Pete, do u need a Japanese windows to run that??

It's actually a virtual machine with Windows in Russian preloaded with the EPC. So will need
vmware player to use it.

The reason it's setup this way is because the software licence activation is locked down to this virtual machine.

With my whiteline camber bolts, the washer tabs sit the same as the ones picture above, the tab faces inwards. From what I saw, when I installed them the washer can only sit at one position to the bolt i.e. the washer locks the bolt. When you spin it, it will spin the bolt/lobe as well.

My initial camber reading measured at -1.08 (camber tops were maxed out), I forgot to tell the guys at Jax I had the camber bolts. They did a second alignment and got -2.4 out of them.

Thanks for the reply. My mate spun the bolt around and what do you know... it pushed the top of the hub in, adding neg camber. Stupid jax.

This may sound like a strange question, but how many kms do you guys think the rubber on an ep3 clutch pedal would last before it wears out?

I only ask because I had a look at a car on the weekend with very low kays but the clutch pedal rubber was completely worn through. Should I be suspicious?

Hey guys,

I put my 235/45/17 semi's on today and the rear is scrubbing...I used a mallet and heatgun and rolled the rear guards asmuch as I could so they were nearly flat against the inside of the guard however the rear still scrubs. I'm running Aragosta Coilovers dropped around 1.5-2inches all around. I even stiffened up my ridiculously hard coilovers all the way and it still scrubs.

Alignment for rear:

Camber: -2.62 and -2.34 LH/RH respectively

What else could I do to stop it from scrubbing?> I was thinking about rasing the rear 5mm-10mm and see if it stops rubbing. I am going to a trackday on monday and really don't want it to chew through my new semis :(

Also it's mainly the right hand side that's scrubbing the left isn't scrubbing as much...Unforunately I don't have adjustable camber arms either..Not that you would want more than 2.3-.5 of camber anyway.

No the inside is fine, it's the outside. I can see the mark from where it is scrubbing.

I honestly don't know, I'm assuming these aragosta coilovers for the dc5 are somehow causing it to camber more...Even the guy at jax said it was unusual.

Bit hard to describe, but the lip slots into bumper. Just under that there is a raised edge which is held in place by plate(s), that have a 10mm bolt(s) holding them in place.

You could probably get away with cable ties or self tapping screws.

After dinner tonight, I noticed my battery light had turned on, my gf pointed out the speedo wasn't working and also the EPS light came on!!! I did notice the steering being a tad heavier than normal and the car felt a lil sluggish at first before I noticed anything.

So glad I found this thread on the 3rd google link I opened: problem-check-engine-light-battery-light-speedometer.html (http://www.civicforums.com/forums/182-7th-gen/311660-problem-check-engine-light-battery-light-speedometer.html)

Got the torch onto the fuses under the steering column and what do you know, I had blown a 10a fuse. I'm assuming it is the alternator one. The diagram on the fuse panel says to look at the manual. I swapped the fuse and everything is working fine now.

As mentioned in the link, does anyone know if the alternator could be stuffed? Hence, blowing the fuse???

Anyone else had the same issue?

I think i'll be changing my secondary o2 sensor soon, just in case I get another CEL light coming up for something else!

Symphorced
30-11-2011, 10:24 PM
I freak out so much every time the CEL comes on. I'd probably crash the car if the CEL popped up while I was driving haha. Did the manual confirm that it was the alternator fuse?

Also, in regards to the prior topic of conversation. Got the front underspoiler on. As it's a universal one, sort of just used self tapping screws and screwed them into the plate and then trimmed the edges of the lip to try and match the OEM one. Definitely a case of good from afar but far from good. Will post photos tomorrow.

Hey guys,

Any ideas on where I can purchase aluminium shifter cable bushings kit for the EP3? This is the bushings that you replace underneath the hood, below the stock air filter.

Just installed aluminium gear shifter bushings under the gear knob today. There is a marginal difference - more solid, but I feel it can be further improved.

Cheers.

Bought mine from here www.corsportusa.com/store/catalog/index.php?cPath=1_17&osCsid=f455b5511bb81eeadd725111bb5c1c24

But the Shifter base bushings made a bigger difference than the cable bushings.

i changed mine and it was a straight swap Ben just needed to separate the hi and lo cables and solder it onto the fl headlight cables, you'll end up having a spare set of wires hanging which isnt needed for the fl ones but if you ever decide to change back you'll need to keep them on or else cut them off. sorry i dont know how else to explain it, was just using a volt meter and checking which wires were which and connecting it through trial and error and the end result was decent. i bought mine from a mate for about 700 bucks with oem ballasts but now its been sold to winry :'(

Water in the BOOT

Anyone had this problem,,,?

HELP

Luke, I don't have an ep3 but in my experiences most book leaks are either bad boot/tailgate seals, rubber plugs on the boot floor or tail lights loose or broken.

First try to source where it's coming from. If can't find then look at your seals if worn or broken. Then check your taillights. If they have condensation in them then they will be leaking water in. If not then remove your boot interior and check I all the rubber plugs are in.

Good luck byuddy

I know this isn't the right place to post this but this is the only area I have posted. I rang hondworld on Monday asked for a sun visor drivers side for my ep3 they said no worries $25 for visor and $25 for airbag to Darwin. Arrived Thursday, was totally wrong shape will never fit and look half ok. Rang then back 2 times on Friday, someone was meant to get back but nothing. I have just got off the phone with the manager. He had a go at me saying I got what I ordered and how did I expect him to have a one off an ep3. He then said to send item back and that he would give me a refund. I said to him, "you want me to spend $50 on postage and end up with no visor??" He then said "If I want to play the tough man game" in a real aggressive tone. Then hangs up on me. I have been shopping with then for a few years no and service has been awesome. I will never deal with them again and I will most diffidently stop recommending them to offers.

Guys, thought I'd share this.. being working on fix rattles from Door Trim.. if your EP3R have this then feel free to read on : )

You will need to remove your door trim to do so, follow this link as the video shows you how to do this: http://importtuningtv.powertvonline.com/user_video_detail.php?mId=1111

Remember when pulling off the trim piece, work your way fron the bottom where there's a gap for you to slide your fingers in.. gentlying slide your fingers around to remove each of the clip, now be gentle so you don't break any plastic bits holding the clip..

This is what I used, a seal tape and table leg protectors from Bunnings..
Also I bought new clips from Honda Parts Australia, they are $5.10 each..

Now this is what the white clips look like that is located around the border on the door trim.. below image is an old one I pulled off, from time to time these plastic clips loose its tension and especially if you've being pulling these off many times to instal your speakers or such then these clips get looses its tension and will not clip hold tight enough..

You can see the clips are nice and firm and not crooked like old ones, now before you put them on.. I actually used seal tapes around maybe 3-4 rounds on the ring part where you will be putting back on your door trim.. by doing so its tighten up the clip to the plastic holder on your door trim(I did this with my old car before, so I know it works). Below images for your reference..
http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb207/dannyhsu/03.jpg

Your can see now the parts where its used to hold is not thicker, reason for using the seal tape its cos its soft and will absorb a bit of pressure..
http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb207/dannyhsu/04.jpg

Now also, when you pull off the door trim.. inside you will see some old cloth piece(mine was pretty much fallen off) I actually replaced all these cloth pieces with these table leg protectors. Comes in a big roll around $11 from Bunning.. now just need to cut these up into sizes and stick them on each part where the plastic touchs the metal..

Yes feel underneath the front of the seat, pull up and forward (as above) personally i just leave it alone its comfy already, but good to clean all the built up dirt that gathers in there

capital seating dont have bolster for the sportline series last time i checked. it would be worth sending them an email with a picture and confirm, though... i'm also not 100% if it can be changed like the SR3/SR4 as they are detachable bolsters. the EP3 Sportline i think is actually stitched to the main part of the seat (can someone confirm)

Actually Gavin at IMG told me Aussie import laws restrict the same basic chassis (shape and number of doors) from being imported into Australia. It's to protect the local market from imports of the same cars. But it also is the reason the JDM Integra Type R has never been imported (except for personal imports). So its probably going to be the same case with the FD2R, as it has the same shape and number of doors as the current standard model sedan civic (FD1).

If I cant get those fogs I was thinking might get some Philips 8 DRL's instead.

Also thinking of getting those FL projectors as well from the marketplace listed by Philip Lee here. Can I reuse my ballast and bulbs? or do I need to replace the whole thing?

Thanks

Hi Kev,

I posted this a while ago.. it seems the headlight bulb is different for Pre-FL and FL Head lamps, I would guess you need to replace the whole thing

8000k will become a bit purple in colour and less light on the road..

Dip Bulb - Factory 4300k
High Bulb - 2500k
Fog Bulb - 2500k
Parkers - MTEC led 6000k

you can see the parker is slightly blue already than the pure white of main bulb..

Just bumped into this while I was searching for some light bulb size for EP3R

EP3 Facelift

Headlights: H1 (Dipped), HB3 (Main)

I'll be careful with this. I believe JDM facelift uses D2S bulb for their low beam hids. I think H1 are used by UKDM spec and also uses a different headlight housing even though both are projectors.

http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j321/spoonRR/EP3RFRHeadLight.jpg

Facelift Headlight Unit - No.1
HB3 Light Bulb - No. 7
D2S Type HID Light Bulb - No. 8
Factory HB3 Light Bulbs Holder - No. 10
Headlight Burner Cover - No. 12
Headlight Burner Seal - No. 14

See part number from this japanese epc website. http://honda.epc-data.com/civic/aba-ep3/702/electric/7586/

No you can't reuse anything from your prefacelift. Different housing, different bulbs, and different wiring. Johno has done this before and wiring needs to be reconfiged.

If you're getting from Phillip, you must get the whole kit. It is completely useless to just buy the housing.

Another warning, do not buy projectors from hondaoriginalparts.com because their housing is only for UKDM which does not use HID. If you buy them you have to buy an aftermarket h1 hid kit to work with it. I have a friend who gone through this step.

So in conclusion you got three options:
1.) Buy the full headlight unit including ballast and bulbs from Phillip
2.) Buy brand new OEM projectors for UKDM spec and install aftermarket H1 HID kit
3.) Buy projector replicas from US and install aftermarket HID kit.

EP3 Pre-Facelift

Headlights: H4 (Main and Dipped) Dual Filament

A fellow ep3 owner has asked me about the hid bulb for prefacelift and thought this might help some other ep3 owners.

H4's are halogens bulbs which are used by the UKDM spec.

The correct size is D2R for prefacelift and do not come cheap.

the problem with 1 is cost, the problem with 2 is there is no cut off which means will blind people, the problem with 3 is they are for LHD so they don't light up the curb side well + blind people.

the only wiring that needs to redo is for high beam. the oem pre FL plug to oem FL ballast is plug and play and parkers/indicators only need a small mod on the housing to fit. it's not that hard to rewire the high beam, any auto electrician can do it. this will need to be done regardless which of the 3 methods outlined by Peter.

You have a Pre-facelift EP or Facelift one?

For Pre-facelift, bumper cut is a must for installing the mugen lip. For Facelift, I have read a thread from ClubEP3. It doesn't need to cut bumper.

For foglight installation, here is a DIY thread.

Its almost certain mugen gp wheels will fit an ep3. you really didnt give enough information on the specs of the wheel width, offset etc. But more than likely it will fit because mugen wheels and oem wheels have really high offsets and dont come that wide.

with log book, do you mean service schedule and what's done at each service? most people would just follow DC5 schedules. if you are a baller, you can buy them from Honda Australia.

with engine oil, i used Castrol Edge 5w30. anything around that range eg. 0w40 etc will be fine.

i agree. the location of the shifter means you hold the gear knob from the side rather than from the top. therefore i feel a longer gear knob makes it easier to shift.

a round one is best if the shifter is low and you hold the gear knob from the top.

btw can anyone confirm if this true.. I read somewhere online saying due to the shift position of the EP3R heavy gear knobs may cause it to pop out of 3rd gear under hard acceleration..

hence why I've being holding back and staying with the stock gear knob..

^ I too have heard such theories when I was considering buying a skunk2 gear knob. There's quite a debate on whether weighted gear knobs will damage our synchros too..

Headgasket?

Actually, it's rocker cover gasket.

Best to get this replaced while you also do valve clearance. It's not an expensive job.

Mine has a bit of oil seepage too but not as severe.
