@brody: you should have a USB connection coming out from the ECU to plug into your laptop.

yea i thought it was abit low, idk if its because they had modified the test pipe section since they said it was about 2 inches longer and didn't bolt up to the mid pipe. My resonator also looks lower than usual, about the same height as the mid pipe, but it has no scrape marks so it must've sat higher before since my mid pipe has always been all scraped up. One thing about this headers is that it doesn't have hangers like the oem one did near the cat. Maybe i can get the hangers where it connects the axle back shortened, would that help? I put a jack under the exhaust and it seems that it can be made to sit a little higher.

You can see theres abit of room between the heatshield and the pipe

they modified my test pipe as well. I saw them chop some of it off

Rear will most likely scrub if you lower it more. I run for track x8.5 +30 with 225/45 on the rears with -2 degree camber and I scrub. Your set up will sit out a touch more too.

You could roll you guards and trim the plastic on the bumper so you won't scrub. I ran some aggressive offset with barely any negative camber and got away with it.

I snapped my cable guide a while back when installing some billet bushings too, hybrid racing only very recently started making billet shifter cables for the EP3, and as far as I know is currently the only solution for EP3's at the moment.

Would really like to see what your impressions are if you decide to get them :D

Thanks for the info geeang

I did a quick search during work, apparently corsport makes them too. But i`ll most likely bite the bullet and get the hybrid racing ones.

Will do man, i`ll post up some feedback once i get them. Just waiting on confirmation from hybrid racing to see if they'll fit.

I highly doubt the glue trick will hold up for much longer, i think it snapped in a different spot too. I was only shifting normally into 1st when it broke.

How much clearance do you have with the trailing arm?

I'm not 100% sure but I've never had any problems with rubbing on the trailing arms, and I'm only running -0.5 degrees of camber on the rear too.
I'll be running -1.5 or -2 degrees when I drop it some more, which should give me even more trailing arm clearance.

my battery in my ep3 died out today..

well im pretty sure its my battery because car wont start, lights wont turn on and so on and etc etc..

do i need to get a specific type of battery or can i just rock up to any supercheap auto and get any type of car battery?

You need to look at the cold cranking amps or cca, all batteries will state it and the higher the better, but usually that means the battery will be bigger and might not fit in the battery compartment. I think the oem battery for the ep3 is 360 cca so anything above is fine just make sure it will fit in the battery compartment. I went for the highest cca that could still fit cause it had a longer warranty, and cranks better too :)

Have you tried PR [Perfect Run]? RHDJapan is the most expensive, even more expensive than Greenline!

IIRC, they have to ship it to them in Europe, then ship to you in Australia...

I got a quote from these guys too. They are slightly cheaper.
They can get it to your door for the same price that JDM concept sells without postage.
It still works out to be like $225ish.
Possibly can get it cheaper from them if you buy more than one set?

UNA91
30-12-2012, 08:39 PM
Mine sits a little under half way which i thought was a problem but apparently all ep3rs sit like that. Tho idk why my aftermarket temp gauge sits at 70-75c but when idling at the lights or along traffic it sits around 85-90c, must be the radiator getting more air. Thermostat begins opening at 80c and is fully open at 90c according to the manual.

It's not a hard thing to do, it's just a huge pain in the ass because the exhaust is in the way, and because it's such a tight fight inside the centre console.

You can get them off an ebay seller in the UK. The eBay seller mentioned that they will fit

"however pre-face EP3's will need modification to the bulb wiring successfully fit the headlights.

The information needed to do the modification has been listed by a help user on the forum below:-

http://www.civictype-r.co.uk/index.php/how-to-guides/46-ep3-how-to-guides/72-fitting-facelift-headlights-to-a-prefacelift-car"

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/200834520423?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

If you do decide to buy them, I suggest you contact them directly and purchase it outside of eBay to avoid VAT tax that only people in the UK have to pay. I've been quoted 225 pounds + 80 pounds postage which is about $470 AUD delivered which is a good price.

Please let me know how you go if you decide to get them as I'm potentially interested in future.

They are also projector lights, not HID.

I'm thinking of upgrading my hasport mounts with their 70a inserts, would it be a huge difference over 62a in terms of vibes? I'm currently running 62a with 70a in the rear.

Ever since i got the 62a I feel like it could be abit stiffer and keep thinking if i should have gone 70a cause i can feel the engine jerk slightly at high rpms and letting off/shifting. The vibes aren't even that bad with 62a after they break in and honestly I can't feel any difference in vibration compared to stock mounts apart from turning the car on and at high rpms, but thats probs cause i had been driving with a busted oem drivers side mount for quite awhile before so I kind of got used to it.

If I put the car under my dads name insurance would be affordable, but once I list my name as one of the drivers it goes through the roof.

I know with Just Cars it says you must state the youngest driver, but with NRMA it says list any regular driver so can I not be listed and still be covered and argue that I'm not a regular driver if something was ever to happen?

Not likely, all insurance companies have teams of investigators who see this exact same story all day everyday. It would be highly unlikely for them to believe your dad is the owner and daily driver of a Civic Type R (demographic profiling, bad but it's the way it works), while you just drive it every now and then.

You see the odd person getting away with it because they never have to make a claim so it's never investigated, but if you have an accident then pray you're not one of the cases where your insurance policy is cancelled and you are held liable for potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages.

First mods probably be I/H/E, obviously
Thinking GruppeM after what i've read here, but also don't wanna pay that much for an intake, because i'm a cheapo.
AEM v2 was also high on the list along with the Injen CAI. if anyone has any comments about these that be awesome (or want to sell me one) =] (i know about the search function)
Was also wondering what kind of oils you guys use because i wanna service my car relatively soon

No one can spend all day at the track in their EP3.
For 99% of driving - a roof rack is quite practical. And they right
One looks decent. Just don't do it for image !

$1000 for an intake or whatever they're going for now. It's ridonkulous. Go Injen or aem. Just make sure you go cold air. I had an AEM and it was great (Easy enough to install and I guess you notice a slight throttle response change. Oh and that sexy note if you dont yet have an exhaust:P)

Hopefully this might help some body with o2 sensor problems for the EP3.

As you guys may know sourcing o2 sensors are a pain in the ass for the EP3's in Australia. It's best to source DC5R o2 sensors. The primary from the DC5R bolts up perfectly to the EP3 manifold, but the secondary from the DC5R is way too short for the EP3. To fix this problem just splice up the secondary o2 sensors and wire up the DC5r sensor to the EP3 o2 sensor wires as they are longer and will be able to reach.

Soldering is not possible with the type of wires they use for O2 sensors, as it's some special kind of metal that won't bond properly with soldering ion, so to connect the wire's up use crimp on connectors instead.

Running whiteline 24mm adjustable rear sways, and its fine. I think the ep3/dc5 subframes are alot beefier than older hondas

I figured so too. Only ever hear of subframes in EG/DC/EKs being ripped out.

Ordering Cusco 25mm next month - in time for Honda Nats. Getting way too much body roll at the moment.

It all depends on what you want on your setup I guess. If your going bigger on the rear might as well change the front.

Theres been a weird rattling/thudding noise that i can hear and even feel sometimes from 2k-3k rpm, and it started after i changed my transmission mount to hasports. It only happens in really wet weather (such as this depressing rain lately) and when its dry or even in light rain it doesn't happen. I suspect its my exhaust rattling on the underbody cause i can feel it at my feet...

I've bought some new NGK spark plugs that are gapped at 1.1mm (OEM specification); but upon putting them in, I found that the car had HKS spark plugs and from research they were gapped to 0.8mm; they also looked in good condition, no black burn marks or anything, like they haven't been put in long ago.

Just wondering is there a difference or any advantage in using a smaller than OEM spark plug gap?

The oem ones are fine, but you'll find that having them replaced engine feels more planted when you put the power down, also minimises chance of mounts breaking/leaking as the mounts probably haven't been changed since beginning.
As I drove mine quite a bit I replaced mine with mugen mounts. Only a little bit more stiffer than oem, didn't want to be too hard.

Still running stock. Think I should look into upgrading that at the same time?

Is it just body roll you want to clamp down on or is it understeer too?

Personally if its understeer that you're aiming at then do just the rear first, the RSB will have the biggest effect. Then you can decide whether or not you need to balance it with the FSB. It also depends what alignment and tires you have.

Trying to reduce both. So much bodyroll and understeer is always apparent. Running aggressive alignment and sticky tyres already (-3.5 camber front with 2mm toe out, -2.5 camber rear with 1mm toe in on Hankook RS3s). I'm going to be ordering the Cusco rear sway bar soon and see how that goes before changing anything else.

Sorry to ask for more details man, but what suspension are you running [spec, spring rate, damper setting, height, etc] might be able to help you further as well =)

No need to apologise when you're offering me help and advice!

I'm on BC Racing BR coilovers (6kg/mm front, 8kg/mm rear), height I'm running about 100m off the ground. Damper is set to around 22 from softest (out of the 32). Other suspension mods include: inverted tie rod ends, shortened tie rods, rear camber arms and various bracing across the car (6 point bolt-in cage, front strut brace, rear tie brace, rear strut brace). The coilovers are definitely something I'm looking to upgrade in the future.

DreadAngel

Do you have a video of you running by any chance so I can see when you're experiencing the under & roll?

Does it happen under power only? Or under trail braking? Or everywhere?

I'm assuming your car isn't too ample in the power/torque department and that your LSD is still good =)

Alignment wise looks ok from what I can see.

Tires are good, did you run the car with different tires? Possibly with less grip? Did the car under @ same or different speed? Was the under same or worse?

Damper wise 22 clicks front only? or is that front and rear? I'll be helping my friend dial in his EP3R on the weekend, I think he might have the same coilovers as you, I'll share what I did regardless =)

EDIT - Atm, most indications would point to some damper retweaking and RSB with FSB pending whether you like the changes or not... Cause depending on the diameter and construct of your chosen swaybar [Hollow v Solid], it might make the rear so stiff that you get an excitable rear end so that's when you balance it with a slightly larger FSB =)

Under trail braking I don't get too much body roll/under. It's usually after hitting the apex of the corner and under throttle that I will get understeer/body roll.

Run with Toyo R1Rs front and Re050A rears before. That was getting me lift off oversteer more than anything due to the poor condition of the rear tyres. Dampers - I've run 22 all round before and also 22 front/24 rear. Didn't notice a difference.

Closest I have to a video is from a video mounted to the dash of a chasing car.. but that doesn't show much of me through corners and the tyres you hear are of his car.

NB: Because you're running a JDM Import, do expect the mapping to be not so correct for Australian conditions, majority of imports doesn't matter if you're running an EP3 or a GT-R, run rich from factory .

[b]Checklist
Air Filter - Clean or Not
Spark Plugs - Electrode
Spark Plug Leads - Check overall condition including the plug cover end

02 Sensor - This can affect performance and economy...
Fuel Filter - You'll be surprised how many people neglect this...
Fuel Pump - Check to see if it's making noises, sign it could be on the way out

That's just some general stuff =)

Hey guys I have a quick question.
The previous owner of my car had a Toda racing exhaust system installed, would that affect the O2 sensor which could be the reason for my terrible fuel inefficiency?
I just poured in a bottle of fuel flush today so if the fuel inefficiency doesn't get any better than I'm assuming it's the O2 sensor.

Could it be damaged or just dirty?

You need to measure by how many km's to litres poured as fuel indicator light may give false readings.. I think an ep3 tank is about 50L. Drive 100km and fill up and see how many litres it uses. On average use 10L per 100km

I'll let you know how far I get with this tank, this is with the fuel flush mixed in this tank.
