high the car is more reponsive.I won't change it just yet! Maybe a case of getting the levels right (but doubt it!) :)

I swapped in the 10-40.Car runs much better!

U know when the FITV fouls up,the car surges? It was doing that with the thicker oil.

yeah if you havent flushed the oil properly, do an early oil change at around 3000-4000kms.

IT is not recommended to run mixed engine oil ratings.

Also a good oil filter is reocmmended each change, OEM has never had any probs.

Yeah man, every car has it's own history eh! I think actually that's about 15000 I've put on this car now since I've had it.

She still pulls strong for a stocker. Only thing is I'm chasing the most minor of radiator coolant leaks, it only shows up when I've been VTECing hard for a bit, it'll drop a few drops (literally) on the road. If I drive like a granny everything is perfect. I'm thinking I might have to get Red Devil Radiators to give it a good pressure test and it will eventually show up for them, see if they can pinpoint it and fix it up. My dad helped me tighten all the clamps we could find but it's still doing it and he's overseas at the moment.

New tyres seem to be getting better and better, had to go to the shop last night in the rain, and I can definitely feel the difference around round-a-bouts in the wet, even when I wasn't pushing it very hard at all.

If it's an F series, keep it stock IMO. Not worth it for minimal gains.

H22a or C27 is another story. I'd like to try driving an Accord with a V6 C27a.

Actually if I could justify the spend, I'd be driving a V8. Rego/fuel/insurance all add up unfortunately.

It is 2.2L SOHC w/ VTEC yo!

EDIT: Unless I'm really, really wrong! Which is very rare (but has happened once).

I noticed you mentioned 350 for the swaybar kit. Don't forget that you need an ASR subframe brace -that's another 270. You absolutely need it, otherwise ur subframe will get ****ed.

It's definitely the way to go in my opinion, Brett's car is a classic example. Very nice attention to detail in the handling department, it is the standout attraction that makes me love his car so much. More than the performance, more than the looks (although they both are important and Brett's car has ++ in both those areas as well). And more than the automatic gearbox as well. :D

Once handling is 100% improved, then you also have the added benefit of knowing that you can throw whatever performance it will take at it. As opposed to big grunt V8 engines with supercharger, it is too much power and the car can't handle corners all that well anyway. Takes the fun out of it in my opinion. Fast in corners > fast in straight line.

I disagree Troy, the car handles pretty well. It's a VTi-R not a CXi. It has CTR front and rear sway bars and firmer springs rates than EK1. While most dudes slam their car immediately, I don't subscribe to that.

And a supercharged v8 with a good suspension setup can be nice in the twisties believe me. You think V8 supercars don't handle well? I get your point though, it's just a bad analogy.

The B16a needs a bit more go, and a full exhaust will cost me less than half that of decent springs and dampers (not to mention bushes). It could really use the extra 10-15 or so HP.

Also I'm up in the air about whether or not I'll get a better car next year. Springs and dampers are harder to install/uninstall, so they are more difficult to part out of the car upon sale time compared to an exhaust.

I wouldn't buy coilovers for that price. Problem is I value ride comfort. Good dampers and springs can get nice handling without compromising comfort too much. It's my daily car remember.

Cheap coilovers (unlike expensive $3K+ ones) are HARSH, no matter how you adjust them! I've had 1st hand experience with my mate's cars. It would make life very uncomfortable on Brissies crap streets and roads. Cheap coilover are good for the track, but shit for daily driving.

When you install ur coilovers, you'll know what I mean. Your missus will whinge from a sore arse LOL.

Maybe you can get cheap coilovers that don't rattle your bones, but I am yet to find them. That's my experience and what I've heard from others anyway.
