Guys im getting bored of the steering wheel already any good suggestions? Nardi?

... Nardi deep dish are awsome but alas ur car has an airbag so u cant have it, not only is it a defect, if u crash they ur not covered by insurance and may be in for many thousands of dollars if they want to be tools...couldnt be as bad as an EM1 or EK driving position though :)

I dont think it'd rub.......just bigger than the stated oem size! It'll fit and drive fine...but will put speedo a little out tho!

Yeah I love the EP3 wheel. Why would you change it

SuperSteve
06-04-2009, 07:18 PM
yeah i was looking into getting a momo steering wheel and a boss kit with quick release b4 xmas because the steering wheel just feels so far away. But as rpm boy said if u get in a accident, your not covered by insurance so im just gonna stick with oem wheel and have my seat angled straight up.

Perry 1 more week and ill call up about the windscreens bro ! :D

Only reason is if you're about 170cm or taller the steering wheel sits quite forward from you. You either reach out to it or sit so close your knees sit on the dash :D

IM 188cm and its not the most comfortable, try getting lower sear rails... seems odd i know but it actually does help with the whole tall lanky prob like me :)

i got Vision lower rail for OEM recaro. it's like 5cm lower now and i love it. i'm 183cm tall and i see out from the middle of the windscreen rather than the top now. i can have the steering wheel lower which is sorta slightly closer to me. but another inch towards me and it'll be perfect.

regarding OEM CF dash kit, it's a stick on thing (not replacement).

well you may probably know that JDM Type Rs don't get radio and speakers from factory. you get them dealer fitted as an option during delivery.

there are optional tweeters for EP3 (my fd's had them fitted) but i dun think you can just buy the grills.

i have read posts on this UK forum (http://civictype-r.co.uk/phpbb2/index.php) that tweeter grills are available but i dun have links etc. maybe u can find them on ebay.

Air is 78% N2, 21% O2 and the remainder CO2 and other inert gases/moisture. Biggest advantage of filling with N2 is reduced moisture.

I'm with Just Car and its $1308 p/a for me. I'm 21 and i got my p's when i was 17. But i did opt for the higher excess cheaper premium, but when you add it all up it works out to be the same.

it helps stop the engine rocking backwards and forwards but because it connects to the side mount it would add more stress to that mount.

Main problem with the mounts is actually the rear and passenger side. They passenger side one is the weakest, therefore putting alot of pressure on the oil filled drivers side.

I have some 62a ones and hated the vibrations. So I recently reinstalled stock one filled with urathane and is performing very well.

Many might say its dodgy but It has held up very well with a few hard launches at the drags. Trick is to fill them properly and give it time to cure!

Each to their own, but I just couldnt stand the vibration. Rather feel the loud exhaust ;)

Hey SuperSteve, how did you get on with the windscreen??? Looks like I'm going to need a replacement as well... I was driving back from Melbourne and the truck in front threw a stone into my screen. It hit just below the wiper on the passenger side and the crack started extending right before our eyes. The crack followed an arc similar to path to the wiper blade would make. We were sh!ting ourselves as we were still some 5 hours from Sydney and it was getting dark... Anyway it stopped after a while and we eventually made it back to Sydney. But it looks like I will need a replacement screen soon!!!

Perry, I started with SRi then CAI and then GruppeM. Then I went back to CAI....reason, well for 1, I realised I just paid for bling!

Changed back to CAI, honestly there is not loss or gain in performance!

Only complaint people have with CAI is the hole that it leaves in the engine bay. But who cares when you're at the track or on the road....really.

My 2c anyway!

Im scared my gf will hydro lock the engine thats all with the injen.

You'll need to drive into a river and immerse the whole air filter to cause a hydrolock. You know that!

Puddles etc wont even come close. I've never seen or heard of anyone actually doing it. Not dismissing that it can happen....but really??? :p :p :p

Phil from memory they're some where around 4kg front and 5.5-6 rear.

DC5's are generally 1kg front and 1.5-2kg rear heavier!

Philip Lee

thanks man. so it seems most JDM aftermarket springs uprate the rear much more than the front (comparatively). i guess to induce more oversteer.

i got all mounts in, feels soooooo shhhaaakkkyyyy, but i still get a noise from the steering column, would anyone no the issue here? my mech told me it was cause the mounts were putting stress on the steering column so it makes noises like rubber rubbing so its squeeky, would it be a seal around the column?

while we're on the topic of mounts - has anyone had a mount break on a FL model?

so im assuming from the silence that no-body has had a mount brake on a face-lift model yet?

if tru then theres a chance it doesnt mean much, with them not being as old, but that means theres also a chance they fixed the prob for FL model.

Yeah, I'll be using DC5 springs as they're a heavier rate :)

Its been said various times that after market mounts cause vibrations through the car!!!! ;)

The steering wheel shake is just the centre (horn) vibrating against the steering wheel.

Mounts break due to usage and age and has no baring on whether its a FL or not! nor is it the fact that there was a problem!

The fact that its a face lift just means its newer!

i think it's more a case of FL being newer and less kays then improvement.

i understand your point - but a 2002 models with the same kms as a 05 model are having probs with mounts left right and centre, whilst no-one has mentioned a prob with FL model.

there are plenty of sports cars that get thrashed and dont need new mounts after 40,000ks - i know alot of people personally who have owned them.

when a FL model is released they sometimes make 100's of small changes based on user feedback, recalls, and common repaired problems from the previous model - so its not out of the question that they could have changed something.

we havnt seen any FL models with steering rack issues, or gearbox issues in 2nd and 3rd either. Correct me if im wrong here though, im simply stating that its possible they ironed out a bunch of issues.

end rant ;)

either way, all respect to u mate, i know u help alot of ppl on these forums with good advice. keep it up.

i dun have problem with steering rack, gearbox too (touch wood).

it's possible they have made updates but i guess it's a little too early to tell regarding engine mounts.

also there are many more pre FL than FL here so the chance of them saying they have problem is higher due to the numbers.

We're all here to help each other, the fact is the ratio of PFL vs FL imo is about 4-1 or 5-1 so obviously there is a higher chance of a PFL's mount to go wrong.

Stock engine mount on PFL is fine, I have sat a mugen one side by side and there is almost no difference.

i put in engine mount inserts pretty soon after i got my car so i can't say...but yeah...nepolian probably summed it all up in a nutshell...

yep exactly wat u said

well if thats the case. I had the same problem. All it is is a creaking/squeeking noises coming from ur steering rack. It was a common problem back in Europe with the ep3's and most customers had them replaced under warranty. However from what i read on the uk type r forums there was no safety issue with this problem, just a annoying noise. Some people just bare with it as the noise comes and goes for them and some other people got lube and lubed the inside of the rack to stop the noise. I had the same problem and i took it to my mechanic and he said the same thing, just a annoying noise. He went into detail but i cant remember exactly what he told me lol sorry. He also said it was a common problem with the eu model civics (5door hatch) we have here in australia. My mechanic basically hoisted the car, pulled back the rubber on the steering rack and sprayed some can lube inside and that got rid of the noise. That was probably around close 2 a year ago and ive only heard the noise a couple times since then.
