On a side note, opened my door the other morning and had this thing staring at me. These are super rare where I live so I did squeal out loud a little bit.

How many volts is that machine? Does it remove or lessen swirls?

It is 125 Watt thats all i know. And it should be able to remove/lessen swirls if you use the right paste, i will recommend Meguairs Scratch X, it will remove swirls and light scratches.

Wow looks really good, I would like to learn a few techniques off you! I sprayed my front bumper then sanded it back smoothly, then clear coated it and sanded that back until smooth ( I used like 1500 ). I then proceeded to polish by hand but it doesn't come out as shiny as yours, are there any other steps?

Thanks um imo i reckon you would need to sand 1500 and then 2000 and if possible get 2500. I found 2500 gritt sandpaper at an auto paint shop to finish the sanding process off before i applied cut and polish. So yeah you would need cutting compound and then polish, i recommend meguiars for cut and polish. I tried using 2 different cutting compound and does not work as good as meguiars. It may be abit pricey but trust me its definately worth it.
Also buffing by hand is no where near as good as buffing by machine unless you really wanna give your muscles a good work out lol

very nice setup, i also wanted to install an ASR to the ek9, but it doesnt fit :( the holes for the sway bar on the EK9 don't line up like an ordinary EK1-4 does, complete fail and wasted money!
wanted it just for looks, i know some people say i don't need one, as the EK9 is already re-in-forced, but i do like the look of it

quality of this certain product is amazing and it changed my car's characteristics and the way it sounded. i'm still smiling, thats how good it is!

EK9's rear subframe was reinforced from factory. So the subframe is different to the ek1/4. ASR braces are made for non reinforced subframes, ie ek1-4. It wont fit on an EK9

perfectly legal in vic, as its fine to have one induction modification :D

as long as the filter isnt oiled, which it appears to not be than its cool with the police

an for those who wanna cruise an meetup in vic, now is the worse time to do it lol... police blitz is on the way, time to lock up the car an take public transport haha

No worries buddy. Yeah i gave it 3-5 coats of clear (first coat being pretty light, last coat being pretty thick but not running) and then gave it a day to fully cure then i sanded it.

So was bored at work today, holden didn't have any more cars for me to work on, and it was a nice day, so i decided to renew my faded and lightly scratched visors.

Wet sanding from 200 to 2000. Then using some 3M perfect-it to get rid of sanding marks and restore shine and colour.

Left was before, right was after. Was stupid, but i really wanted to see the result, so i skipped to the 3m half way. Ended up resanding it all so the finish was even. Haha

ahahaha actually suprisingly since i raised the rears abit up, i could make it up the driveway without scraping my cat that much now (Y) only scraping my lip alot lol. But yeah yours was really low ahaha i think my lowest was about 80mm since it was only abit shorter in length to my galaxy s2 and their like 110mm.

And i was thinking of going 16s but then again you dont get as much variety as you do with 15s, more choices and options if you get what i mean :) And 15s isn't too bad when you see it everyday, you'll grow into them man.

roll is roll the lip
pump is pumping it after rolling it to "pump the guards out"
lipping is when you bend the lip outwards a bit after rolling

just roll all four mat, 15x7+25 you wont need anything but dump it or just lower and roll.
roll the fronts before you munch your tyres and guards when going up drive ways, as you will be going on a angle and the suspension will compress therefore making your wheels and guard touch and munch. been there done that on all cars haha

I only rolled the rears Charles, the front i think i lipped it before i sprayed it lol didnt even realise but my front are just tucking and only scrubs when i do hard turns or go over a bump fast. Rears, so far so good, don't know if i want the rears to sit on guards, havent tried it yet, its sitting like '1 finger gap' at the moment.

Who'd you end up hiring to roll your guards, or did you YOLO it and DIY?

Any who..after much deliberation (and hesitation and putting it off) I got my ass down to the local wreckers (for probably the 5th time this month) and helped myself to some front mudflaps. $10 for the pair. That makes it $20 for the whole set front and rear flaps (got the rears first about a few weeks ago off the same car also for $10) Very happy! No idea why I kept putting it off to get them until now, maybe I just wanted the fronts for the sake of completeness. For some reason having just rear flaps on seems half-assed to me..

Nah, their Civic stock is shit. 2 preface sedans and the red facelift hatch which people jumped on and took apart pretty quick. That's all at the moment. I feel like going down again and grabbing spare screws, nuts and random tidbits that might come in handy one day when I begin to take apart and put back together my own car. Parts that people wouldn't really think twice about. But I'll keep a lookout anyways.

This was done today. $150 for the spot sprays (including paint)
Tomorrow we are cutting the clear from the whole car and giving it a buff.
Should look like new, will update this thread with photos.

That looks good dude, cant seem to spot out any orange peel from clear, you used spray gun i assume, what specs of the gun nozzle and what ratio did you mix the paint? Thinking of spraying my bonnet next month, getting tired of green and black ><"

quangsuke
26-12-2012, 10:46 AM
Mixture really depends on what paint you are buying. We used a 2:1 paint:hardener with 10% thinners.
Orange peel can also happened if your compressor is dropping pressure. None the less cut it
Back using 1500 wet and give it it a clear and buff it up.

New rims/tyres (GMax Drift6 - 17x7+43)

Now all it needs is a repray and dint/rust removal; coilovers; front grill and lip. Oh, and power :(

Yeah rims are decent sized but fill out nicely. Will see what problems i run into when lowering.

DRLs bought simply to make car more visible during the day. Not Audi style, they are next to the number plate. Wired them up so they turn off when parker/headlights are turned on.
