Hey asgr8, I was told the same thing as well. I'm due to get my black civic vti 07 model end dec or early jan. From what I understand, theres nothing to worry about. In fact we're better off cos when we do eventually sell the car it would be an 07, not an 06. The 07 Model is just a facelifted '06, That's all, specs are still the same.

As for how it looks, I have no idea and surprisingly neither did the sales guy at honda. Somehow i havent been able to find any pictures of the 07 JDM civic, only the US version. If any one here has stumbled across a pic of the 07 model or has a clue as to what the facelifts are, would be much appreciated if you could post here.

In fact we're better off cos when we do eventually sell the car it would be an 07, not an 06. The 07 Model is just a facelifted '06, That's all, specs are still the same.

Personaly if these dates matter to u i would wait till feb to get a true 07/07 civic!

if ur gettin the 07 model in dec 06 when u go to sell ur car it wi9ll still be an 06 model, valuers only look at the compliance date!

Its the chrome door handle's and chrome mouldings that ive seen on a few Vti and Vti-L's (all of them being black)

Its no big deal, just curious; as the honda website states chrome mouldings are on every model as standard

All you need to do is lodge a claim and they access whether it's a total loss 'write off' or not.

it's new for old within the first year - find out if this applies under your policy.

Just make sure you read the fine print is the general rule of thumb.

i am under honda preferred "swan" insurance atm and that covers new for old with any claims within the first three years i believe

Depending on the colour as well, but I ordered mine round the middle of November and its due in end dec/early jan.

If you're dead set on the civic then i recommend you get urself on the waiting list ASAP.

I bought a brand new 06 civic sport for $32 400 (manual) driveaway in sydney with some extras mats, scuff plates and i paid an additional $1200 for paint and interior lifetime protection. This was without trade in. It is hard to come across specials for the civic because there is a back log of orders on them, i was lucky that someones finance didn't get approved and i got mine in october rather than having to wait till march 07. They can do specials on all other hondas except the civic

mate never belief what the dealers tell you. My dealer told me most civics that come to VIC usually come from the docks (which sounds reasonable). And of course the dealers are gona say they are beating everyone esle cos they want you to spread their high reputation. Just a word of advice never give in to what they say. they love to sweet talk their way into bussiness:p

My Vti-l delivered over 4 days(ordered last sat, got it last wed with 25km done), and my dealer said they have another brand new silver Vti-L (not in show room but can be obtained in 3-5 days) one for me to choose, and they also have 2 Vti in the show room.

Well the way the dealer was going on about it and the expectations they set ie, dealer mentioned possible diff grill, slightly diff curves on the front n rear bumper, trim etc etc.... i'd expect a lil more than just a boot lip.

I've mentioned it in another post but since u asked here.. the 07 Vti comes with the iPod Aux jack as well. Have yet yo actually try it out. but its there =)

well, the City shape had been in production for about 2 yrs (if not more), before it had the face and boot change. Malaysia only get that in the 2nd year of pre-face-lift production.
but u r right about the unpredictablility of Honda's facelift, the previous ES civic's 1st facelift lasted only 1 yr, before a 2nd one was done.

Btw the manual says that fitting AM rims can put unnecessary stress on suspension/components. Anyone here got any thoughts? Is this true or just a liability line to save Honda's ass should something go wrong? Or is it just Honda's way of hinting you should buy OEM?

well.. putting rims with the wrong specs, like offset, pcd, blah blah is definitely a "no no".

and, if the rims are much heavier than stock/oem, then, yes, the absorber needs to work much harder to manage them. having said that, std AM rims are usually no more than 1-2 kg heavier than stock/oem. and considering the amount of punishment the wheels, tyres, shock/spring they have to go through when u drive on country roads, I would say that line was meant to be a 'cover honda ass'..

Theres some subtle changes we've noticed with the interior, plastic around sunroof frame, some extra storage holes in the dash, lumbar on seats seems to be more supportive - cushion. We're hoping the ride height drops maybe 1/2cm as it sits a tad high atm, but I guess it's stock height so can't complain too much.

Can't wait till the brakes bed in and motor settles in abit more for some redline action..........enjoy.

i haven't been up there for almost a year now..........use to go up at least once every 3 weeks during summer.

the civic is enough to have some fun up there but because the shocks are under dampened on the sports on some of the rough areas the suspension kinda misses a beat and back steps out abit. the drive by wire doesn't help either when your trying to match rev into the lower gears quickly...........

Finally got my silver VTI last friday after more than 4 months of waiting and got a 07 Civic too!

Installed the door garnish today and tried to install the phillips crystalvision light bulbs, but encountered hiccups. The installations of the light bulbs requires the removal of the cover in the wheelarch in order to change the bulbs. I removed the 2 clips as instructed but I still can't get the cover aside and I am afriad that I would cause damage to a new car.

How do you guys managed to change the bulbs? I am going to let the Honda guys do the bulb change.

I don't know much about Focal.. but I'm surprised the sound improvement is noticeable without amplification. Any comments? I'm asking because I still haven't gotten round to my rear speakers... still undecided whether to invest in a 2nd amp or just run it off stock wiring.

It takes alot of patience... as per the manual, for some of them you can reach through the engine bay, but like you said.. you have to remove the wheel arch covers. Just keep shifting it around and eventually those pop in screws will fit in easily. You'll need to remove MORE than 2 of the clips though.. I think I removed 4 or 6 of them to ensure that I could fit my arm in without injuring myself. Mind you, when you remove that many, it becomes alot harder to align it later on to reattach. Your choice. Try to keep track of which clips/screws came from where since IIRC, some fit better than others.

I got mine around that price 4 months ago too, and got mud flaps and alloys as "freebies". But again, i understand I m paying near retail and I negotiated on the trade-in and freebies to make it more "acceptable".

The thing is, Honda doesn't really need to lower the price much considering the demand way exceed the supply.

Dunno the price now, but back in Aug06, OEM was approx $600-$650 for a piece of body kit. The side skirt came in pairs ofcourse :)

I've noticed alot more grip on powering out of corner exits with the Mich'l tyres.......either that for the wheels are heavier and the car isn't able to break traction.

Yeh we've got a very small 3mm scratch on the leather seats along one of the inner edges when we picked up ours.........obviously not a issue worth being anal about so we've lived with it.

This is our second sports and in both cars there have 1 or 2 dirt marks on the driver door panel. Must be when they drive the car on and off the docks or something.......

I think I got things the right way round. I signed up for OzHonda and then bought my first Honda. Bought a bog standard Civic Vti tricked out with front mats and roof-racks. The price was great at $23,500 including rego, stamp duty, dealer delivery.

My favourite features on this car (prior to getting it home), the stereo aux plug for mp3 and the awesome vtec engine. It's a brainiac, with the ecu taking in throttle position, rpm, gear selected, exhaust sampling, and feeding this to spark advance and the funky cam!

Bang-for-buck, this car is the business.

i only found this out yesterday when i was using the windscreen "sprayers", but you can keep your windows down and not get wet due to the way the windscreen is placed. lol every time i drive mums car i gotta put them up or get sprayed in the face :(

The new civic sport is a great car but due to personal reasons, i have to let it go after 7 fantastic months.

I have a brand new set of highly rated Progress Springs from the states if anyone is interested. They will fit for all ranges of the new civic. Not putting them into the civic anymore since i'm selling the car. Cant post it up for sale as well because I have yet to accumulated enough 'post points'. PM me if interested.

Well, after reading all the reviews both here and the US sites and confirming that it was probably the best buy in this range of car, I went and ordered a VTi auto in sparkle grey. I filled out an inquiry on discountnewcars and faithfully the local dealer in NSW contacted me with the price. Needless to say he started with the 26500 rrp and I reminded him as to what was the point of being referred by another website which offered discounts. After several minutes of discussion, the phone price came down to 26000 and that was it. A week later I went to the dealer to start settlement negotiations. After an hour of haggling with the sales guy and the sales manager, I managed to get a genuine set of carpet mats & premium plates included for the price of 25500. Stock of the autos is very limited and dealers are selling what they get in several days but you take the colour that is available unless you are prepared to wait. Orders are up to the end of April. You can get a great deal on the manual accross the range and you will certainly get a better deal than me. I will be getting the new one next week. I don't know but certainly but I believe that rego, s/duty is cheaper in VIC & QLD so you guys from should be getting better prices on road that us in NSW.

the 2007 sport i sat in yesteryday it did not have a rear armrest, i remember that distinctly as i thought thats a shame. You are probably referring to 2006 catalogue as there is none for 2007 yet.

OUCH....... Is that an auto? If it is and you are able to get floor mats, tint, paint protection and other extras thrown in, then it's ok. Otherwise, that is the same price as a manual base Euro with mats, 1 year comprehensive and 5 year warranty in January.

Either way, the civic has come a long way since its old conventional styling. IMO, the 8th Gen civic will set a new benchmark for future honda cars to come in terms of styling and features.

What the? Retail Civic Sport Auto is $32,490. So you paid only $510 for the other charges (rego, gov, stamp duty etc)? When did they start to discounting the Civics? Unless there was a trade in?
