So I received my HIDs today! Went straight to the Honda Dealer after uni today to purchase my foggies :)...

Installed them at night...took roughly 3-4 hours with 2 friends helping...would've been quicker if maybe it was daylight haha.

Here's a pic of the final test run I did...I also realised my LED parkers have busted =(

Guys, I bought 2 of the K&N filters for the CU2 from the states to make it cheaper because the shipping was quite expensive.
I have one left, and I'm happy to let it go for the cost price, no profit.
It made a difference in my car with slightly more power/better fuel economy and better noise.
It's AU$70, I'm in parramatta NSW or can post for cost price anywhere in oz.

Haha I have no clue on how to do overlays...by the way!! Bad News....I found out that my foggies' HIDs are constantly flickering (barely noticeable) but still =\...emailed the seller just now and asked them what to do :(

Angel Eyes ayyyy. I've always been a big fan of angel eyes lol. Seen the "H1" Angel eyes on ebay for about $170 or so. Instead of the "dotted" ring, its just a solid ring.

It's just one single white LED (costs $4.00 from what i saw on the packaging price tag before my supplier opened them and installed them), my H.I.D supplier put them in for me for free so they would suit my H.I.D's cos it looked funny having yellow parkers and hardcore white Low Beams. Though i would prefer blue ones.

haha thanks, and definately better than stock lights! next thing i'm gonna do is get the mugen replica kit, i've decided to go mugen instead of type s, cos my girlfriend LOVES the look of the mugen grill, haha nothing better than women's intuition ay? LOL!

Did your CX7 have 6000k? Best explanation would be: 5000k Pure/Factory White; which is what the CU2 Lux uses, 6000k = Diamond White; which is still white but a tiny tinge of blue. I would say 6000k is most common, as not many ebay sellers sell 5000k (from what I could find). Different HID kits may variate, coz when I put mine next to (I think) albii's, his seems more "pure" white than mine, and we're both using 6000k

Here's a pic of comparison

Totally agree with Tony that every kit is slightly different. Some higher quality kits like Phillips are heaps more brighter, have a wider angle and a decent cutoff. But if your like me and not too fussed, and just want something better than stock then a cheaper kit is all I need. Mtec ones are great! Mate of mine has them on his colt.
Just remember though, any color higher than 5000k starts to lose "brightness".

Oh yea congrats on the foggies!!

No worries mate, I tried to look for 5000k sellers on ebay, and there are barely any that sell 5000k for a reasonable/cheap price. Cheapest one I found is this one here (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Xenon-HID-BULBS-Conversion-Kit-H1-H3-H7-3000-4300-5000K-/310250600877?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item483c6079ad#ht_4399wt_911). I paid $54 for my H11 kit, only took a week to arrive to. Though I still need to test out nesterjester's ballast to figure out if it's my kit that's faulty or that I need a relay =(. Kwang:

$169 for the kit plus $55 per sensor( total 4), you will need a 19.5mm drill bit if you want to go for the OEM one, I got mine for $60....
and I paid $299 for the foggies,I think you got them cheapier.

$169 for the kit plus $55 per sensor( total 4), you will need a 19.5mm drill bit if you want to go for the OEM one, I got mine for $60....
and I paid $299 for the foggies,I think you got them cheapier.
Holy crap they're not cheap are they :S Thanks for the heads up

Yeah, remind me of this stupid RX driver on the weekend bump my car and then run away. I followed him till shopping center carpark, he almost hit 3 elderly people until I stop infront of him to confront him. Lucky theres no scratch or dent. only tyre marks.

Hey Nester,Just wondering how much did you pay for your front lip and rear bumper? are the OEM or aftermarket, they looks great!!

Meemoo, Andrew (nesterjester), got his entire lip kit from Paul at Bodykitskingdom,
luckily for him he got it for $500 and something from an auction on ebay which Paul posted up.
now if you done a little bit of reading on this thread, bodykitskingdom has been a "huge hit" to us CU2 owners because of such cheap good looking bodykits.
They are aftermarket, however they look really good.

here are your options:

Type S Kit:
http://www.bodykitskingdom.com.au/euro-8th.htm
Mugen Replica Kit:
http://www.bodykitskingdom.com.au/euro-8th-mugen.htm

hope this helped!

The quality is good, otherwise we wouldn't recommend it! Front lip is about $250-300, same goes with the side skirt - unpainted. It's recommended that you get it painted in Sydney coz if the paint is damaged through freight, Bodykits Kingdom isn't responsible for it. I can get you a price for the shipping cost to Sydney, just shoot me a PM with your Suburb & Postcode.

As for the comparison, they are slightly different. The Modulo side skirts are a bit more plain and I think they are fibreglass, rather than plastic - Polyurethane if you're looking at the Type S.

Thans Kwang, I think OEM frontlip is around $480, so for the aftermarket one is 300(lip)+30(shipping)+100 paint, now my question will be is it worth it to save $50 for all these trouble or just pick a painted OEM lip from honda? but the sideskirt sounds pretty good I must say. :), anyway need to save some $$ first lol
btw when are you getting yours?

Sorry I've updated the modulo side skirt, I accidentally posted a Mugen one lol. I'm not sure how much the "under spoiler" Honda sells costs. But I'm pretty sure it would cost more than $480. I'll get you a quote on that through my dealer while I'm here lol. Because I know the front Modulo Bumper is around $900 on it's own.

If you were to get through Honda, it's already $1.1k for only front lip and side skirt. Probably a couple hundred more than the Type S/Mugen Kit, then they're all again different styles. But I suppose it's a definite colour match through Honda...It's really up to you.

Bodykit Kingdom doesn't actually paint it, they recommend/get another company called "AJ'S Performance" to do so. I took a look at nesterjester's kit and the colour matching is pretty accurate, considering it's black. However if you don't live in Brisbane and want to get the side skirt shipped to you, it's not recommended to get it painted in Brissie coz the paint can be scratched or damaged through freight. So you're better off just going to somewhere local and get it painted there.

to Meemoo, if your going to get this kit, i reckon it's a massive rip off, go for the Type S kit from bodykitskingdom, will save you some money and will look really good, and heaps of good reviews on this thread about it of how good it fits, but it's up to you.

1.1k for only front lip and side skirts whereas from bodykits kingdom, Type S Front Lip and Side Skirt is $600 if you want the entire kit including the rear bumper it's $850, and the Type S Kit look pretty much the same as this OEM front lip you want to buy.

What Simon says is true, but don't forget on top of that there's painting and shipping from Bodykits Kingdom...Maybe $200 (depends on how much it is wherever you are) for painting and max $50 for shipping. So probably about $850 all up. Don't forget I can most likely organise a cheaper price for both of you guys, when you're serious in actually purchasing the kit :)

on another note i got my grill repainted cos i epically failed with my paintwork! hahah went to AJ performance, and they are really busy lately! pauls bodykits are giving them heaps of business!!

anyways just a thing for anyone in brissie who visits them. I got my grill painted (paint matched) and bogged (because i effed up my bogging work, it was my first time OK!) for $150 because they have to mix a certain amount so something little still gonna cost $150 and they said they can do touch ups for free. they can always do a better deal if you have more stuff to paint i.e bodykits + spoilers etc. Just an idea tony if you want to get your kit painted from them to touch up the other bits you want fixed for free. Makes me think I should have got my door painted dammit ..

anyways i just thought id like to update you guys on some eyelids for those who havent seen them... heres one for the ricers ..

fully sick brooooo...but yeh it sucks to have a faulty bulb! :(...did you get warranty on it or just buy another? lol
I'm tempted to get the intake now coz of the exchange rate! If I do get the intake AND the kit, I'll probably stop there and save up for my next car lol...fully have my eye on a BMW series ;)

btw Andrew, how's the fuel economy with the intake installed? (when driving "sanely") haha, i've heard stories that it "improves" the economy and at the same time other stories that say it makes it worse.

hello all :
sorry to hijack the topic slightly, love to get an Injen intake too.......

like to share my recent mods to my white CU2, mainly the grill and wheels.
Got the idea originally from the those Russian sites/mods, and then of course, seeing how cool nesterjester's grill (and kits) are, got me going with my own mods.
the slight difference is that i have left the 'H' on, thought i will see how it looks, can always cut it out later again (will be painful but not impossible) :honda:

let me know what you guys think! after all, most of the motivation came from this forum/thread !

also, not sure if i should lower the car still, give me some suggestions!

very nice grille, get the jdm red front badge and would look awesome..

few questions guys:

1) have you noticed the new feature in mercedes cars with one foglight lighting up when signals are turned on (right indicator on with right foglight on)? is it possible to be done in cu2?

2) you know when you press unlock button in european cars, the foglights turned on (courtesy light i suppose). Is it possible to be done in cu2 too?

thanks!

suggestions from me are similar to everyone else, replace the stock H badge with a JDM Type R Red H Badge.
just email Leo from JDM Concept and he should notify you which badge will fit perfectly to replace that H Badge.

nice lemonhead!! looks awsome mate! always good to inspire people! I like how you opted to go with the "H". I red "H" would finish it off nicely. I also like how you left the inner grill dark, helps it stand out alot more!

Its a fairly tricky mod, but you need to see it in person to really see the difference.

as I said before I would upload pics of my revamped grill which is basically repainted and fibreglassed. My friends at AJ's did a great job on the paintwork, and Im heaps happy with it.

I also had the other half of the overlays laying around so I decided to put them on to see how they look, tell us what you think about them. (Before I only had overlays on my indicators) I think they look a little too ricey. haha
theyll be coming off this weekend.

sorry about the pics, they were rushed and all I had on my camera.

Haha Tony. It's funny because my friends have said the same thing to me when they cruise with me and see me take off. All I've to my engine is remove the 'pollution filter from our stock intake tubing. If you guys don't know what I'm talking about, have a look at you intake piping now and you will notice a black cube block sticking out on the side of the piping. My H.I.D installer (wh owns a tank ass evo, and did the same thing as a cheap substitute as a louder intake) suggested I take it off and fill the left over hole with a bathroom plug from bunnings if I want it to sound a little more agressive. Honestly I didn't notice much difference except more of a suction noise. But my friends seemed to notice it :S . I can take photos of it if you like.

hey man check out my video above. the pollution filter is probably the same as the intake resonator. its on the driver side near the wheel well. its only 2 bolts. make sure to remove your bumper and pull down and twist it. that resonator is what makes the car quiet.

my car sounds like a beast when it hits 3k rpm.

http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l175/aznvi/IMG_0444.jpg
http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l175/aznvi/IMG_0443.jpg

this is what i noticed:
after taking it off and revving on Idle, much more deeper suction noise, sounds a little more aggressive.
I was suggested that i were to fill the left over hole with a bathroom plug, which i didn't have at the time, so i had to drive to bunnings with a hole in my intake!
Suction noise while driving was much more different than stock at around 3000 rps.
Here's the funny thing. I came to a stop at a red light, and the steering wheel started to shake, and my engine completely shut off, followed by two lights on the dashboard: "Oil" and "Battery" lights came on.
I SHIT MYSELF, I WAS STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF A MAIN ROAD!
my friend who was with me at the time remained calm and told me to chuck my hazard lights on and pop my hood again, he ran to the front, shoved the block back in and told me to start it, fortunately it did..
I'm thinking that the ECU thought there was an oil leak or battery fail (hence the lights) which was forcing hot air into the intake (since i was driving with a hole in my intake), so it shut off automatically?
So i ended up getting the bathroom plug to replace the block, with the hole covered, didn't sound as deep as an open hole.

Overall conclusion: Not worth doing.

defcon's modification of removing the resonator looks much more effective for a cheap substitute for a loud intake.

Simon! That must have scared the sh*t outta ya! Like some of the brissie boys suggested I removed my intake resonator and it is loud as! I never had any problems with error lights etc. It is a cheap alternative to a short ram intake. And its quite loud 3000rpm and up. So I reckon u go for that option. It won't cost you a cent(unless you don't have the tools)

On another note with error lights; if anyone gets a ethrottle booster make sure you secure it well. I got lazy and had the box sitting on the platform just above the pedals and it rolled around and slipping out of it's connectors. Result; VSA light and check engine light. Once I pushed the connectors back in the lights were off.
Note for anyone who does the resonator removal then goes to cai. The cai is definately not as loud as short ram or with the resonator removed but you do feel the difference in acceleration in mid revs and high revs.

Hey mate I'm using a buddyclub ethrottle and honestly don't drive much without it. In regards to fuel consumption I have my set on pretty high so I hit 3000rpms quickly but I havent notice any effects on fuel consumption. As with hood lift dampers I haven't seen any for our cu2s and I'm pretty sure the gen 1 tsx or cl9 wouldn't suit our cu2

yeah, after suspension city installed my tein's, they said that my rear wheels will be on a negative camber, in my opinion, it looks pretty cool, kind of like i'm running on a camber kit on a certain degree haha, but when driving on the freeway i noticed the alignment was pretty off! so pretty dangerous! they said to me drive 100-200km's so the springs settle in and then book in for alignment.

now that my car's lowered, i look at stocky CU2's and measure their side mirrors with mine to see how low my car actually is, and their reaction when they see the space between my tyres and the fenders compared to theirs is hilarious, not boasting or anything, but the feeling is great when i see another CU2.

i look at stocky CU2's and measure their side mirrors with mine to see how low my car actually is, and their reaction when they see the space between my tyres and the fenders compared to theirs is hilarious, not boasting or anything, but the feeling is great when i see another CU2.

HeHeHeHe... guilty. me too ;););)

yes 100 pages, well doen people!!
I have just dropped my Euro with the Eibach Pro-spring, but noted a fair bit of 'in-toeing' with the rear wheels after. Did you guys noted that after dropping your cars?
i have booked in for an alignment tomorrow as I may wear out those new 19" tyres if i don't do anything about it.

You"ll most likely need a rear camber kit.If CU2 is like CL9 there is no adjustment for rear camber.

Guilty as charged, me 3 LOL...Happy 100th page milestone everyone :). Seeing I'm on holidays now I can start doing stuff to my car!! Woooo!! First step...removing the resonator (hopefully this weekend) :P...See how that goes then onto organising my mugen kit :)...

I'm also considering getting the Mugen Replica Grill off Paul now, what do you guys think?? I'll probably won't be getting rims for my CU2...too far of a stretch, especially when I want to upgrade in a few years time :P

Cheers!

i'll hopefully remove my resonator by end of this week too :D

as for rims, getting these (http://www.ttf.com.au/content/wheels/brands-and-styles/zion?brand=GMAX) as a christmas present off the parents!

Oh nice! Rims aren't bad lookin' :P...I was thinking of going for some Wedsports coz my mate had it on his FD2 (before he wrote it off lol). They were really nice looking BBS replicas! I wish my parents showered with me such nice presents :P

As for the grill - I can't find the grill on JDM concept (unless I'm blind lol). Tried eBay too, couldn't find it! I was just planning to get a replica mugen grill + the mugen badge/emblem :3

Have you checked for size? cos last time i called up the supplier for these.. he did not have any 19' in stock and never got back to me to let me order them.. hope you have better luck!! great x.mas pressie.

this was my other choice.. a bit on the wild side, quite popular in JP

Oh cheers! Yeh I remember I've seen it on their site...$540 for just the grill is a bit of a stretch though haha (I'm trying to save as much as I can :P)...See what happens neway.

As for the BBS replicas, they were still 2.2k shipped from HK :S Not tooo bad but still pretty exxy for replicas if you ask me :P

yeah those are abit on the wildside arn't they?
not really into the multispokes style though, I LOVE MY 5 spoke whereas the girlfriend loves "split spokes", so i thought i get abit of both 5 spokes that are split haha!
havent checked for sizes yet, heading to the tyrefactory tomorrow for a quick quote on 19's, see how i go. :D

As far as I know they should fit with the stock mounting, coz it's just a cu2 bumper with a "modified" look :P. Not too sure though. As for the sensor holes -> probably best to ask the dealer to throw it in and drill it in for you coz I've heard getting the drill bit for the sensors isn't cheap.

I'm also planning to replace my rear bar/get it fully repaired...haven't been bothered going back to the guy who touched it up (and did an extremely poor job). How much was your quote for a modulo bar? I don't mind getting that instead of the Mugen rear (as they're quite similar I think)

yea...might need to get them to drill the holes..coz they should have the template in hand to do a perfect line instead of me trying to get a proper position by guessing! HAHA

got quoted $817 + 10% GST for the bar...painted as well. i think it can be a DIY install.. :D
dont know if they will take the old bar as trade in!
AHHAAH...damn man! freaking scratch costs me alot today ! grrrrr....thats the disadvantage for being anal with a perfect paint! :(
its actually not that bad but i will be having nightmares if its not fixed

as for comparison with Mugen lip kit, i think the modulo looks fatter...and it blends really well witht he Mugen front bar... (NOT THE LIP KIT)

the front bar will be next purchase...prolly in a few dinasour years time :(

Hahaha!! yeah mate I know that exact same feeling, it was worse for me coz all 3 incidents were hit and runs...damn dodgy car parks...I'm also a bit anal when it comes to perfection, I was spewin' for a few days after the first one...then again for the next 2 damages lol >_<

$817 isn't too bad! Trading in the old bar wouldn't be a bad idea, I'll ask my dealer too if I do end up going with the modulo bar :P. I reckon it will look good with the Mugen lip front (the one in my avatar pic), as it's a bit more aggressive looking than the front bar.

How much did the rims cost you? where are u sourcing ur stuff from? and what springs are u using to lower ur car?

i need to find a place to install it and paint it. Anybody know anywhere in sydney that does it for cheaaaapppp? i dont really care about paint matching cause i actually reckon different shades wud make it stand out, since my car is grey. My mechanic friend kinda bailed on me last minute

actually reading back a few pages, i noticed u guys talking about springs. Which ones do you guys reccommend and which are the cheapest? I dont get what the deal is with the camber business? why is a wheel realignment neccessary? sounds troublesome, i thought springs were a simple business.

fury:

my experience is with Eibach pro-kit, once the car is lowered, likely due to the set up and geometry of the suspension, the rear wheels ended up with a negative camber and with a slight in-toeing. The front wheels also had a minor in-toeing issue, but i think that was probably from the driving beforehand :)

hard for me to explain what the actual difference are, maybe try google.. hehe

i think the negative camber is not too bad as most race cars have that set up for better grip especially during cornering. However, your tyres will wear out much quicker on the inside and will not last as long.
Intoeing, from what I was told, is a disaster, as that will really make the car unsteady and damage the tyres, so worthwhile aligning your wheels again after running in those newly installed springs.

once i had the car aligned after the springs were in, the car definitely drive much smoother.

guys, please correct me if there is something wrong in what i said.

front has 0 camber

does anyone know what are the difference in measurement of the actual drops with these springs?
I remember seeing it somewhere in this thread before, but can;t find it now.

still getting over how nice that full Mugen Kit was on the blue CU
No worries mate.

fury:

my experience is with Eibach pro-kit, once the car is lowered, likely due to the set up and geometry of the suspension, the rear wheels ended up with a negative camber and with a slight in-toeing.

Cheers for the info -> so you're running Eibach springs?...Does anyone know the exact differences between the 4 sets of springs? It'll be awesome if someone does a comparison! :P

+1 to that! i too would like a comparison
And i swear i remember seeing the mugen wing for around $500, no idea where 1.4k came from

Lemonhead, how much does realignment usually cost? if i understood you correctly, you need realignment because the wheels essentially sit at an angle because the springs lower the car at the back thus pushing downwards on the inside. so from behind you car looks like this:

/---\ instead of |---|

is that correct? (yes the vertical lines are the wheels and the dashes are the bottom lip of ur car)

and by 0 camber, do you mean the front wheels had no issue?

either way, i need to have my bloody kit installed first to see if i need to lower it.

No body has any idea of where i can find cheap kit install+paint in sydney?

regardless of alignment or not, the rear camber will can not be adjusted back to 0 degrees UNLESS you purchase a camber kit to correct the camber. there's just not enough allowance from the stock set up for us to bring the camber back to 0.

Thats the issue im having at the moment as well. but 2.5 degrees is still not too bad if ou dont drive 300kms a day everyday. Whats actually really killing the tyres is the toe in/toe out of the wheel. :)
hope this helps

yes, why didn't i think of using symbols...
yes a negative camber in the real wheels is like you diagram, looking from behind the car /----\
in-toeing of the rear is also like the diagram but looking from above the car /----\
the front wheels had little changes , sounds like yungquan had similar findings with his car

got a 4 wheel alignment for $65 at Bob Jane, took a bit longer than usual due to new springs.. they said.
but make you you don;t rush off to align the wheels too quickly after installation of the new springs, as the springs need time to settle in, maybe around 100-200km? at least, and yes during that time the wheels are not going to be wearing so good, but well, cannot get the best of both worlds.

YES.. i would love to see a compariosn btw the different springs too, liek to knwo what the difference in drops are.

for Eibach Pro-Kit springs, the listed drop is 1.6inch front and 1.4inch rear

Hey guys, hope you dont minde a cl9 guy posting :P. My car is lowered, and also has a negative camber in the real wheels, front is fine. I remember I took it once to pedders to ask them bout a camber kit, they said from memory around 1200-1400$ for the kit.

I then figured, well if the tyres did wear out quicker, by not installing the kit at least I could buy a new set of tyres with the money I save. That was my logic anyway. So far done 10,000km on the new tyres I put in, gonna rotate them and see how they are. On a weekly basis I only drive around on avg 50 or so km (damn u cbd parking). Cheers

TONY! i'd thought i'd give a good friend a hand so here's a little comparison between TEIN, EIBACH and H&R i put together.
Hope it helps for everyone.

Note: I'm not sure if H&R is accurate, gotta have to ask mr. Nesterjester haha.

I would rep you but I already did a while ago haha...they won't let me do it again! :P Anyways so the difference is just the drop height ay...I don't know if I want to get them, after hearing all about the camber kit n stuff...sounds like such a hassle and lots of $$...:P...sigh I wish money grew on trees :(

*sigh, i wish money grew on trees too!

with my springs, after getting them installed i also faced the negative camber issue on the rear wheels, they said get it alligned after 200k's of driving on the fresh new springs so they can settle in and it should run smooth again once it's all aligned. i still haven't booked in an alignment yet! and i've done over 600K's of driving! my friends however like the look of the negative camber degree on the rear wheels! haha!
