Howdy All.Thanks for the warm welcome.I got my Civic 1 1/2 years ago and I've been spending the last 9 months on D-series.org and posting for about 4 months. That was my introduction to an internet Forum.Great bunch of funny guys! with a heap of knowledge. If ya havn't visited there yet I recommend it (but I'm sure most of ya have). It's good to be here chatin' with fellow Aussie's  .

NICE CAR. haha...i'm selling my one actually. u got all the strut bars done, how about suspension work?

Thanks mate.My rear lower bar is just a strut bar not a sway bay.How much better are sway bars compared to a strut bars on my model car?
I heard they can rip out if ya go over say a speed bump on an angle-twisting effect.
No suspension work yet :( .I was quoted $530 for a lower on King Springs. If I done this I would keep the stock shocks. If I can get some coilovers for a decent price I'd go that route but I don't wanna spend a heap.
More Pics,why not:

Good pics...I  pics.
I'd advise you to save up a bit more and go for springs/shocks combo or coilovers. You'll get a better ride and your back will thank you for it:p

Getting some sussy work WILL change your life ;) hehe. As for swaybars, its a bit of an issue on the EKs. Alot of issues with subframe tearouts so it will be an expensive upgrade.

But get some coilovers. $1300 for a set of 4 D2s, Complete coilover systems for that price were unheard of 2 years ago!

This is how I done the V-Tec Light. It's a Black lite and I used black tape to cover the light and cut out the V-TEC lettering and mounted it in the door. All wired to a seperate on/off button.Simple.

no offence but i think i've seen things move faster than your car in 400metre olympic events LOLOLOLOLOLOL kidding beeza, but wat was the time seriously lol?

beeza
30-04-2008, 03:13 PM
hahahaha True.
I got 19.5 sec,20.1 and 21sec...
I got worse as I went.I couldn't get the launches right cause my car has issues,it was bogging so hard.So I did something that you should NEVER do,I put it in N,revved it to 5k then dropped it in D.I knew I shouldn't do it but it was only a couple of times,I thought should be sweet.
Anyways 3 weeks later I was driving along and my power steering went...got home to find the crank pulley sitting on the splash guard.OMG!! The ps,a/c and alternator belts were just lying around in there too.
I snapped the keyway and the crank pulley bolt undid itself and came off.I put it all back together but there's a bit too much free play with the crank pulley now so I'm concerned the keyway may snap again...

dahon

More than likely the auto gearbox may f%#k up at the track so I'm thinking a d16y8 with cheap simple mods.Manual offcoarse :)

I haven't got $6-8 for a b18c7.I will be more than happy with the above.

hey man, very nice ride.

Im planing to put LED strips under teh seat and stuff. how did you go about doing that? i dont know my way around the car, so im still learning.

beeza
14-11-2008, 11:34 AM
Thank U!

The easiest way and the way I did is just cable tie the neons the under the seat.Mine were mounted under the front of the seat and they were able to be angled towards the front. Then run the wires down the middle under the middle console to a switch. The guys one here can help you with that or just take it to an auto electrician.10-15 minute job!

That's what I did.I'm just learning electrical stuff now, like how to use the multi meter etc

I will be keeping the front door trims on there because it's a bit dodgy for theft with the wire arms poking out...you could quite easily hook some of that blue packing tape on there to open the door PLUS the comfort of the front door trims for a daily is nice.
When I track the car, they can easily be removed

Sucks about ya knee.Health comes 1st offcoarse.

I thought about 2 pod filters too,I can't remember if I followed it through to find out if the idea works or not.If it did lots of cars would have the set up,so I doubt it does.I would to be prooved wrong though :p

You can get pod filters that flow around 1000cfm so there is no need for 2 as a honda head would never flow that much

Edit: A ported and polished K20 head can run around 330cfm

Diz44zy
18-01-2009, 04:31 PM
yeah mate i did notice a slight drop in performance, which was more pronounced at high-end revs.

I've been using ozhonda for background reading for awhile now and never introduced myself or my car. I might do this given that i will be confined to my bed for atleast a few more days.

beeza
18-01-2009, 07:56 PM
Shit yes! :)

Well - Welcome!! Get into it mate.

So a drop in performance eh.The parts all have to match and work together...good little experiment.

A good reason to give the head a -
3 angle valve job
machine a bit off it - On a d-series - 0.010" = 4hp and 4ft lbs of low end torque
R & R the valve seats
Port match the Intake and exhaust side to the Intake manifold and extractors

Wonder if the intake would work then?

I went to the Track for the first time!! WOOT WOOT!!

What a Day!!

After 4 1/2 hrs sleep,I got up at 6am,was out there at 8am (from gold coast) and on the track at 8.30am for practice!

I had an absolute ball! First time on the track!

I had a 40 minute session - 1/2 tank on fuel, then went and got another tank of fuel and
had another 1hr session.Only 2 other cars came out for 5 minutes twice,so I had the track to myself. It was bloody awesome. An endurance race

My car went so well,NO tow truck home

I went at it for 10 or so laps then did 2 cool down laps.Everytime I saw the coolant temp guage creep up,I would tell myself,OK next lap is a cool down lap but I just couldn't do it,I was having to much fun,1 more,1 more

The first corner (right) after the strait I was able to take at 130km.That was the limit of the suspension. The car did have a bit more power in it after flatting it down the strait,so I hooked into the corner at 135km,the tail came out and I slid sideways off the track for about 20m
I know the sprint guys hit that corner around 150km,Jamie in his little eg was hitting it at 160km
I lost the tail 2 more times at 90-100km.

Soooooo much fun!

I was really impressed with my car handling wise and even though it lacks grunt and is an automatic,it went bloody good.
I was able to approach the corner at say 110-140km,hard on the brakes (left foot) down to 80-90km,hook it in,keep ya foot slightly on the brakes and tap the accelerator a couple of times then when you hit the apex, off the brakes and on the gas whipping ya out. This worked the best I found.Does it sound right?
It's not easy,I understand now,but I felt I made good progress with the good track time I had.

Best Day eva!!

It's a copy and it works a dream.

I made this post in a thread.It's a good one :)

" If you want to get your engine up and running good cheap then you can do this yourself (Note: 3 years ago I knew nothing about cars):

This is just dealing with the running of your engine, not suspension.

- Use Subaru Upper engine cleaner every 2nd/3rd oil change
- Collaborate voltage on TPS (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=120191) sensor on the throttle body
- Clean/replace spark plugs and set gap correctly
- Check resistance in your leads is fine
- Clean contact points in the dizzy and lightly sand the rotor on the outer edge where it sparks on the contact points
- Adjust the Tappets (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15443&highlight=tappet+adjustment) - VERY IMPORTANT!
- Clean air filter OR replace with pod filter and good cold air piping/Cold air intake. The point is COLD AIR/air from outside the engine bay (Make sure you re-connect the IAT sensor on the new intake arm)
- Get a wheel/camber/toe alignment and check your tyre pressure is correct once a week
- Change the oil and oil filter (every 5000km's)
- Change the fuel filter every 2nd oil change
- Transmission oil is every 20,000km's
- Charge your battery to full
- Expell air in coolant system through the radiator
- Check for engine codes and get familiar with how to do it!
- And get used to doing regular checks of everything in the engine bay,I have found many problems like this! - Like bolts I forgot to do up!
- And check for air leaks everywhere, all the clamps on the intake, all the gaskets on the engine and all the gaskets on the exhaust system! Important! No use having the whole thing running 100% if it's just gonna lose it somewhere.
- Make your car as light as possible
- Use BP Ultimate 98 fuel only (1/2 a tank max at a time if your keen)
- Just a small amount of windshield water too!
_ Also for $40 an injector (well worth it) you can get the spray pattern and flow rate adjusted correctly
- Also look into advancing the timing 2-3 degrees.
- Insulate your fuel lines - prevent the fuel from getting warm/hot

Do all that and your car will feel much better, then see if your satified,if not, another engine/car is in order

I think everyone should 'work with what they got' and learn first. Then you will know where you want to go afterwards! "

Hey Beeza, have you advanced your timing? results? (power and fuel economy)
Have you insulated your fuel lines? what with?

beeza
26-05-2009, 03:55 PM
I advanced the timing when I first got the car and I remember it liked it,so it worked for me!

I used that refridgerator tape to insulate the fuel lines,my mate had some lying around :)

imo, you won't gain anything by the FPR

It's good! I will have to test it...but I know it's good.I didn't have to pull anything apart to wrap the lines,I just wrapped everything I could see that was fuel but I wrapped a couple of others thinking they were fuel too cause I was a noob then :D

I could use a little help Bez, I've just got the new igniton installed how much can I advance my timing? I also have a fuel pressure regulator sitting round, would I gain anything from installing it and bumping the pressure?

I run 98 BP ultimate always and with the MSD system I was able to advance it 2-3 degrees and it run a bit peppier. This wasn't done on the dyno, just my mechanic did it and on the butt dyno it works!

Give MSD an email here (http://www.msdignition.com/troubleshooting.aspx),I will guarantee they will get back to you quickly!

To gain frome the FPR you really need to be requring fuel to be used,i.e. a bigger set up that demands more fuel and air and then dyno tuned to figure to best pressure to set it at.

I just put mine in and bumped the pressure up from 36psi (stock) to 40-42,even 44psi at one point and you definately notice a bump in power, anyone who has done this will know. But it comes at a price because running too rich for too long caused my 02 sensor and throttle body to foul up.I had lots of very annoying problems that I know were from running too rich for too long.

A lot of the time it just bogged or studdered/hesitated for a bit then took off.Just crap.

I think hang onto it and when your set up requires more fuel, then put it in and get it dyno tuned.

Thanks Jeff!! I love the pics of Dave and I together out there, the 2 EK1 Sedan's!! WOOT WOOT!!

This Kanji symbol is Makoto. It is a very powerful symbol and has many meanings like Loyalty, honesty, faith, sincerity, allegiance, fidelit y etc

The Makoto were Samurai warriors for the Tokugawa government in Japan (1603–1867).The Tokugawa were a good government,a government who were 'For the people' (It did exist!).The Meiji government,or the foreign invasion occoured in 1863.The foreigners came and simply took over. The only ones who went down fighting were The Makoto, the samurai warriors. And fight they did!! For the last 4 years of the Tokugawa, the Makoto fought for Truth. From the bottom of Japan to the top of Japan the streets were teaming with blood from the Makoto's blades. Many times Kondo Isami would have to change his sword because the metal was rusting from the hundreds of men that died from his sword skills. He was a master of many sword styles at a very young age.

Check out the Makoto, some say it's the most important piece of human history because of what it stood for,in terms of human will power, standing up against what is wrong.

When you break/translate the symbol down,it translates as:

Warrior for the Truth OR Warrior for the Light.

I was drawn to this character (it was in an autobacks store :) )when I was in Japan. It was a wonderful experience that solidified who I am.

2 storm fronts meeting,it was pretty awesome, there was constant rumbling then every 5 minutes it would just go K-RACK! BANG! it hammered down for 30 minutes,I had to check if it was hail a couple of times,it wasn't,so I went out and washed my car in it,very refreshing! :)

That is seriously an awesome property you got there, nothing better than the peace and quiet of a good spot of land like that. One day I'm going to have something like that for when I retire.

And it's gonna have a tractor :D

Oh yeah, nice Honda too.

The 1st and only Japanese animation (apart from Haiyo Miyazaki films) is or was Urotsukidōji - Legend of the Overfiend and it scarred me.the scence that did it was when this guy was having sex with this lady and his johnny turned into a snake and busted out the top of her head.Farkin' twisted sh!t.

I wanna make one of these - a front splitter for the track:

For my car,for the track :)

http://i570.photobucket.com/albums/ss141/beeza9/100_1307.jpg

They make a BIG difference. After watching Top gear, they competed in a 24 hour race. After a few hours the front splitter got ripped off and the car handle bad.So at speed on the track I believe they make quite a difference.

Oh man, I know that camera it's the fixed one at the bottom of Sexton's Hill, isn't it? Looks like it anyway, at Banora.

I was just watching some vids of yours on Youtube, mate looks like you have a lot of fun on the track. That spinout would have been pretty fun. Way to go.

Thanks Troy, yeah that's the one mate.I just spaced out and forgot to slow down.

I have so much fun out the track, can't wait till I can get back out there!

I've come a gutsa a few times now at QR and it's just a ball!!

Should get the accord out there :)

Troy
21-12-2009, 10:37 PM
I was there a few years ago for a photo shoot, had an XH series II falcon ute, she was good to me. I don't even remember the forum, I think it was utez.com.au? Anyway we all took off for a spin around the track, near the end of the second lap the brakes were just dead, no pedal feel and the whole front of the ute shaking like anything when I put my foot on the pedal...

So if I take the Accord out on the track, I'm having a major brake service first!

What with the christmas season and all, it would be a while before I have some spare $$$ to throw into a track day, that's for sure. But I'd definitely love to get it out there one day. :) Oh and also the fact I'm going go karting at Kingston Park on Sunday morning, that's always madness. I definitely can't get enough of the go karts out on the track! But it's an expensive sport and at the moment the money is going out faster than it's coming in, such is life.

Cheers man

I love karting too and have been meaning to get up to QR wednesday night for a bearl :)

Troy

Yes Kingston Park is reasonably close, just out a bit from the main highway at the back of Logan way, so up north a bit. I get the impression you're down south Gold Coast, I'm up north in Oxenford.

If you're bored and lonely on Sunday then come on up, I can get you a ride. If you want to go on the karts I have booked and paid the deposit so we need money upfront. I just wanted to turn up and ride however I think they're pretty busy over the holidays and so she made it a full group booking or something like that, otherwise we'll just miss out, so I need numbers as heaps of mates are going away over the break.

I can see it now "Family Go Kart Championship Battle Overrun by OzHonda" Nah who cares, the more the merrier I find when we're on the track. As long as I get to beat/race my bro and dad it's all good. If anyone wants to come let me know urgently and I'll see what I can do.

And it's a 15 year old car, just about everything is probably due for a service by now (again) except for the radiator as I just dropped a new one in, and I just had a tyre service - balance, align, nitrogen, vrooooom.

I just looked it all up, I don't see anywhere about needing a license to drive, all you gotta do is get to Oxenford and back, have enough to cover the fee (about $73 for two sessions) and I can do the rest for you.

By the way I had a look on the Queensland Raceway website, I can't see when or how much to take my car on, where am I looking? Let me know.

And for goodness sake, all them pictures you uploaded! Every time I load this thread... Just thank goodness I'm not on dial-up anymore!

Jeff@Trackattack organises the events, just click on track days and register for an event,it's that easy! -

It's $120 for the event, then ya need a licence which is $20 for the day or $55 for the year,so with petrol and food it's $220.

Well worth it but.

beeza
11-01-2010, 11:29 AM
haha, nah,I could do a hell of a lot more with 15k than make my car go faster..it goes fast enough for me.

Both L + R driveshafts are buggered.Where the inner and out part of the driveshafts meets at the CV joint,THAT is buggered, worn out/there's a lot of freeplay.

So both will be replaced wednesday.$165 ea + $120 install = $450.

It makes sense they are rooted cause that's the point where it takes all the punishment.I have been driving my car hard for 4 years. So it took a while really :)

Can't wait to get the new/reconditioned ones in there,I reckon I had a couple of niggling problems that stemed from there.Like a knocking that comes when the auto changes gears.

Will report the changes :)

I am getting the H Brace and Blue Illuminating dails in a week and will post pics.

I've decided to just go to Honda to get the Front LCA bushes put in.They will charge $160-$200.Rip off I know but ya need a special tool..

Going racing at Lakeside for the 1st time Thursday Feb 18 8am.Mixing it up with the mid week crew.Lots of fast cars but more a variance in speed than the weekend crew.

If I have time I wanna make a front splitter beforehand.

Psyched for the track!!!!!!!!!! :)

To air it out!

I bloody juiced up 2L of watermelon juice and I was taking around the corner to share with my neighbour, stopped at the bin down the bottom, sat it on my seat and said 'don't forget about it' - Got back in my car foot down, come to the end of the street, hit the brakes,2L of watermelon juice everywhere!!

The next day I went to Japan for 2 weeks and my car was locked up at the airport.

I cleaned it up best I could but lets just say it took a month for the smell to completely disappear.

It gets hot out there too,so I like to have air flowing through the car.The dust I can get clean off!

If ya free on thurs, fri or sat I will be chillin out there if ya wanna come say hello :)

Or else I'm sure we'll organise 'A day on the Farm' soon!

haha!

I'm thinking of making a front splitter like the one a couple of pages back.If I made it right I will just leave it on full time.

The idea was just for the track but...it would be sweet on there always,as long as it looked good.

Those black and white pics are awesome. I have to admit I really like looking at your car, it's very... not sure of the word. Perhaps "tasteful"?

beeza

Thanks mate,I was stoked with how the pics turned out,the car was dirty as aswell!

'Tasteful' - :) I really like that :)

I Love my car.I have had it for almost 5 years and I have been modding it since the start,up till now, just little by little with HEAPS of research, reading and looking at pics.Everytime I have done a mod,it has been thought out and decided upon and I love how I've done that and not just rushed at it.

I have been getting great enjoyment and pleasure out of modding my car and cutomising it to my liking and I'm stoked that all the mods have worked together to complete 'My car',ya know.

I am sick of spending money on my car and have got it to a point where I need to 'let go' of modding it.I obviously will need to spend money on things for my car but the 'buying eyes' have all but gone :)

FINIALLY!!! LOL

I want to just enjoy my car now for the completed car that it is and not have the nagging feeling to buy sh!t for it.

The Car is done Brett, just let go,leeeeet goooooo :)

WE did an oil change in Timmy's (ekcoupe's) car today,so she's running good!

If we have time well change the y7 to the y4 IM before the cruise!

That will be be a nice gain!

I've been juggling my plans with my car as usual :)

Have decided on putting in the stage 1 bisi cam and some Lightweight AEM tru power a/c and p/s pulleys. This will free up some power and allow the engine to rev easier/free-er.

Also I have a belt tensioner bearing noise @1500rpm.

Here's (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=97120) a thread from Aug 08'.Damn,I've had it that long LOL

Anyways finially going to Honda to get it sorted. This is what needs doing, thanks John! (ecu-man):

Hi Dude

this is Honda's solution

1. Connect the PGM tester to the vehicle

2. Start the Engine and allow it to reach operating temperature ( Radiator Fans should come on twice )

3. Remove the upper timing belt cover

4. monitor the engine temperature. When the temp decreases to 58degC, rotate the crankshaft five or six turns counter clockwise.

5. Set No. 1 piston at TDC

6.When the engine temp decreaces to 55degC, loosen the timming belt adjusting bolt 180deg. Allow the tention of the timing belt to automaticlly reset the tentioner position.

7. Tighten the adjusting bolt.

8. After adjustment, retorque the crankshaft pulley bolt to 181 Nm

9. On compleating the procedure, start then engine and allow it to reach operating temperature. Confirm the noise has been eliminated. Should the noise still be exhibited the above procedure in its entirety is required to be repeated.

I will assume you wont have access to the PGM tester or a HDS, so you can monitor the ECT voltage to determine the engine Temp

the below is from temp v voltage when looking at the HDS.

ECT voltage at 58 deg 1.44v

ECT Voltage at 55 deg 1.55v

good luck

John.

I joined 23-09-2006!

I'm still here!

Ozhonda has been preserved and kept a good/clean/friendly helpful site to come to and I Love that fact.

Ozhonda is well known on the net as a good friendly place to go and ask your questions and get your answers without the BS and I LOVE that fact!

BIG UP! to all the Ozhonda crew who have help maintain this level! WELL DONE GUYS!!

Ozhonda has been challenged by a few dicks over the years but because we work together for the common good of the site we have been able to stay on top of that and those people have left.

How good is that!?

Cause ya don't see much of it ya know, usually a knob head comes in and f@cks everything up!

BUT in numbers WE are STRONG!!!

STRONG I tells ya!

Blue Moon, 2010, in Oz
You’re Beautiful because
You showed the seventh Flying Buffalo
And illuminated each of the Twelve Stars
O, Blue Moon, you’re beautiful because . . . !

Taara – Shining Water – flying with South Wind
Brought forth Little Fire
And the king named Elvis has returned
With the Earth’s “root-stone” energy
Spreading beautiful Light

Celestial Children grow in strength
As the Twelve Stars nurture and soothe
The Seven Warriors blaze the trail
Whilst Aiden heats Eurasia
C. Troy flies through Water

The Drumming of six years hence
Livened the pace and
Loosened the hold on the Four Elements
Streaming tears will soon be wiped away
O, Tarra-ha-tikas – You’re Beautiful!
