Personally going back to oem or mugen/hard race myself for daily !
Dont kid yourself guys.....stiff mounts only make you look cool. Pain in the arse for a everyday car lol. Leave those stiff mounts for track use

Yeah they suck balls for day to day driving....

That said, anyone selling there OEM mounts? mainly the drivers side oil filled one I blew up at the drags last week?

i've got mugen suspension(found out the day i rotated my tyres) and they feel pretty good once you get used to them and missus doesn't mind them either.
infact, the only person complaining about the suspension is my bastard of a friend who loves his evo and compares everything to it.

Far out Grant. How many chicks have you been going through? What a stud!! =P

Anyway, What do we need to do to get rid of the 180kmh speed limiter?

I thought my engine blew last night when I suddenly had lost of power on the main straight of eastern creek.
Then I realise this thing is JDM and has a 180kmh limiter.

I failed the MVR pits because of my HID lights how do I get around it. I went to an auto lec. They reckon I'd should look into finding some second hand ADM headlights that might fit. They think it will be too hard, time consuming and may not work if we try to swap to normal globs. what should I do? Is there a forum section on this?

Philip Lee
28-02-2011, 07:24 PM
That's bullshit. My compliance guy swapped out my hid and replaced with normal heligen. It was quite easy to hook up. I remember it was only 2 wires run off from the plug that hook up to the HID ballast.

He kept my HID bits so I could return everything to OEM HID relatively easily.

We tried today to put the halogens in and disconnect the ballast. Due to only having one globe and high and low beam controlled by the sleave that moves back and forth. We could not get high and low working properly. looks like I may need to purchase a second had set of lights to put in so I can register it, then switch back. Does anyone know what lights would fit a preface lift ep3 (none HID)??

Depends on the clips that you have in there mate. You could just get H4 bulbs and then modify some pieces of wire to hold the bulb in.

Just got my Mugen front lip installed today, come home to park it in the garage and SCRAAAAPE - a huge chunk of paint is now missing. FML.

As Perry said, you could just get a set of second hand EU civic headlights, cut the main wires that connect the power and hook the wires up accordingly and you're done! :)
It might be too much hassle to dismantle the existing HID wiring just to change the bulb n balast.......a suggestion anyway. :)

Bought it second hand (though never used or primered/painted) for $200 off someone from Firesport. It's a replica one made by TopMix in Hong Kong. Made perfectly though as the lip fits perfectly flush and I even got the bumper cut to have the air vents to cool the brakes. Really love the look of it.

Nah it's not that.

Lights designed for use with RHD cars have a cut-off like this:
\____\____

Where as lights designed for use with LHD cars have a cut-off like this:

RHD lights are designed to direct more light to the left side of the road and vice-versa for LHD lights - so oncoming drivers don't get blinded.

Terrible bodykit though! I'd go matte white over matte black for an EP3.

Any recommendations for catbacks everyone? Currently looking at one to go with my Toda headers... RM01a, Toda or Js Racing 60RS? Thoughts?

J's racing/Toda for the best sound imo. But your wallet will be come useless after the purchase.

J's racing Ti is light as. approximately 2.2kg.

Thoughts on the stainless steel 60RS that JDM Concept sells? The titanium one is out of my budget haha.

I haven't heard 60RS in person for an EP3.

However, I am judging on the basis that I've got a titanium fx 50RS for the Jazz. Comparing that to a mate's J's racing 50RS c304r, the stainless steel sounds like any normal cannon exhaust in my opinion. By that I mean, it sounds droney, farty and low pitched. To me that sounds crap but maybe not to others.

It's the same for the js'racing c304r for civic fd1's. Sounds droney, farty and low pitched.

So my personal conclusion is to only get the titanium if you're getting j's racing brand. Otherwise it's just bling but ordinary cannon noise.

Thanks for the input mate. Might just go with the full TODA system then. A droning exhaust would be too much for me - need the EP3 as a daily right now.

if you are just putting on an exhaust (header / cat / catback ) dont bother. It will be noise / drone and not much else !

F&&%%K bought Kiddracing headers 3 weeks ago, still hadnt turned up so I email the guy and he cancels the order. Apparently he was out of stock, then told me they dont ship international, then told me the order wasnt processed correctly. I still havent got a straight answer. Not happy at all about this but at least i got my money back (minus 60c due to the exchange rate).

Any suggestions on another set of headers, im definitely not dealing with kiddracing again

Not aware of any tops that can be fitted without mods. There are generic camber tops which will need some work to have fitted. But remember that OEM and mugen struts are quite large and may not have the movement unlike the others!

That's a fair point.

Is anyone able to confirm whether the Mugen shocks are just a revalved OEM shock? If thats the case, I'll likely be looking at replacing the strut top then with a new oem one.

Most EP3's in Australia have factory xenons - just like the photo in your first post.

The pictures in the link you posted, are for headlights which have halogen globes - e.g. the Australian EU Civic.

6000k should be fine as long as you're getting the correct bulb (D2R).

A whole new headlight from Honda would set you back $400 each side and will still be the same? If you mean aftermarket then I have no idea but I wouldn't trust those eBay ones.

Thanks Symphorced, i will buy the 6000k =]

Anyway... today I had time to remove the lights and found out that the bulb actually poped! So i went online and bought a new set of bulbs so thanks for the help guys!

Also, just wondering.. As i was taking the bulb out, i noticed that the bulb actually doesnt sit properly on the socket? like the plastic area on the bulb is as big as the socket so it doesnt fit into it nicely... Is it normal? I tried many ways to make it fit it perfectly.. but it just doesnt fit?

The 2 metal pieces can hold it down though, but its crooked.... o.O

spookz
04-04-2011, 08:16 PM
If they're the OEM bulbs, they'll be 4300K like all OEM HID systems.

If you only switch one side to 6000K, it'll not match the 4300K on the other side. So be sure to switch out both if you intend on going with different Ks.

Though, assuming you are running 4300K and you only switch one side out, one side will still be more blue/white compared to the other as HID bulbs get bluer over time. So if you're fussy, you'd probably wanna switch both at the same time and keep one as a backup.

Yes the high beam is turned off. I've been flicking the switch back and forth to turn the high beam on and off, it still doesnt work, it just stays on high beam

But here is the current situation, i dont know if would this be affecting it.. The left bulb poped, so i took it out.. disconnected right now... Would that affect the circuit within the HID causing it to stay on high beam? (but it was working fine with one bulb until i flicked the high beam on once, and it just wouldnt go off now)

Short answer is I don't know. But if you pit the left one back in and see if it goes back to normal. Since it started playing up when it was removed!

Hey bud I'm no expert at all but I have to swap my HID's out for rego (Pre FL). When we were working on them we noticed the high and low is controlled by a solenoid which control's a sleeve that slides back and forth giving you high and low. Maybe you blew the fuse that controls the solenoid??

The left one popped, cracked, exploded... had to bin it, waiting for my new bulbs to arrive.. hopefully it fixes the problem

Guys, my baby is now sold. Its now currently travelling down to Sydney. I'm sure the new owner will look after her.

It's been great for the last 3 years and it was nice chatting and meeting with like minded owners. I'll still hang around as I've bought another Honda.

Just wondering if anyone has replaced their rear swaybar end links? If so what brand are your replacements?

Undid one of mine, which was really seized up... Got it about halfway undone, realised I didn't need to undo it. Then when re-tightening it I stripped the inner allen key bit!

Well gives me an excuse to change the end links and swaybar now...

Hey guys, im using ferodo ds2500's and they are starting to squeak really badly. Before they use to squeak about 10 percent of the time, but now its about 80%.
Its also worse when the car is warmer and about 10% of the time it gets louder than normal. Got any ideas on solving this problem?

I run them pads and they squeak when cold n hardly when warmed up. Mayb ur's are starting to get glazed by the sound of it. Try bedding them again n see what happens. But b4 going hard on the brakes b sure to check u got pad left, maybe u might b low on pad.

clearly need to put some of that copper grease on steeb.

Vic what do you mean bedding instructions? they give you a sheet with quick instructions and also pads squeal so much, put some copper grease on it and that helped for a good 7000kms now the squealings back... any speed would do? took them out to wakie to do afew 360s and had to slam the brakes at 90 today and thankgod it saved my front end! great stopping power them ferodos with dba's

It depends on how cute Ferodo is and whether he/she is your type. For me if she is smokin hot, instructions would be a couple of dates, nice dinner, girley movie. That should get her in the mood. May take longer depends on the 'feel'.

Now, if your lucky enough to get to bed Ferodo and then she turns to you and say I love you and can't wait to have babies......that's when you slam on the brakes.

Now if Ferodo is anyway like the guy from Lord of the rings, the thought would never cross my mind and you'd have serious issues......please go ask Lukezen for advice!

Ferodos DS2500 are known to been noisy and dusty. That's the price for racing performance.

Not sure if you can still bed them in if you had them for that long.

Mines always been noisy, but driving in peak hour traffic on the m4 yesterday made the brakes sounded really weird. The brakes squeaked so loud that it sounded like a truck was doing it, this happen 3 times during the 1 hour trip. I think it was even louder than grants exhaust lol.

take my advice on the copper grease, top stuff and it really does stop the squeals for a good 5000kms
of hard driving.

Squeals are from the pads themselves - generally when pads are clamping below the working heat range the metallic fibres protude and rub against the discs.

Btw i have no idea why anyone here runs any aftermarket pads on the street - oem pads are silent dont eat your rotors and work 100% fine in all situations bar heavy track use.

Ben's right. OEM pads are good enough to be honest

I've used them for 3 track days and still got plenty of meat. Good enough to have fun but maybe not so much if you want the best braking performance and getting ultra fast lap times around Wakefield.

For street use, DS2500 isn't really put to good use. It's put to good use when it sees high temperatures on the track otherwise it's not that much better for street braking.

I use endless NS97 now. It's only a bit more expensive than OEM but cheaper than DS2500. Very low in dust and performs better than OEM. May not be as aggressive as DS2500 but this is because these are more for street use.

back to topic:
currently using the OEM and i reckon they're good too. not much brake dust compared to the ferodos. But if i were to go trackday, i'd buy a set purely just for that and change back to the OEM once i'm done.
