No header will make "much" difference on our car - let alone any naturally aspirated car.
You need a decent header with headwork, cams , intake and tune of course !

Didnt you spend like 15-20 grand on a non type R b18c engine swap from GPC for your EK and it ended up making less power than a stock B18CR?

Toda headers, internals etc etc? LOL

Just figured full catback system, $650 delivered and plus its not too loud when cruising but sounds good when giving it..tats what I'm after and it was like $400 for a xforce or Magnaflow axleback so this sounded the better option plus ppl on other forum seemed to like it. It's fairly new product but will give it a go.

The paint code is NH-0 Championship white, you can ask a paintshop to make it for you in an aerosol form or you can get it in a small brush on form. If it's big i'd recommend a spray on as brush type will never look as good texture wise. Also paint does fade over the years in the sun so the touch up paint may turn out different to your bumpers. Car paint shops also sometimes use this computer thing that they put against your paint and it tries to match the colour.

This guy actually parked next to me when I was at Toowong shopping center and it looked VERY clean inside and out. It's also completely stock, a friend of mine (he also owns an EP3) test drove it and the owner was kind enough to let him vtec it.

Note that it's not a JDM version but the one that originally came straight from the UK, so it has the K20A2 engine (lower redline and a little less power) rather than the K20A engine that the JDM EP3 come with, no LSD, the spedometer also read more and was not limited at 180km/h. It's the premier edition EP3, few of the last ep3s ever made, so it's pretty much most the jdm ep3 options and features apart from red and black recaros and the differences stated.

1.5L should be plenty.

I think thats what the service manual says, but i've also heard so many other ways like RR-RL-FL-FR (furthest from the master cylinder) or RR-FL-LR-FR (apprently a honda way of bleeding brakes?).

What kind of brake/clutch fluid temps would I see in daily driving with a few occasional spirited drives?

Reason I ask is cause motul rbf600 is like $35ish+ per 500ml! and has a dry boiling point of 312°C and a wet boiling point of 216°C. Car rarely ever sees the track, maybe like once or twice a year and most of the time they're just happy laps lol.
Then theres also the Penrite super dot 4 with a dry boiling point of 275°C and wet boiling point of 183°C and I can get it at $8.50 per 500ml or even go their race brake fluid line for $25 each with a dry 310c and wet 198c boiling point.

Also, could i use different brand brake/clutch fluid for the clutch? I'm also gonna do a brake flush on the old camry with the penrite super dot 4 and might have some left over which i was thinking of using on the EP3 to flush the clutch fluid out and use some race fluid for the brakes? Would the clutch fluid ever see the same temps as the brake fluid in normal/spirited driving? /menoob when it comes to this stuff lol

when you go for a spirited drive do you drive at 10/10ths? tires squealing on the edge of traction through every corner.

i used to think they put similar kinds of physical demands on the car. but its so different. so i assume the temps would be no where near boiling point on a typical weekend back road run

doosra

I bought them off jdmyard. They normally sell them for $660, but I got it for $550, because there was a slight manufacturer fault. Basically the bolt bracket down the bottom part of the headers don't line up, so it will likely have to be repositioned by Haks but shouldn't cost too much to do so.

If anyone is interested in cost to install from Hak's
-Flange: $50
-Defouler: $70
-100 cel high flow cat: $450
-Header Install: $165

-Catback install: $50

Can't wait to have it all installed. Will have the complete I/H/E afterwards :)

yeah i know what you mean

ive decided to go for a Toda Set up instead of PLM and from what i can make it of it

toda manifold + toda exhaust + kpro + tune = 4.3k =[

Cheaper than what I paid.

Toda headers/High flow cat/Toda catback = $3.2k
Kpro + tune = $2k

just installed a cai on my ep3, car idles at 1100 now and when i coast to a stop at the lights it goes to 2000 and down to 1100 and back up

any ideas? checked vacuum hoses seems fine. I've plugged the temp sensor into the CAI it only goes in 1 way and it just squishes in place right?

you mean its fluctuating between 1100 and 2000rpm at idle? Usually its a common problem with a bad idle air control valve or 02 sensor, first thing i would do is take the iacv out and give it a good clean with carb cleaner

I paranoids, so i double chcked everything, took the clamps off and re did them, took car for a drive same thing, then thrashed it a couple of time and then suddenly its idling smooth again? felt more para so went for more sprints, car is great now. Must have been the ecu learning to close loop? Not sure all is good thanks. I might clean the idle valve anyway car has a slight misfire on idle.

Just a noob question..
What are the differences between Facelift and Pre face, is it just the light fly wheel, front and rear lights, front bumper?
What about motor wise, same power or different?
Just Researching before I purchase one, but I like the Pre face more then the facelift.. My opinion lol

under the hood is mostly same; there are very very subtle changes but its mostly exterior differences like you mentioned. you also get a bigger red H badge on the grill lol personally i have the pre FL but like the stock FL front end better, but pre FL with mugen lip/air walker is win. I never really liked the altezza look on the rear lights in the FL model.

Does it matter much in terms of efficiency between a 100 cpi and a 200cpi cat? I assumed a 100cpi cat would flow better, but i've read around saying that a 100cpi cat would normally need more structural support in the build to prevent the cells from collapsing and such, and these supports restrict air flow and therefore make the gains negligible compared to a 200cpi cat. Looking at PLM headers, it comes with a 200 cpi cat, just wondering if it's worth getting a 100 cpi one.

Just the bolt bracket at the bottom part of the header doesn't line up so the bracket needs to just be moved so the bolt can go through and be tightened. Nothing major.

Defs worthwhile, i'd go with hasports, im running 62a in the front and trans and 70a in the rear, vibrations aren't even bad, and become even less noticeable once they wear in. Hardrace is hardened rubber where as hasports use polyurethane; mugen apprently doesn't feel must different from stock and is also rubber.

How is the plm ground clearance? Does it make the exhaust sit alot lower? I think the last thing i want is even more scraping of my mid pipe...

It's just a second trip meter mate, it counts how many k's travelled since you last reset it. You can scroll through A, B and a third screen that will show you the temp outside.

Has this been tested or do people just assume it works that way? Reason I ask is generally after filling up I will reset trip A and when I scroll through to trip B it hasn't been reset, meaning the reset should be independent, a week later when I go to fill up again I go to reset trip A again scroll through to trip B and it reads 1.5kms. So I'm like well I don't remember resetting it 1.5kms ago so what gives

Hi everyone!

I'm in the market to buy a EP3R facelift model. I'll be in Sydney from 26th-31st Dec for a holiday and wedding. I'll likely be taking down cash with me to buy a car.

I have been in contact with 2 dealerships with EP3R FLs in stock - Unique Motors and IMG. I hear IMG has a very good reputation amongst Sydney enthusiasts. Anyone have any dealings with Unique Motors located on Parramatta Rd, Five Dock?

Also, would anyone here happen to be trying to sell their EP3R FL?

This is from the thread I started in the Wanted to Buy section.

The wife mainly drives it though. I wanted something more fun to drive so I traded her bmw 120i for my ep3 and she can't drive manual. I love my ep3 so much more and its so much fun modding and driving.

Anyone know where I can get plasti dip (pick up in Sydney preferably) for cheaper than what Zen garage is selling for ($34). I'm thinking of spraying the fascia and bottom part black as there's some scratches.

who's trimmed their fender lining? if so what places can do it for you around sydney?

I'd highly recommend you save some money and just get a stanley knife (hell even a kitchen knife with a serrated edge) and go at it yourself.

got my plm headers and tegiwa exhaust installed by Haks :) Took about 3.5 hours to do and he did a great job not that i know much but he said its sitting really well as it has good ground clearance and good clearance to the chassis. The car sounds great when you give it but when idling or cruising at less than 3,000rpm, it sounds stock so its a very very quiet exhaust. I read somewhere that its a copy of the Fujitsubo rm01a. Overall very happy. Performance wise, havent driven it enough yet as I was traveling home in peak hour.

If your running the test pipe.. have any problems with exhaust leaks?

How does anyone install headers (PLM) on the ep3? I can't seem to fit it from the bottom cause the trailing arm is in the way and from the top it wont fit thru that gap between the valve cover and the firewall. I can fit it from the top but its pointing the wrong way and theres no way i can flip it around. =.=

I fitted my kiddracing ones up without too much trouble from the bottom. I undid the swaybar and squeezed them through. Got them sitting in the right position on the 2nd or 3rd try. You just need to put it in at the right angle, and play around with it a bit, twist it etc.

I'm not too sure if they're the same, but i did notice the kiddracing ones have PLM on the box

Yeah I was able to get the stock one in and out from the top but I had to remove the valve cover and it was still a tight fit. As for installing the plm headers it was impossible from the top as one piece and from the bottom the trailing arm and sway bar is in the way and I can't get enough leverage with just jack stand height. Probs just gonna get an exhaust shop to do it since I need to get the slip joints welded and cat made up. Spent literally 8 hours trying and my neck hurts now lol just need to find a decent exhaust shop that knows what an ep3 is.

And yeah just kiddracing was just a distributor, plm makes the headers

you can fit 17x8 in the back, but keep the offset between atleast +35 to +43, anymore and you might find you'll hit the guards or the rear trailing arm

btw i think i see your ep3 sometimes around sunnybank?

What is the availability of spare parts of the car? [very important]
Any problems prone for the ep3 that I should watch out for when inspecting one?

and i usually just use scratch/swirl remover on the visors and it brings em back to life

I'd suggest sanding it down (varying grits) and then using a plastic polish on it. Used on a friend's Accord Euro Mugen visors and they turned up a treat.

Got my plm headers installed on Monday, I'm not too impressed with the exhaust shops work who completely ripped me off just to install it. They didn't weld the slip joints like I asked them to, instead they just slathered the slip joints and every gasket with liquid gasket maker which flaked off due to the heat, it wasn't even proper type of liquid gasket to use on the exhaust (looks like the permatex ultra grey) . Now it's been leaking ever since the install, has a hissing/sputtering sound that drives me crazy and makes the car sound cheap :(

Tho I find it weird how I haven't got a check engine light yet. No defouler on it and using a 100cell cat. Starting to think the bulb is not working lol I'll get it scanned tomorrow

When I first got the car the seats had black patches and gross lol I used a product called 'softly wool wash' from woolies and mixed it with water in a spray bottle; then just scrub it until its soaps up and let it sit. Then use a cloth with a bucket of clean water and wring it out till its slightly damp and wipe the soap of

Exactly why I'd rather piece of mind with clips. You have the option of adding tape too!

JDM Concept are cheaper (I got quotes) than going through jesse streeter, rhd and ooparts; It's still the best option.

Have you tried PR [Perfect Run]? RHDJapan is the most expensive, even more expensive than Greenline!

IIRC, they have to ship it to them in Europe, then ship to you in Australia...

It looked like a whole new seat. I guess you can clean it once to clean most of the stuff, then go over it again concentrating on the more dirty areas. Just let em air dry good otherwise your car will smell like wet socks lol I make it a habit to clean my seats atleast once a month now.

Anyone able to recommend some good coils for the EP3, prefering to get them sooner than later and possibably not spending over $2000 on them.

BC BR for cheap, low coils that can handle track relatively well.

Buddyclub V1 for stance (don't know much about them but wouldn't track on them)

idk if my mid pipe was always this low to the ground or it became lower after the plm headers install...

The cat section has excellent clearance:

The midpipe however is about 10cms clearance above the ground, but it's not sagging or anything...

This is my drop height

Is there anyway to make it sit a little higher? I can see there is a little more space on the underbody for it to be sit up higher

my car sits lower than that and still get good clearance. same as stock exhaust system.

yea i thought it was abit low, idk if its because they had modified the test pipe section since they said it was about 2 inches longer and didn't bolt up to the mid pipe. My resonator also looks lower than usual, about the same height as the mid pipe, but it has no scrape marks so it must've sat higher before since my mid pipe has always been all scraped up. One thing about this headers is that it doesn't have hangers like the oem one did near the cat. Maybe i can get the hangers where it connects the axle back shortened, would that help? I put a jack under the exhaust and it seems that it can be made to sit a little higher.

You can see theres abit of room between the heatshield and the pipe

Take it to an exhaust shop and they can probably help you tuck it. However most aftermarket exhausts for the EP3 are designed like this so that it doesn't foul on the chassis.

its like everything in the ep3s design is against going low.

Anyone here running aftermarket shifter cables in their ep's? If so what are your thoughts on them and what brand are you running? The rubber boot near the linkage on the gear box has popped off again, after I glued it with Rapid-Fix for the 2nd time. I'm looing at getting the Hybrid Racing ones, but am unsure if they'll fit for the JDM model and can't really justify the price as yet.

As mentioned already, go to any exhaust shop, they should be able to cut or rebend your hangers and get it to sit a bit higher. I put a heap of cable ties around the muffler rubber hangers, to stop them from sagging so much, which helped raise it a few mm.

I snapped my cable guide a while back when installing some billet bushings too, hybrid racing only very recently started making billet shifter cables for the EP3, and as far as I know is currently the only solution for EP3's at the moment.

Would really like to see what your impressions are if you decide to get them :D
