Hey Hondafd where was the place that you said they sell cheap bc br's?
Hey chrischris, when you sprayed your rims, do you spray the inside of the rims or just the outside? I wonder what it looks like if I don't paint the inside
It would be great if you have a close up photo of your white rims LOL. Cheers
Which rims you asking about?
The stock rims i didnt spray the inside, just the face of the rim, on the current evo8's i sprayed the inside, it looks better sprayed on the inside i reckon, ill see what photos i can find, as my wife is out with the car atm. I sold the stock wheels to Moro95, he might be able to get you some more photos.
The evo rims LOL but ok ill spray the inside. Did you spray the face first, wait for it dry and then spray the inside? Or just stand it up and spray? lol How did you do it?
Thanks for links lol. I don't wanna plastidip except it is glossy but I reckon it's not. Gonna look at the others when I get home LOL
Don't plastidip them. Its way more expensive then paint, the finish is not that great, in order for it to peel easily you need to do 2-3 heavy coats which means around 3-4 cans.
I did two coats on the face, after they dried for some time, i sprayed in 10 degree weather so dry time will vary. For the inside i just used a mild scuffing pad prior to rough it up a little(in the prep stage, before any paint), no primer though. Then I stood the wheel up and did a light coat on the inside, let it dry, then did a heavy coat to cover everything not worrying about runs in the paint just coverage, and then finished the face with a few more coats.
I had to spray the inside since the hub of the wheel is really big and would look bad if not painted completely from behind

Yeah that's the one im looking at. The guy hasn't replied yet..
That hurstville one is the guy who sold my mate the carbon lip pretty sure
Parting out and selling my car soon. Would anyone know or be interested in a 9th gen vti? Would be willing to sell slightly cheaper for ozhonda members :)
"Too fast too furious" hahaha. Anyway, why don't you try to change the exhaust, throttle controller, intake...., still good enough for speeding and feeling
Any Sydney people going the the cruise tonight?
Quick question: is the k20 from the type r's a straight swap into the fd2 sport? Thinking of my options and friend suggested this option
ORRRR Turbo K swap. Best of both worlds lol
DAN, I dont see why it wouldnt be hard to do. Get a K20 from an FN2R, JDM 6 Speed and Hondata. Shouldnt be too hard.
I think Josh at SleepingPerformance quoted me $7,000 - $10,000 for K24 + Box and stock computer. Drive in and out.
Fitted and supplied.
I booked him a month in advanced for lightweight pulley installs, and on the day before the appointment, I called him up to double confirm, and he tells me he can't do it because he's going to Winton. I didn't appreciate the lack of communication and notice. Needless to say, I didn't bother booking in another time.
He's over rated just cause he's on the forums
Fanboy-ism
Hory shit
Lol Damn... Josh was fine with me when I came in.
This was a while ago though. Dunno what he is like now.
SPMR best in market atm
Neptune best in market atm
Hehe
Hey chrischris and honda_FD, can you give me some info about how a throttle controller helps FD2? Mine has a lag as I rev, not sure if this is the same as yours though.
Is installing it hard? LOL Cheers
Basically a throttle controller tells the ECU you're pressing the accelerator harder or softer than you are.
E.g. you could be pushing it down 20%, but it will tell the ecu you're pushing it down 50% etc.
Installation is relatively easy as well.

Yeah, What lolmclol said. I dont have one. Have heard good feedback from people that has them installed in their cars (IOU & NedKerry)
Might invest in one in the near future.
Go invest in a catback, somehow mine eliminated the throttle lag comparing to my friend who has a exhaust axle back on his.....
Oh, thanks. So does it get rid of the lag? So my accelerator pedal is more sensitive? I just want to get rid of the lag and keep everything the same. Is that possible?
LOL its cheap. Only $150 max
As another ozmember said :"The car feels more lively and dollar for dollar this is a must have device.".
Thats all i want to say about my 3 drive pivot throttle controller as well. 5 mins to install and then have fun. Specially with Honda_FD it is more worthy when he already has the exhaust system ;-) hahaha
Just re-iterating what everyone has already said, you technically will never remove the lag, but you'll improve the response. But for your everyday driving, you'll notice a significant difference in the way the car feels.
Yes, it essentially remaps the throttle and you can adjust to make it more or less sensitive. It's a 5 minute job to install.
Don't bother with a CAI or SRI if your aim is to improve response - I did the ghetto CAI and despite the engine running slightly cooler, it lags a little more. I have to fit the resonator back on.
The exhaust and lightweight pulley kit are the last "performance" mods I'm doing so I'm hoping that will yield some good results for acceleration and response.
Wow good to see this thread is still going! Hows everyone been wit dere fdzors?
Nah man, my car is stock in terms of performance. Nearly done with cosmetics, now I'm going to get mods for performance, cheap ones first of course LOL, can't afford a swagzorst atm. This lag is so annoying when I downshift and rev match, and start from an uphill
Suggestion of what to purchase? LOL
Just being a povo alright?? have considered converting mine to a manual actually though.. But then would have to save money opposed to selling the car and having the money for car and other misc stuff lol
Should just be done with it and buy a s2k
alright sweet thanks! Wanted to see where I can leave things temporarily and getting back to them so i dont cheap things out if i ran out of money or something
When you're on a slope. and you need to launch quickly. Do petal to the metal and let off the clutch as fast as you can.
No lag and you will do a burnout and leave with style. Cause #YOLO
Lol jokessss Im sure the throttle control will help a lot.
Yesss!! S2000 and come pick me up!
My car is as loud as a Screaming Child :)

Only did two. Gonna do the rest during the week. I got a spare wheel so no worries LOL. And I don't know how to paint the centre cap, ended up masking them off anyway
Got some paint the on front tyre as well. Ran out of masking tape at the time. I dont know how to get rid of them. I hope it will flake off as I drive, or just black permanent marker LOL
I did the centre caps on my stock rims, looks better i think, just sand them a bit, and after you spray it white, put a sticker on the middle, something like this http://i.imgur.com/CNd3tcX.png
bit hard to see the decals, cant find any close up shots

regarding spraying the inside, you can see in this picture that it is very noticeable if you do it or not

Jprak's too legit to quit
Swag swag ~ ~
LOL nah man, I fked up hard in that paint job. Show us your DRL!
Are those stickers from canada? I think i've seen them, looks funny to me. I ended up ordering a set from an EP3 site in UK, I'll cancel it if someone can show me where to buy in Australia. I sprayed the centre cap today without sanding, there were wrinkles developed LOL guess ill sand them all off tonight. Got 1 more wheel to go
I don't know how you managed to sprayed one wheel with one can LOL. I didn't spray the inside and one can barely lasted it. I had to do 5 coats for an even and white coverage. I guess the EP3 rims have gaps that are hard to reach, that's why I had to waste a lot paint. So yeah made the right choice LOL. See how it turns out. And I always run into a problem where I spray a heavy coat of clear and the base coat seems to fade off at the area with heavy clear. Any explanation? I can't help it but feel if I don't spray the clear heavy enough, I won't have a glossy finish
The stickers i linked aren't the ones i got, i could't find the same item for sale anymore, you can get the stickers printed at the market if you don't want to order online, in VIC at caribbean gardens you could get a set printed for around 20$ cause they charge 5$ for a small sticker, and it takes 10-20minutes.
Maybe you didnt spray thick enough but from what i remember 4 cans were enough. When i did the rims blue i found these rustoleum 2X cans at bunnings, they have amazing coverage, i did one wheel in 2 coats.
I dont really know what would cause the base to fade, maybe wait longer before the clear. Do a few passes with a heat gun if its cold temperature, below 14 degrees.
On the stock rims i didnt use clear and they dired rough, when i did 2 heavy clear coats on the blue rims i got a nice smooth finish
Nah man, I waited overnight for the base coat to dry, just clear coated this morning. But yeah, no idea. Oh well, too late now. The paint job is ok, only those fading base made it look dodgy
I have those rustoleum cans as well. Used it for my grill. You bought all your paint from bunnings? They arent for automotive, I heard. But they're pretty much the same price as automotive paint so idk. I heated my cans very well before spraying. Dipped in boiling water, blow dry and shake for 10 mins, etc.. The paint came out nice and even. But it's too nice, there was always a mist of flying paint every time I spray. Seems unhealthy LOL.
Haha, I agree with the smooth finish. I just spray the pressure hose at it and all the dirt flew off where as the stock rim with mat finish didn't get cleaned enough.
yeah i did my wifes wheels with automotive paint but the results are the same as the bunnings paint, they are both enamel based. I dont know how it would hold up long term, if the paint will chip and flake off, lol, so far so good.
Some after work fun...
Incase you guys wanted to hear my car from the inside with windows up.
