Do you shift at 2500rpm when in D or in tiptronic? If it is tiptronic, you shouuld shift at 3000rpm instead. Using lower RPM but giving more throttle just lugs the engine and consumes more fuel.
Autos typically consume 12L/100km. And a 10-15 minute trip is very short. That's probably the reason for your high fuel consumption

I'm getting 10.9l/100km these days. Mostly city driving, auto, 95ron, lead foot from time to time, 2yr old/40,000km's. The biggest saving on fuel I've found is the air con. Don't use that and there's 30km's extra per tank right there.
Jazz: stock, K&N panel filter.
120 Series Prado GXL Petrol: Pacemaker extractors, Dual 2 1/4" exhaust, 70 series MT STZ's, ARB non-winch bullbar, snorkel, Dimpled and slotted rotors.

lol weather these days in sydney how can you NOT use the air con to unfog your windows lol, im doing high 13L, low 14L's drives are yeah usually about 20 mins or so. car still new so that might be a reason also running at 98ron Vpower =/ if it makes any difference.

I find that the more you stab at the throttle, the higher the fuel consumption. If you squeeze into your throttle at the lights, I definitely see some improvement in fuel economy.

Hi guys,
I'm new here and get my new Euro Lux on Monday. I'm actually very surprised by the fuel consumption. My current Verada GTVI doesn't use much more than 12.5l when I'm heavy on the throttle and around 11.5 when I'm driving normal. My driving is 50% City and 50% Freeway. The reason for the Accord was actually a smaller engine and better fuel consumption.
I'll keep you up to date how I go with the Euro.

Well, I get 10.5 in 100% city and 7 in 100% freeway. That makes it 8.7.5L/100km for 50/50, still better than your verada's 11.5

6 months now and im 9.2 per 100km, thats m4 everyday from penrith to homebush, so good some days terrible others, alot of short trips on weekends adds to the consumption levels.
as aaron said making your engine work harder in a higher gear uses more petrol then lower gear, also i have found doing 130-140 uses less fuel then 110km i think becoause 110 is inbetween gears and not in the happy medium of enough power to sustain the speed. at gear 5's rev level. lowest i've gotten is about 7 after filling up on the motorway and cruising home.
the biggest surpirse is a quick spirt (not floor) then easing to a cruise consumes less then a slow longer continual acceleration. therea a fine line in there i tho

Fuel consumption
I am quite annal regarding fuel consumption and record all fuel added to an excel spread sheet. My Euro is a standard automatic and I drive with fuel usage in mind and excellerate slowly and never drive faster than the speed limit, but I do drive ON the speed limit. I have had the car from new and just done 20,000km in a year. Overall consumption from new is 7.468 litres/100km and from 15,000 to 20,000 is 7.086 litres/100km. I do very little city driving and my shortest run is aprox 25km most of it at 110kph on the Pacific Hwy.(no trafic lights). I drive down to the Blue Mountains (350k) every couple of months. I realise my driving is not typical, especially if you live and work in the city but it shows what and automatic can do on good long runs. My best for a tankfull on a trip to Queensland is 6.552 litres/100km.

autos are geat for long trips and even tho i dont do long trips that often, the daily stop start of the m4 is one reason i got a auto. I find an auto sucks more juice is when your inbetween gears and mild accelerating as it tends to stay in the higher gear and labour longer before downshifting.

Just got back from the south coast today.Trip comp.told me i was getting 6.7l/100kms!!Don't know how accurate it is!!
