great looking car lowered and with those wheels :D

One thing that I've been wondering about though, and that I'm sure alot of others would be interested in is the clear front indicators that are standard on the United Kingdoms "Honda Accord Type S" (which is just a CU2 with Deisel engine)

http://www.freeupload.com.au//uploads/1/clear lense 2.jpg

see what i mean? anyone know where to source them? Even though it's only a subtle change i think they really finnish off the car well.

wow! I presume that must be replacing the entire headlight assembly (exc. globes, etc) all i want is that cheap little piece of clear plastic inside the headlight housing not the whole thing! honestly i would only consider doing it if it was under $100 bucks including shipping. After all that bit of clear plastic probably only costs Honda like $2 each to manufacture in china!

why be so racist lol jokes, im chinese, nah yeah that's replacing the whole headlight unit, too bad they only do it that way, otherwise i think someone from Acurazine clear out headlights for people, too bad we're not in the US

kumho tyres is about 250-300 each.. so it is about 1000ish over for 20 inchs.

i am sure there is really good tyres costing $500 each

but if u want something more affordable and still not bad.. should look at kumho..

My tires were about 295 each and that wasn't the cheapest price i could find too, for the power our euros are putting down, we hardly need anything better than that, the Ecsta SPT KU31's fine.

I don't think so, as companies making new springs and coilovers for the CU2.

Even if they did fit, CU2 would need higher rated springs for the increased weight.

Heya - how are you finding the Teins?..........good damper and firm confortable ride? is it heaps firm on the highest setting?

hey it's a little more firm because i have my tein on stock settings which should be 8 clicks back from hardest cause there's 16 i believe. and i'm also not planning to turn it to the hardest because i want to keep my cu2 comfortable enough lol, but since even the stock setting is a fair bit of difference, im sure the hardest setting would be much firmer.

I have recently done a 60mm Stainless Steel pipe, with a sweet tail piece. Sounds quite agressive, but still classy. Cost me quite a bit, but very happy. Definate increase in power too. Left the CAT in place though.

Doing a CAI and UNICHIP soon as well.

^^^ greg, sound clip/video will be good! :)

I tried to do one with my cellphone camera, and it sounds awful! Nowhere near the real sound. The video clip sounds like a farting motorbike LOL. Even I was shocked.

Reality, it has a deeep racy sound, aggressive. Will try and find a camcorder that comes close to portraying the true sound.

MKI4EVA
08-12-2009, 09:52 PM
so approx 2" cat back?

I'm going to have a look at how the exhaust is designed and if it's stainless steel system.

I'd go as far as x'ing the CAT and silencers and leaving the mufflers as is. (not a option for everyone).

after that i'll just be waiting on a hondata set up and be done with it.

They would be fantastic. Singapore Honda Club has a few guys that have done it. It changes the internals of the mirror assembly, so no complete change over of the mirror. It also retains the left mirror reverse tilt. It auto folds in when locking the car and folds out on unlocking. You can always install the internal button on the drivers door to fold in/out when you're in the car.

from honda website:
1 - mirror folded can be turned on / off using mirror angle toggle button for mirror side to the right hand mirror adjustment or lefthand mirror
2 - no idea if come with wiring. definetely no english instruction, but is a add on function
3 - folding function only work when engine is turn off plus this function activated. it wont work when engine is on othwerise it is safety hazard when you lock the door and the mirror fold
4 - it just mean when you lock - mirror fold, when you unlock, mirror deployed

I'm running austyres sport 245/35/20 99v. Ride quality is ok, not noticably noisier at 60 but definitely noisier at 100. Haven't has them lose grip yet but I haven't had a chance to try them in the wet yet. I'm just glad these things haven't exploded on me already actually haha

Cheers mate :D I haven't actually tried an external GPS to check my speed yet but theoretically i should be going 1.8% faster. Should cut down some of the huge tolerances that manufacturers put in place though :p I would've gotten lower profile tyres to get even closer to 0% difference but these are the only legal 20" tyres that will fit!

Thanks bud :D. These two are the closest i have to a side profile at the moment. Will get a better side profile shot for ya, but its gonna look high if i do a proper side shot :p

Looks neat,

But 245/35/20 is a little chunky for a 8.5 inch rim,
I know you wont find anything smaller with the right load rating,
but you are going to still be defectable anyways as your rolling diameter is larger than stock..

Yeah would've liked 235 but i dont like the extremely stretched look. the advantage of this is that the rim has a little tiny bit of protection :o

i think in VIC its a tolerance 15mm smaller/larger than stock. with this setup its 8mm larger than stock so i'm still in the clear by a little.

Actually 235/30 would not look extremely pulled, its fairly normal if not oversized.
But yeah oversized tyres will give the rim protection.

Im not sure about the 15mm tolerance.. otherwise they would not have that rule.. If police wanted too they will still defect you,

But as is your car doesnt scream any unwanted attention so you should be ok :p

Otherwise it would be mega gay if i went to all this trouble to get road legal tyres and still be defected on something else :o.

Yeah for sure 235 would look better and be closer to the original rolling diameter - sorry i meant stretched look with 225. 245 makes the wheel look too small because there's too much rubber. But then i guess it kind of suits the car because the rubber fills in the pumped arches. 22" with 20 profile perhaps (and no road legal tyres haha)? :D

hahahah the white CU2 supercharged on that Russian website has "Euro R" stickers all over it :p A supercharged Type R

haha yeah, the russians sure aren't shy about modding their cars. Some are done alright but they're all too 'extreme' if you know what i mean. Some pretty interesting and nice ones in there, perhaps just need to tone down on the vents overall!

When they say 15mm limit, that is the rolling diameter of the tyres. Not the rim size.
If you are only 5mm above stock rolling diameter, and you want to be a bit safer, then you can try printing a copy of VSI8 and keeping that in your glovebox in case cops try to defect you for it.

btw does anyone have the colour coded mud guards? how much are they? i cant remember what they look like, but i remembered they made the car look lower but the main reason why i am interested in them is because i hate the gap between the tires and the walls of the wheel arc. its too wide

these fotos show what i mean (scroll down) http://www.drive2.ru/cars/honda/accord/accord_cl_cm/vladimir37/
i think hes on air runners or watevr you call them. there is a huge gap when he lowers his car.i know his tyres are small but even if theyre big the arc is flared outwards slightly. im hoping some cheap mudguards would make the gap smaller?

is it just me or did he pretty much cut vent holes in his bonnet and put dents in his front bumper to create that rugged effect. or is it part of the lip. because i think the lip is just the bottom part. but i dont see him actually doing anything to the front bumper to make it like that. and comparing the bumper to the original i think its an entire replacement or self "dented"

as long as its the red 3M tape and you prep it with alcohol wipe, no chance it will rip off. I had to use brute force when i took mine off. If it lifts off, its because of improper application.

My car probably had it done improperly by the dealers.

The tape used with the OEM ones were what looked like simple black double sided tape.

Only my rear left lifted off which was a cause for concern especially on the highway!

My plans over the next couple of months.

1. Fill the engine mounts up with a harder poly compound - motor moves abit too much for my liking. Added with the way I drive they won't last.

2. Firmer springs - OEM springs feel progressive. Would be good to get a linear rated firmer spring.

3. Upgrade sway bars - Steering response is good atm but could do with abit of sharping up.

4. Might look into ISF rims to see if they fit and cost. Or a nice rime with that colour effect darkish shadow chrome sort of look.

3 drive throttle controller + harness (no cutting of wiring, plug and play on cu2)
http://www.jdmconcept.com.au/index.php?option=com_jdm&p=detail&cid=351

overall impression

pivot raizin - it more of protection more than anything else description is below
Voltage Stabilizer.
By increasing the capacity of the condenser three-fold (compared to Blue RAIZIN), and decreasing both circuitry noise and high frequency impedance the results have been a more stable supply of voltage to all electronic devices, better gas mileage, and improved torque and audio quality.

A World's First: View Battery Performance via Lowest Voltage Display.
Displaying two types of voltage, both real and Lowest Voltage (world first) at engine start makes it easy to see battery life and loss in battery performance. This also helps to protect against trouble caused by shortages in voltage to various electronic.

3 drive throttle controller
installation - piece of cake since there is harness. dedi at top one install it in 15 minutes. no engine warning come out. no reset of ecu
drive - havent tested yet on highway, i will on this wednesday as i need to see my house builder around bella vista area.

however on the way back home i tried it. cant test on economy range yet i guess the only way i can tell is the mileaga on fuel tank

sport mode, i can feel pick up is a lot easier for the car.

they have range for sport from SP1 to SP7 that you can select. i cant tell massive different from SP1 from SP7. again maybe this come into play when driving on highway and not like 60-70km/h on sydney road

from honda website:
1 - mirror folded can be turned on / off using mirror angle toggle button for mirror side to the right hand mirror adjustment or lefthand mirror
2 - no idea if come with wiring. definetely no english instruction, but is a add on function
3 - folding function only work when engine is turn off plus this function activated. it wont work when engine is on othwerise it is safety hazard when you lock the door and the mirror fold
4 - it just mean when you lock - mirror fold, when you unlock, mirror deployed

Any update on this?

On the CL9, headers were the best mod but unfortunately you can't upgrade those on the CU2. I think an Intake, high flow cat and exhaust should improve things a fair bit. The pivot controller seems really interesting too. Does it work with the CL9 Yonas?

controller with CL9 since, cu2 and cl9 share same harness

Cheers :D. I like the short ass of the CU2 and i dunno, i dont think it needs a spoiler but i reckon might do well with a duck tail.

Got H&R springs so the drop is 1.3" all around, $250 to get it installed by my preferred mechanic. Ride quality is pretty nice so far, a little bit firmer than stock but i prefer that.

Rims are 20" Work Gnosis GS1. Haha yeah, had to chop up the OEM grill and insert the mugen bit, kind of an expensive piece of plastic at $500 :( Installed it myself but the instructions were in Japanese, lucky my dad knows how to read japanese haha! Got it from JDMconcept.

haha aww thanks for the tip. I thought it looked round and made the ass even shorter but i thought it looked kinda funky like that haha :p

yeh my mates got the ducktail and i got the wing. some people think the mugen wing is too much, so the modulo wing is a right balance, but the ducktail is very nice cause its low and subtle but noticeable.

how much did the springs cost you and the rims? im planning to spend lots of money on aesthetics but those two things are the most expensive parts that im not certain i want to pay for. cause bodykit is paying to ADD something to the car. but rims and springs are paying money to REMOVE a perfectly working component.

u cant change to bigger rims without changing springs can u

Thats called modifying, if you dont want to change those parts, technically you would be driving a stock car, as the rest of the parts are still practically factory options, Weather shields, tints, etc.

Yeah i kind of like the ducktail but i dont like how the edges kind of 'sweep' towards the front if you know what i mean.

Got the springs from heeltoe for about $500 shipped, shipping being like 1/3rd the cost lol! Sure you can put rims on without lowering the car, it just looks a bit silly especially if you've got bigger rims on as it accentuates the gap between the wheel and arch.

Yeah but with bigger rims you're going to be using thinner tires, which means less 'black stuff' so the black gap you're going to see between the actual alloy and arch will look bigger. But if you already had a lot of rubber between the arch and alloy, the gap isn't going to be as noticeable in comparison.

let me find a pic of the car before it was lowered.

the same thickness of rubber with bigger rims will not fit in your car... bigger rims= thinner tyres(low profile). If youre only going up by 1 inch higher ( 18inch to 19inch) i suppose you can use the same thickness BUT ur car gonna look like 4x4s.. Also it might hit the upper part of the guards if you are going fast, meeting humps, or even turning full circle.

i just realised yesterday after opening my bonnet to discuss with my mate on where to wire DRLS that when i changed all my lights to LED, including the parkers, that i forgot to replace the coolant tank after installation! ><
to change the left parker (when facing the car) you take off the coolant tank and u can access the bulb.
because i spent so long changing the other bulbs in the car, i mustve forgotten i moved the tank off and placed it on the engine, leaning against the timing belt :S

so when i saw it yesterday i totally freaked out, there was no damage to anything in the car and the tank was just a bit hot. but ive been driving for 2 weeks with it just rolling around my engine bay!!! ><

shud i be worried that some component might have been damaged? i cant see any visible issues and nothing is being alerted by the computer

I cracked my windscreen this afternoon driving to the uni. It seems that there is a tiny little stone that hit my windscreen while i was driving. I was so shocked as it cracks in front of me. Is there any way that i can do instead of changing the whole mirror? i tried washing the car afterwards and it seems that water cant get in the car. Also the surface is as smooth as normal glass. I cant seem to see what really happened.

Help will be much appreciated guys!

Let me re-phrase that. If you change the Air Induction System on a car the manufacturer can at his discretion void future warranty claims on the Engine. I have seen it happen often.

As a general rule exhaust modifications are not viewed with the same scrutiny as induction modifications, but again it is dealer discretion. You can't do Headers on a CU2 anyway, your limited to cat back & possibly a high flow cat. Once again i personally can't see worthwhile gains in this area alone as it already has a fairly free flowing exhaust.

Note that Dealers still can blame the K&N filter if you claim any problem with the engine. Basically, if its not OEM, they have the rights to do this (but I think they need to somehow prove it).

the colour of replica visors is different to genuine mugen. and the genuine ones are branded as mugen. the replicas have the manufacturer name or something instead. also the genuine one goes all the way to the end of the visor so u have max coverage and looks nicer, whereas the replicas dont.

The stock air filter is pretty restrictive. An aftermarket CAI like Injen "in theory" should produce a little more hp, improve throttle response with a bit of growl under accelleration and improve fuel economy slightly.
Injen claims 14hp on the new CU2 Euros with their CAI, whether it's true or not who knows but i'll probably go an Injen as you can convert them to a short ram intake which i've heard are better for low end power and sound better ( short ram intakes have much shorter piping than the cold air intakes which gather air deep in the engine bay behind the front bar )

I've only been able to find them on ebay in america. Im pretty sure the Acura TSX is the same car as our Euro. Better to make sure before comitting to buying ( im waiting on a seller to email me back actually )

This one has international shipping for $130 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/INJEN-09-10-ACURA-TSX-2-4-4CYL-14HP-COLD-AIR-INTAKE_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem53dfea053fQQitem Z360238941503QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fA ccessories

$150 for international shipping sucks though. In May im going to America you think i should bring one back with me lol

See how it is 2 piece piping? For the short ram you just use one of those pipes or if you want you join the 2 and go traditional cold air intake.

I doubt an intake would be much of an issue with warranty but that's why if i were to go with a short ram like you said i would remove it before each service so they wont even know about it lol

Im on the lookout for a cheap short ram kit so i can just use the piping and put my own filter on it also.

How are the 6k HID's going for you? As soon as i get the car im getting them too :D

it took a while but i figured out how these guys did the grille mods for their euros. its pretty smart actually
http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=113016&page=26
(thats the page with the pics)
since we know that the grill is not removable (because u have to cut them off to install the mugen one) instead of cutting off the whole thing

they just cut off the middle piece with the badge and left the 2 on the top and bottom.
then they painted it like denot and then added a mesh grill behind it to stop debris. some of them even cut off and replaced the bottom grille as well next to the fog lights

pretty smart idea actually. also to get a cheap chrome sports grille like the modulo one (which is painted) u can cut all the pieces except the one holding the honda badge in the middle.
this is a cheaper and smarter solution because to install the modulo sports grille u have to cut off the 3 pieces anyway. why replace something that works just as fine. if u prefer chrome like myself, leave it and just cut the top and bottom. if u want painted like the sports grille, just paint it like denot did.

it will probably look like this http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/5379/frontedittedgrill.th.jpg (http://img689.imageshack.us/i/frontedittedgrill.jpg/)
(5 mins in photoshop)
then slap on some fake mugen badges etc etc

The bottom of the range euro doesnt have fog lights, what do you guys think of these? Dealer would probably charge a fair bit for them as an option wouldn't they?

Obviously you wouldnt drive around with a red halo etc lol but you could make the halo white and the fogs work like normal.

Furry, you dont need to cut anything o install modulo sports grille. Just replace the standard oem with the modulo one.

Also, problem with SRI is it will suck hot air frm the engine bay so there will be loss of power n not good for the engine. U will need proper heat shield to avoid this and to avoid defect (its illegal to have an open air filter)

furythree
15-03-2010, 01:23 AM
i thought u cant install mugen grille unless u cut the oem one

i guess ill stick to k&N air filter lol

i still need help with wiring cables to the dome lights. is it possible to wire stuff to the fuse? or do i have to find and tap the wires for the dome light power source?

The HIDs are really great. The colour is just what i wanted the brighter look but not the "overdone" look. 6k is perfect.

Regarding the CAI from US. Is it a direct placement to oz specs cu2? coz the driver side is different so there might be also some difference in the machine components, as in different sides?

I just couldnt bare to cut my grille;) Probably i would just do as what denot has done to the grille, which looks awesome. Another way would be to do for the modulo sport grille look, you can just paint the top and bottom part of the grille black and leave the middle piece and honda logo chrome. But i couldnt imagine how it would look like. Someone with great photoshop skills and lots of spare time might wanna try and show us!

oh man ive been looking at this all week. ur sounding like a little devil on my shoulder reading out the injen advertisement lol.
i think ill be sensible and listen to buddah and stick with air filter and not void my warranty. even tho i can simply replace the stock intake before servicing. because i plan on going short ram intake.

do the injen intakes come as seperate short ram and cai or just cai, but convertable.

Hey bro im located in kingsford. But i guess its gonna be hard to get 10 pple to buy tat kit though, too much hassle to get them together, get deposits in case some one bail out.

i was only after the rear lip kit because its the JDM style. I plan on getting the front and skirts as mugen replicas. He offered $250 + $50 postage. not bad i guess. Unpainted

where did u get ur hids again?
and how much were they.
when u replace the hids, did u change the cover as well because we have this cover over the bulb which makes it yellowish. i think its purpose is to focus the beam. do urs look whiter than stock?

Anyway, I will try to "photochopped" my grille combined with the one before I paint and see how it goes if I remove the midle part from the painted one with the unpainted one.

Also, there's no different on engine bay for TSX and CU2 (in terms of installing CAI)

Oh fthe luxury models, we just need to change the bulbs as ours is already equipped with HIDs.. the bulb has no coating watsoever and tgh elight produced is white (6k for mine). The brands are Mtec, i got it straight from Top One Automotive. If you live nearby and wanna see the light feel free to PM me.. wheres topone located?

i was thinking of wrapping carbon fiber around the body kit lol. my car is already grey. im about to order 2 meters of the stuff for $50.

however its just for the rear lip, and i dont think it would look good all around. Im pondering this idea because ive seen alot of cars with the bottom lip as black/dark grey irregardless of the colour of the car.

example is the full rear modulo bumper, i believer the area near the exhaust is black. or toyota aurion sportivos have a black area near the exhaust area of the rear lip. so i think carbon fiber would look good.

for me im going to buy the kit one way or the other so i prepared myself to pay for spraying, just thought carbon fiber might be a cheaper option

I am interested to know the load rating & brand of tyres you fitted?

I am interested to know the load rating & brand of tyres you fitted?

The only legal ones i could find a few months ago were Austyre 245/35/20 99v load rating.

Thought they would be super noisy, rough or have no grip in the dry or wet but you know what, i haven't had any problems and they're not noisier than any low profile 20" tyres that i've heard before. A lot of the flash from moulding still left on the tyre though if there is one thing to complain about so far.
