No worries will leave them then. He dropped the price pretty easily too. Plus he is newcomer (can't make a for sale thread) and is refusing to at least make an ebay auction, and demanding direct deposit only. Doesn't leave me anything to cover my own hairy bottom in case of a sale gone wrong.
On the positive side, I am looking at ordering brakes soon. :)
On the negative side, it will cost me lots. $$$ Someone donate for a good cause? :D Also clutch seems to have a leak somewhere. Suddenly felt different the other day and when I checked the reservoir it was empty, I could still see the fluid in the line, just none in the reservoir. So I topped it up again, pumped it a bit but it's still doing weird things. Need to get it checked out and leak fixed properly, then probably new clutch fluid properly bled.
Ah well, it goes with having an old model car I guess.

Hey Troy. I'm gonna do front brakes soon. I've found that you can buy RDA rotors from ebay for about 120 a pair. Pads wize, I just go Bendix. Nice 'n cheap. Unless your setup is really hardcore, it's all you need.
Unfortunately it seems your car is in the twightlight of its life it seems. Maybe it's time to say goodbye to it. Do you know what I mean? After a certain mileage/age a car becomes a major liability.

Yea, their condition is very good all round. Driver's has a slight imperfection on left shoulder from being transported from Japan, but overall they are very schmick. Might need a slight clean, but they're complete plug and play for the EM1. Stocked!

I know exactly what you mean, but sadly I am not in a position financially to do anything about it right now.
Just need to make my break with work and start getting a more fitting salary for the work I do. Definitely should happen within the next two years I reckon.

I've got the sr3s! So far I've just put in one. Gotta get onto insurance and engineering just to be safe, then I'll chuck in the other one.
http://i56.tinypic.com/veotud.jpg
Warning if you want sr3s, they are tight in the hip area. I have a size 32 waist and it's ok, but a bit tight. Turning around when reversing is a bit of a bitch. With the low driver's rail, I have an extra 10 or so cm between me and the roof (head used to nearly touch the roof in the stock seats).
As uncompromising as they are, I like the fact that now I'm low to the floor and feel spot on in touch with the handling.

don't think i'd fit in sr3s. :(
Maybe not me either... hmmm. But I do want to sit lower. When I sit in my Accord the right side of my hair is hitting the roof and the left side isn't because that's where the sunroof gap is. So I kind of slouch a bit which is uncomfy. Maybe if I just shaved it completely off...

I remember looking at this thread quite some time ago, big things have happened with your car Beeza!
Its looking good, and it is forcing me to consider getting off my ass and getting more done to my little EK hatch.
It looks like you guys in Brissy have a good little group coming together, i'd like to see something more like that in Sydney.
Keep it up!
Extra lovin' for Brett's car. It's so good!
mikey72

somebody slap me. considering getting an EK hatch. but i dont wanna lose the cl9. WHAT DO I DO?
Get both.
I love the EK sedan. Hatch is nice too but sedan is preferable. At first I never did, but it's all Brett's fault, he has such a fine example you can't help but like them! :D

What does Sal think of them?

Seats are sick as! I'm lovin' them so much. Sally doesn't mind them, no complaints so I am happy.
They make a big difference in handling and feel. Feels like I'm in a race car now :)
Gotta get them mod-plated this week, possibly tomorrow after work.

Is that a road to the dam?
Looks like it is going behind Brett's caravan up the hill. Loving the little fire thingo...
Just need the carpark smoothed out a bit more and we can all park there when we cruise down to yours bud! Well I could park anywhere with my current 4WD spec, but Brett it looks pretty difficult for your slammed beast! Cruise to Brett's!
And what's this, some more doggie lovin! Gotta bring the boys down again sometime soon, nothing better than a good visit to the Australian bush. They talk about it forever afterwards!!!
I hope you have been worming your dogs often.

So they don't get worms I guess?
Well considering they are in the bushlands often they are more prone to ticks/fleas and diseases.
Don't tell me you havent wormed them since you've owned them???

I tell ya he's one tuff dog!!! His Mum and Dad are tuff bushdogs, especially crystal his Mum,she's never had anything ever and when I go over to visit she's always got a couple of massive ticks on her.
Woody had 25+ parasidic ticks on him when he took of down the street when he was very young.
He was found down the street,he couldn't walk.
He stayed overnight at the vets.
He came good but it was close they said.

Great meet today guys. I' had a great time b-blastin and driving the Bat. I take my hat off to you mate, after practicing and studying my handling I can say hands down that u r car's suspension setup is spot on. It feels awesome, so predictabe and clinical. It inspires confidence in the corners. The EM1 is my daily streeter, hence my sussy setup. I think it a good compromise for Brissie driving. but your's is set up for the track. Tweed valley was is also so different to mountain roads my way, you have so much room on your road.
It was an awesome journey on the quadbike today. That thing is fun and it was good to discover the property on a properly levelled track. I admire woody for his perseverance, we fanged it and he still kept up.
Here's some pics:
Mt warning from the top of the property. It was such a clear day today. I loved the nature cleansing me of my cold.

Yes,will definately come up mate!
Beautiful day today aye! It's the weekend WOOT WOOT
Been a very busy week at work. Love the weekend aye Brett, so good!
Somehow though, I managed to fit in sourcing a replacement clutch hose and got that all fixed up, so no more leaks now. Also today put on RDA slotted rotors pair on the front. 20 minute run on the highway with just light braking to start bedding them in, and noticed a difference already! They grab so much more quicker than any brakes I've ever had on my car before. Once they are fully bedded in (1000km I hear) I'm gonna give them some serious stopping use and see how good they go!
Just saw a sticker on the back of a skip removal truck:
"Satisfaction guaranteed or your rubbish returned"
Hahahaha :D

Great job on the brakes, gota love good stopping power!!
I got some front wheel bearings installed,$400 all up.Car feels solid as.But the small movement in the wheel is still there, worked out the tie rod end just needs an adjustment, then a wheel alignment.
Oh well, the bearings feel great anyways! :)

And gettin' a nrg steering wheel finially WOOHOO!

These things are cheap at $120,I found out it was a bit exxy to do this, but this is the answer!
I will/should gain a bit of stability being a bit wider. We'll see if it's noiceable..
Should look much better, may have to tuck the strip of metal under the fender there,it's gonna be close/tucked!! WOW!! :)

Hey Beez.
I've been reading up on handling, and I've dialled back my rear dampening. With a coupe or a sedan, you have that rear end which makes a difference with weight distribution. You can really feel that rear. I realised this from driving my mate's Del Sol, it has stock sussy and swaybars but seems fairly well balanced. It's much more like an EG hatch than an EK sedan or coupe.
I dialed the rear back 1/4 and it feels good. 1/2 front, 1/4 firm rear. At low speed suburban driving, a firmer rear lets you throw it into corners at low speed real easy, but at speed, you want more balance. Since I did this, it feels much more like your car. I'm really enjoying the car for what it is, and lovin' it.
As I always try to say, enjoy what you've got, and if it ain't broke, dont fix it ;)

4 sure mate.... my latest suspension setting is awesome, so much balance, w/ no more uneasy weight transfer. I can take corners more confidently on my fave mountain Rd (20km/h higher than before!)
Bad news is my front lip suffered a nasty scrape on my terrible driveway yesterday. Some of the visible front part paint is flaking revealing black plastic ... sigh. Guess it's time to sulk :(

So far then, we got the weekend coming up (possibly too soon notice for some) - 20-21 August

Woody and the black duck we brought up since real little just became best friends!!
They just play together...Woody is learning how lol
So many lives have been lost on TVW..lots of crosses but more than anything lots of minor accidents lol I've seen a few and new dents in the guardrails/part of the guardrail missing,it happens a lot I reckon aye :)
Thank U.
I drove Timmy's car today,man it was FUN,WOW! Too good! :)
Must be a cool duck if it lets a dog play bite it lol looks like hes having a good munch on its neck lol.
Just notice that 2 of the people would of only been 12-13 years old when they died on that corner which is unfortunate, bit too young to go....
beeza

Yeah true a bit young aye..but each soul has a 'karmic resonance profile'.
They are learning to play lol I think the duck is lonely after losing his/her partner 2 months ago.
Brett you need to explain to the duck that Woody is a dog. And it probably wouldn't work out long term.

Your SS will halve in value in 2 years. Owning a Holden for 10 years = lots and lots of things to replace and fix. The reliabilty and quality is just not there.
I would suggest something Jap and turbo. WRX/s15 or an ITR. You don't have wife and kids, just get a coupe.

F that. My mates dad (this guy is loaded) had a $90,000 Monaro that was an utter lemon straight off the factory floor. Clutch failed 3 times in the 3 years he owned it. Sold it. Bought an R8 next. Same thing. For the price you pay for a brand new car, the thing was utter shit. 90% of the car is plastic, and the finish of the interior is disgustingly poor. Not to mention the abundance of terribly workmanship in the exterior of the car.
And we're not talking about the average family sedan here. These are top-of-the-line flagship models.
I don't mean any offense Mikey, at the end of the day it's your money so spend it how you wish :) But I GAURANTEE you, the 'fun' of the SS will fade very quickly when it's giving you constant grief. Mike's advice was best: stick to something japanese.
If your after mire power/torque, how about a Legend? Or even the Accord with the big 3.6 V6 ;)
eg5civic
01-09-2011, 04:20 PM
Lol something more fun? How is an SS fun? Unless you determine fun as an overpriced fuel guzzling v8 people mover which has been given the title of a "sporty" car. As said above, resale value is shite with them.
I'm sticking with jap cars. Bought myself an rb25det c33 laurel. And I'll have fun smoking ss's 15 years newer in something with half the capacity

@ Mikey, Alex is right. That story about the Monaro (or similar stories about GM) are not at all uncommon. Falcons are more reliable and their new Coyote V8 shits on the SS. Still, both GM and Ford are unreliable compared to Jap cars.
What's wrong with the Accord? That car will last you 10 years easily with next to no issues. You haven't even done 1 proper mod yet. In stock form it's a boat. Do some handling mods and you will be smiling.
Sure, I love V8s. But I wouldn't get one due to high fuel, rego and insurance. It is a complete waste of money. 10 years ago, maybe, when rego was cheap and petrol was 70c a litre. Do the math, get the quotes. You'll be living with the pares for the next 10 years spending everything on your Commie.
But at the end of the day it's ur choice. Even an SS will get owned every time by a 2.0L Rexie. (hint..hint)

They are telling people that cancer it almost a certainty when they get older in Tokyo. The people of Japan are under fire, they are suffering.

Been gettin' a few things done to the car, which has been fun.I always enjoy playing, especially when there's a very nice road quietly waiting next door :)
I used a Claybar on the car.Such a must out here in the bush,2 times/year.
The lower mesh grill was coming off, fixed that.
Spray painted the wiper (on the car lol)
Timmy's coming ova today and we will install the rear 4pt in my car and Front lower 2pt in his.And he installed the c-pillar brace yesterday! Looking forward to the 4pt as the front is real stiff now with the 3pt,so the car NEEDS the 4pt to balance it.I felt that when I bought em',so I got em' both!
In 2-3 weeks, will get the Skunk2 IM WOOT WOOT!!
I will keep the stock 56mm TB and just bolt it strait on.It's dyno proven on d-series that more useable power is made with the stock tb vs a 60mm tb.
There's the issue of the 'reverberation step'... It should not be port matched, the IM should be 2mm larger than the tb..
The Skunk2 IM is 65mm.So that is a difference of 9mm which means the Skunk2 IM is 4 1/2mm larger than the tb..
But if you look at the back of the tb,the parts that touches the IM,it is not 'solid',it is broken up because of all of the air passages, over half of it,so I will just leave it and not touch it.I mean I won't bother using a file and making a step unless thier seems like there's an issue there.
haha I put in a google image search and my photo was there:
The back of the d16y4 tb (http://www.google.com.au/imgres?q=d16y4+throttle+body+back&hl=en&gbv=2&tbm=isch&tbnid=QVt_WQyFgdSyUM:&imgrefurl=http://honda-tech.com/showthread.php%3Ft%3D2947986&docid=RMlXyDisHPM2XM&w=619&h=464&ei=gQWFTryRIqOZiAf3tbCjDw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=980&vpy=91&dur=1791&hovh=194&hovw=259&tx=132&ty=117&page=2&tbnh=143&tbnw=201&start=15&ndsp=15&ved=1t:429,r:4,s:15&biw=1280&bih=681)

With regards to Lakeside, I have to give it a miss, I'm cash strapped... saving for Korea trip in December. I should be keen for QR in January tho'
I will come and watch on NOV 11 however (after work, i can be there 1 ish.)

I thought u had moved onto the Holden V8 forums or something! If you haven't, get a WRX, that's what I'm saving for.... Ive test driven a few and all I can say is like, wow! V8 slayer!!!
I'm well man, starting to save cash, trying to work hard and all. I'm going to Korea in December with the wife, so Ive just budgeted for that... now I just gotta save save save.

Hey Mikey!! Still got the accord man?
And @Mike, what model you thinking of getting Mike? My mates got a black 05 model, it's really nice! You might interested to know that my car with I/h/e is pretty much on par with his (apart from off the line launching, Subaru AWD owns). I'm confident once mine is tuned I'll be quicker.
But the WRX has buttloads of torque that's for sure. They pull so nicely from about 2500rpm :D Perfect daily cars that provide a lot of fun and satisfaction!
damn i gotta check this thread more its like the goldie chat thread, i'm so jealous of your trip to japan beez, i cant wait to get on tradesman wages and go on a holiday there and bring back a shit load of goodies for my cars XD
also here as some pics of the laurel, no more 4 stud, the equips are on the civic, i've gone 5 stud now, so looking at some 17 x 9/9.5 +15/+17/+20 rims, anything in gtr offset really
before the motor went in, bought it as a shell with a rb25det, got a 25det box on it now too
http://i845.photobucket.com/albums/ab13/eg5civic/IMG_0153.jpg
motor in the bay, love the bigger chassis of this car, as they had rb20's from factory so you have alot of room to work with compared to an s chassis
http://i845.photobucket.com/albums/ab13/eg5civic/IMG_0155.jpg
this was when i put the equips on the rear, its pretty low, will probably raise it a touch as it'll be my daily, as well as my skid rig XD cant wait to skid it
http://i845.photobucket.com/albums/ab13/eg5civic/IMG_0145.jpg
I'll have to kick darryl up the butt about coming out for a visit

Yea mate, maybe I'll get a classic GC8 or a MY02 (shorter gear ratios than 00 and 01) as I love the look of the bug-eye. GC8 is older and floppier but has the advantage of power vs weight. Ive driven a fair few and the mix of turbo and AWD is really addictive. My budget will be about 13k (give or take, but that's how much they go for these days). I plan on a stock, possibly 1st owner car. U've seen my EM1, I'm in no hurry... I'll wait until I find a mint one. It's also good that the WRX is the best-selling sports car in Aus, unlike DC2 and EM1 they are a dime-a-dozen.
My dad used to be a member of the Subaru 4WD club when I was a kid, I feel that Subie is in my blood. I love the difference of the boxer engine, the power and ram-raid history. That's where I see my journey going.
After that, I'll definitely go back to a Honda. I'll always love the vtak, the slick gearboxes, styling and the overall premium feel of a Honda.
@ Mikey, WRX is more bag for buck than EVO and u can't beat the boxer exhaust note. The Japanese call it "Boru-boru"
Life is good man, missus is happy and so am I.
Not to say I'm not getting love from the EM1. I still love it. It looks sex, never skips a beat and I'm gonna take her out on the track for a practice day before I part with her. If she had the guts of a WRX, there's no way I would ever part with her.

my motto is handling mods 1st and engine mods later. But for sure, EJ20 has extreme modding potential.

So heres what Ive been thinking about doing lately.
1st, Ive just ordered new front rotors, and will get pads on the day I do it. Old ones are still holding up, but getting close to cactus.
2nd, the T1Rs at the front are at the wear indicator, so new tyres, and may as well get some new rims. Ive been trying to hit Timmy up for his as he's selling his EG. If not, ideally I'd like Lan's white Regamasters, but more realisticly, I'll probably get some good used P1Rs.
3rd... I have been entertaining the thought of selling my Eibach Pro kits and getting Ground Control coilover sleeves with Eibach Sportline (I love my Eibachs + height adjustability would be awesome). Just a thought this one. Here's the link: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/4530-01-Ground-Control-Coilover-Springs-92-00-Honda-Civic-EG-EK-/230675663758?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35b5574b8e
So Ive still got some plans for the EM1 before I go hunting for a GC8 'rex
