i piece of metal bar drilled to suit the seat mount holes., then mount the FE to the bar. took around 30 min, cos we had to cut the bar shorter with a hand saw.

like Riced_Civic said, had to use longer bolts to bolt seat back down (30mm), also used a 5mm thick washer between metal plate and seat rail to stop the seat rail U shape flattening.

Removed my door trim and stopped the door lock on the driver side from rattling. Stuck some foam in behind the rod, doesn't make a noise now :).
Also tightened up a bolt that held the window brace in place, was causing the window to rattle uncontrollably when the window was anywhere but all the way up.

Nice work mate but does that foam deteriorate after time? perhaps even use heatshrink? i will be giving this a go as well .. as my drivers side door lock rattles too .... only on the freeway lol

It might do, it's actually just foam from the cushion of an old lounge (which my dog tore up). It's working a charm at the moment and it may deteriorate eventually, but it was a cheap, easy option at the time. Plus I have a ton of the stuff thanks to my dog lol.
Mind you, it took a bit of experimenting to get it to fit perfect, sometimes I put too much foam in which prevented the door from unlocking.
An unfortunate side effect of my experimenting is that the passenger side door no longer unlocks itself. When I unlock the car, the passenger lock will bounce open, but doesn't seem to have enough force to open the lock completely, so the door effectively stay locked. It still happens even if I remove the foam completely.

I installed Mfactory shifter bushings today.. nice and crisp gear changes :)
Interesting, i guess i will have to experiment with different types of materials too!! thanks for the heads up, will be doing this over the weekend.

Amazing how much better it looks just by lowering a bit, nice work.
How much did you lower it by exactly? Experienced any rubrub during turns, going up driveways or doing u-turns?

Cheer's man pretty happy with how she's sitting now tbh,car is exactly how i envisioned it when i first bought it thanks to the coilovers ... new lower profiled tires soon cause the ones atm are stuffed so she'll be going lower to have the same gap as it is now.
I really am not sure aye.. my mate and i were just working on one side at a time.. and when it was right we'd just copy the lengths on the other.. Yeah i had king springs last week and id rub everywhere with my 50 profile tires... put in coils and the past 3 days no rubbing at all .. turning sharply, doing u-turns and going up driveways.. (the only thing that scrapes is the front lip if i dont take driveways at the right angle.

Nice man, nice. I know what you mean about driveways though, the entrance to my driveway is a killer, even with my EK as stock I have to slowly go at a good angle to avoid scraping. I'm cringing at the thought of what's gonna happen when I install lips..
Speaking of scraping lips, bit of damage on Ukulelegod's front lip. Ouch man :(.
Regardless, looks good with the EK9 tail lights. Where'd you get them?

Haha. The lip is a little bit scraped, but I have fixed it before with a bit of hard work and some wet and dry.
The tail-lights are not genuine Ek9 :( Haha.
I did a DIY on a set of Facelift lights off an Ek1. It was an easy job, and looks just as good (to me anyways).

Ive got the same clutch with the matching lightened flywheel in my K and i must tell you its very grippy and aggressive.
Apparently its got a 500mile bead/wear in process. This is what CC recommends. Otherwise youll get a shuddering pedal and take off feel.

i purchased this clutch thru a seller on ebay,
the guy was very helpful and he has alot of experience in race/track cars (thought he was young, but he wasnt at all)
i asked him about beading in/running in the clutch, he told me, just to drive the car normally ( not spirited/or hillclimbing)
also, he reccomended (and CC website) to match the clutch with matching cc flywheel, reduces chattering and shudder
cant wait to get this thing in!
if you guys want the contact please lemme know, hook a honda bruva up

http://i47.tinypic.com/apb3ur.jpg
Very nice! Great work on sourcing OEM parts, good to see!
Thanks mate! I just want the best :D
One of the previous owners put HIDs in the EK9 headlights, burnt some of the plastic so now theres some faint fogging where the bright spots are. I'll get the plastic reconditioned when i have money to spend after doing all the major stuff to the car, not a biggie, i'm just picky. Great deal nonetheless :D
Also got a set of these off a mate for dirt cheap as he's moved onto a skyline.

Had a replica twin loop installed on my EK, sounds amazing. :)
However, the twin loop had a huge 4" cannon-style tip on it which just would not work on the EK. Was too long, too fat, so I replaced it with a smalled, angled tip. Looks awesome. :)

Fair enough... ive felt buckles like that when going 80+ had it happen to a oem toyota rim once and a 17" chinese rim another... it's only slight but ive felt an extra vibration.

Dis-agree, ive got set of buckled rims sitting in the garage, similar to whats shown, whilst drive at 100kmp/h vibrations is terrible! low - mid speed range its ok, noticeable but bearable to drive
Most rim repairers places would attempt to fix it, but always 50/50 that it will crack if tried to repair an get thrown away, happened to me once

when i was driving home i could feel a little vibration on the steering wheel while only doing 60-70kph,when i got home i saw it and jacked the car up and spun the wheels to see and you can just see it straight away it was stuffed, also to i need a new wheel alignment the steering is out from that.

$283 + $10 shipping for Whiteline reinforcement kit and 22mm rear sway bar from Online Peformance in Melbourne. Difference: not dramatic as I'm already on coil overs but theres now a tendency to oversteer lol.
$60 shipped for c pillar bar from eBay USA diff: prob none just there for the bling, have rear strut tower bar installed in boot too.
With everything in rear end feels significantly stiffer.

pretty cheap nice buy man,22mm is a bit big dont you recon ? mainly for the track you would use those sizes? ive only got a GLI 22mm on the front and a EM1 stock rear sway bar 14mm i think on the rear and it oversteers if i push it, cant imagine how much oversteer you would be getting with all that work.

certainly doesn't look like a one piece bar.
You have pillow ball mount each side (?) and bar in the middle, hex adjustments on either side.
if it is indeed pillow ball, would be @ least 5 pieces there, not one.
if not pillow ball, then looks like 3 piece bar.

Righto, that old design looks shocking the new one is much better, think id still prefer to get an asr subframe brace over a whiteline, would prefer to support a company that actually did research and made a decent product that works rather than just chuck out a product that rips out peoples subframes then revise it.
Let us know how you go with it, interested to see if the second version stops the subframe issues the first had.

Best way to check a motors condition is to do a compression test upon inspection, those figures don't lie. A car can have been driven hard but also have a very through/strict maintenance history, vs a car which has never seen wide open throttle but owner neglects to service it on time...
If your unsure always bring someone experienced with you when going to see the car of ask the seller of you can bring the car to a mechanic you can trust

Polished my EK on Saturday, even managed to buff out a few scratches on it (still visible, but only in the right light). Very very happy with the outcome. Topped up oil & coolant. Oil was down to just over half since last service (3,700kms ago), coolant had dropped pretty far, was just a bit above 'low' level. No leaks as far as I can tell, will be keeping an eye on it.
Was going to DIY CTR headlights, but ended up getting lazy after a pretty shit week of work. Next weekend for sure. Driver side door has also started to rattle a bit again, so will be pulling it off again. Fortunately it's fairly hard to notice, the new twin loop drowns out most noises (tyre road noise, loose hatch brake light cover & the weird squelchy, crunching noise my rear wheels/suspension make - still havent gotten around to trying lithium grease spray on the control arms etc, I really should.)

Today may be the last day of ANG-78A's appearance.
Unfortunately i got defected today (Yellow Label), 2nd time being defected. As you all may say come back bigger and better, but in the previous defect i have returned bigger and better but not anymore.
I am finished with my Ek and today was the decision maker to sell off my ek.
My defects were:
-Under 100mm from the ground
-Tyres too wide? i think they meant wheels too wide.
-Too much poke and camber
-Exposed pod filter
-B-C pillar brace, not safe for seatbelt

Well, for me, I got new coilovers (tein monoflex) and new wheels enkei racing s in 16x8 +32 all round and stretched 195/50-16
Here are some pektures of its, still need to work on front guards and lower the car a tad moarrrr
My rear left is knocking abit, I tightened my rear endlink and it was fine for a few days and is its back!
I'm thinking it's the shaft on coilover or maybe just the rubber mount on top of spring ( as oneside has and one doesnt)
Wheels aNd coilovers costed me under 1k, which was a bargain!

Found out that my previous 'fix' for my rattling driver side door lock wasn't such a good fix. Not sure if it's something to do with the change in weather (bought the car this summer, it's obviously now winter, been freezing cold & pissing down in Adelaide), but it started with the passenger side door not unlocking when I used the remote central locking. That eventually seemed to have fixed it self for a few weeks, then decided it no longer wanted to LOCK. (Went from not unlocking, to not locking)
And now, just last night, I discovered that the driver side door won't unlock anymore either. The inside lock is VERY stiff & is actually a bit of a strain to flip it open/closed by hand.. So, it looks like i'll be reopening my door & possibly taking out the foam I put in there to stop the rattling.. Seems I have to choose between an annoying rattly door lock or not being able to get in my car, lol.

pack grease at the points where your lock rods connect. If you dont know what i mean i might be able to find some pics from when i deadened my doors.

I know what you mean by the points where the lock rods connect. The rods all connect to small, white, plastic 'tabs' that rotate back and forth when you lock/unlock the doors, moving the rods etc. Not sure what you mean about packing grease though. I was gonna try some RP7 or the Lithium Grease Spray I bought ages ago but never ended up using, before removing the foam. Removal of the foam was gonna be my last option as the rattling really, really got to me and almost made me wish I never bought the car lol

i used htb grease cause i had a tub sittin round from doing mates wheel bearings, you just dip your finger in and put a big glob of grease at the point the lock rod connects, becausae its so thick it will make it hard for the rods to vibrate where they connect which is where the problems coming from.
You put a bit here
http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j480/tbmindustrys2/Untitled-5.jpg
and pack heaps around this bit

hard to say without seeing what you have done but if you have used foam to stop them vibrating then there is a good chance you have created extra resistance for the lock to open and close which would explain your problem, using grease on the point adds very very minimal resistance to the open and closeing but restricts the connections ability to vibrate.
Ive got solid polyurthane hasport mounts on my car and just using grease stopped mine rattleing.

Yeah, I would definitely say that the foam has created resistance, but that was part of the idea and it seems to have created a bit too much resistance now. The biggest problem with my lock is not really the vibrating, but the fact that the rod connected to the 'switch' (the thing you press down/flip out to lock/unlock the door) doesn't hold the switch too well, the switch is given too much leverage to move on it's own around the rod. I think that's where I'll have to pack the most grease, try and get plenty in between the 'loop' of the switch and the rod that holds it.
Regardless, I'll give this a shot, the grease is fairly inexpensive. I also just had the idea of stuffing a ton of blu-tac in/around it.. If all else fails I might just go see if I can find an EK at the wreckers & steal it's switch, or even the whole rod & switch.
Cheers for the ideas anyway, will experiment this weekend. :)
May also get around to doing DIY CTR headlights & lubing up my lower control arm pivot points to stop the squeaking.

if its really worn you could wrap the end of the lock rod in a small ammount of electrical tape to reduce the gap, then pack grease around it, i probably wouldnt use blutac as thats quite hard and sticky so might just run into the same problem again, also if the switch moves around easily you can put grease behind it on the point it mounts to make it not wobble around so easily, i did this on my passenger door as the switch would vibrate at certain rpm or bass hits and it has stopped it.

the white plastic where it clips to the door, moves a few mm in each direction, don't think htb grease will help.

You talking about that bit? my passenger side one was pretty fuked, packed htb behind it and coverd the front and doesnt vibrate now. Give it a shot if yours is vibrating, im sure you would have some htb or all pourpose grease around bau.

auto store?
HTB = high temperature bearing
or just general purpose grease.
Naice one bau.
Your just trying to restrict the rod from vibrating at the connecting points so any fairly thick grease should work. i just used htb cause i had a tub laying round.
Basically any thick grease.. will buy tomorrow and see how i go. Cheer's

Tightened up my head unit.. Was sitting a bit loose, so it was sort of flopping up and down a bit, and finally decided it wanted to make a really annoying rattling noise.
So I pulled it out and found it was the metal harness thing, wasnt really holding on tight to the dash where the stock head unit used to, so I pushed in the small triangular clips and made it grab on to the dash pretty tight.. Isn't moving anymore & isn't rattling.
...I just hope I don't have to pull the harness out for a very long time, will be a pain bending those clips back out the way to get it out.
Type R Style lip arrived.. And I don't think I like it, haha. It's gonna be a pain to fit.. I'm gonna do it anyway just to see what it's like, but I can already see myself grabbing a genuine SiR lip next week..
