Hi guys, Recently i've just just started to do a conversion for my DA9 with a B18CR... but there is a slight problem in this conversion...

As we all know... DA9 gearbox runs with cable... but the b18cr tranny is hyraulic... I got a cable to hydraulic kit from the US but there is a slight problem as the company who produces this kit doesn't provide diagram and with only a instuction manual (all words)... I'm just wondering if anyone here had converted their gearbox to hydraulic... can i have some assistance pls? thanks!!!

Regards.

Nah... not using ys1... i'm using N3E that comes with LSD...

we manage to sort the hydraulic kit out on how to plug the cable to it and also the to the slave cylinder... but can't find a location to put it... the actuator too we dun even know where to put it man...

the actuator should go on the side of the g/box where the old one is.. and the slave cly assy. that u have should go where the cable comes out...

hmmmmmmm...im pritty sure this is one..http://www.buddyclub.us/buddyclub/condenser/condenser_files/condenser.gif

apparently it ....
"combineds an electrical grounding system with a battery current and voltage stabilization control unit. The unit is designed to stabilize electrical "noise" and voltage spikes and offer additional grounding for any vehicles.

Buddy Club Racing Spec Condenser maximizes the efficiency of all factory and aftermarket vehicle electrical systems and as the result you will get smoother engine operation, more efficient electrical component operation, improved electrical current and better fuel economy."

it has to do with the lower cross member, to my vague memory...the front lower cross member is different and i think maybe on the older model it is the problem....coz 89-90 audm cross member is differen't to the jdm ones...

the mounts are fitted... i got aftermarket ones... it actually show that the subframe cannot clear the b18c headers... the headers is 4-2-1 which is a 2 piece the 4 has not issue... is the 2-1 that hits the lower subframe...

To all the da boys what suspension setups are people running? All comments welcome whats good/Bad if people just have springs or coilovers. blah blah..

thanks.

thescotty
30-10-2008, 05:09 PM
king lows...i dont do track so no need for coilovers etc...they give the ride a nice hieght although could be lower (kikzx has the same but compressed the rears so rears lower, looks good but dont think it lasts as long).....takes $100 to buy and 2 hours to put in with a friends. there abit stiffer then stock but meh. are u after everyday driving or track?

sheppsz
30-10-2008, 05:20 PM
This is for street but from what i have read just springs with stock shocks will start leaking and just kill them. And what about the camber.?

thescotty
30-10-2008, 05:28 PM
then get shocks and springs...the stock shocks if there in good condition wont die on low springs for a while..if u have super low then yeh theyll be dead quick..i have mates who cut super lows to be lower and have had no problems for quite some time now. but not adviced lol....if u have the money and want to spend like a grand on suspension go coilovers. for camber im not sure ask spoon(blackstone)

Spoon DA9R
30-10-2008, 08:22 PM
neg camber will appear as u lower the car...the more u low the more camber..u can get camberkit to fix that...

unless u get gd shocks and springs...i tend to find it hard to get the right combination...but i know Kings Springs still makes them...and they are pretty gd as is, obviously overtime it will kill the shocks then u upgrade the shocks when that happens

sheppsz
30-10-2008, 08:37 PM
I would prob make the drop 1.5 nothing to harsh the Da chassis is already low but the more and more i read people say don't do it cheap. cheers for the info. thinking of spending something around $800. Do you know much about eibach springs?? and getting some good shocks to go with them...

FR33K
30-10-2008, 08:58 PM
for $800 (prob bit more now due to the shit AUD) you could get Ground Control coils (uses eibach springs) with koni yellows
I had this combination and i loved it.. you can even choose your spring rates when you order.

the DA's are nearing 20 years old so the chances are putting lowered springs on any stock shock will kill them pretty quickly

Spoon DA9R
30-10-2008, 09:12 PM
yeah for 800 bucks u can get coilover already..or some 2nd ones

the centre of the front bumper bar is what im talking about just under the number plate

The first Question you should be asking yourself is "Do i want Performance or looks"

Answer that and it will help alot.

bradess
07-02-2009, 12:57 PM
a bit of both i guess, as long as it doesnt make my car slower... and then again i dont want to be spending a shit load of money.

SHOGUNOVDDRK
07-02-2009, 01:02 PM
I guess the realistic thing to do would be to get a Catback done rather then spend a fortune on a WHOLE exhaust.

Really depends how power oriented you are

I guess the realistic thing to do would be to get a Catback done rather then spend a fortune on a WHOLE exhaust.

Really depends how power oriented you are

and wat exactly is a catback , and how much $$$ am i looking at? thanks

SHOGUNOVDDRK
07-02-2009, 01:06 PM
Well the term Catback speaks for itself (really)

Its a exhaust that goes from the Cat (Catalyct converter) back to your tip.

Amirite? (google could help, 56k cant save you now)

Depends what the exhaust shop is like, what you provide (i.e muffler etc) and the quality.

Zackk
08-02-2009, 10:03 PM
So I've got a 4" Cannon on my Teg DA9, I think it's a Catback like you said, but I don't really follow, and I'm not sure if mine would improve performance or not.

Google tells me that the Catalyct converter is basically a tank before the end of the exhaust and generally under the car and not up in the engine bay? The exhaust I've got installed replaced the previous one, so does that make it a full exhaust? And would this improve performance?

Also, if I was to add a Pod filter to make my engine look a bit cleaner, would it give me any performance improvements without adding a box? Keeping in mind that the battery is right beside it, in between the filter and the engine?

thescotty
09-02-2009, 03:47 PM
id say just go all out and buy a full exhaust system....cannons are a piece of shit, everyones been there and everyones moved on and never turned back...they just bring unwanted attention to your car from gay Cu**ts and police (and on the downside the epa)

If your lucky enough like me go and scout the trading post and car wreckers..i picked up my full exhaust from extractors straight through 2.5" exhaust system for 190 bucks cause the dude didnt no anything about it...

even going to a exhaust shop and paying the extra dollar for a brand new one that will give your car a good note and better power and possibly saving a lil fuel will be far worth it!

A-man
09-02-2009, 03:58 PM
the cannon doesnt really have much purpose just noise its prob no diff u running no exhaust at all

a full exhaust is what it states a full exhaust system remade for a performance gain

the exhausts on hondas are really restrictive because they like to keep noise down, and this means they restricting power aswell when u do exhausts u get a gain

but doing things like new cats headers etc. ur making it breath better giving u more power again

everyone is different i personally like the look at me im loud but at the same time my teg isnt overly loud unless it giving it heaps

so how u gain power is from mandrel bends instead of press bent systems (though its minimal)
headers get the air in and out as fast as u can
and cat (helps get it out if its restrictive its not gonna help)

the cat is just for emissions my old cars never used to have one or i bashed them out and had a hollow center

Zackk
09-02-2009, 04:12 PM
Okay, so far what I've gotten is that putting a 2.5" exhaust Catback would give me a bit more power because it's forcing the air straight out, I understand that.

Is there any point modding my car considering it's not a V-tech model? In fact I'm not even sure what type of engine it has in it, can anyone help me out? :) I'm still a noob, before you flame aha.

I was actually considering buying a V-tech engine and putting that into my car in the near future, because I'll be spening alot on repairs, nearly as much as it's worth, so instead of ditching the car, just replacing the engine and modding it up as much as I can without going past NA (I'm still on my P's)

Thoughts, suggestions?

thescotty
09-02-2009, 08:01 PM
you would have a B18a like most of us here... so no vtec :s

There alright engines but just dont have much power...Aman turbod his and as far as i know its going pritty good...its up to you what you want to do with your engine. if you have the money then swap engines.

Zackk
09-02-2009, 10:14 PM
Ah okay, I've looked into the advantages of V-tec a little bit, I know a little bit about it, and am learning more, slowly but surely.

How much would it cost approximately to switch engines? and would my B18a be worth anything? Because my thoughts are that it's a fairly basic engine, so without the car, no-one would buy it.

I'll probably just upgrade I'm thinking :) Although this is very very long term :p

A-man
09-02-2009, 10:43 PM
once there in they worth more

however.... i dont think its worth it u need to rewire the dash and add wires for the vtec unless u have a da9 harness with vtec engine

i think vtec engines r a little overrated
some guys change the cams to killer cams pointless if u doin this to ur car coz ull have no vtec anyways...

but u need to work out what u want... im quiet happy with my car atm except tune

i need to tune it up more was to lean on the dyno i made 143whp at 4000rpm on 4psi boost

Zackk
10-02-2009, 12:25 AM
So V-tec's aren't that much better performance wise then a B18a?

I'm not really sure what I want, I'm still learning and need to get some cash together to test the waters ;)

thescotty
10-02-2009, 10:19 AM
well yeh they are better then B18a but what some people say is for the amount of power gain u get compared to the amount of cash and effort you put into getten the engine in the car it doesnt really seem worth it sometimes...

do an LS/Vtec or reco your engine and turbo it like Aman thats more unique!

think she ment rep.. as in hoon, muzza lol, wanker, fully bro!!!, you no all that shit...

have something not to loud but not to quite that has a nice note to it and make sure the exhaust actually does some gains for your car and trust me you will love it even more then the cannon cause cannons are loud from foot down, nice exhaust systems get louder as revs go up and changen gears sounds better then cannons

A-man
10-02-2009, 11:31 PM
i got a cannon on my eg i like it its wanky but i like it...

i think if ur worried bout money i wouldnt worry bout vtec coz if moneys a prob or u aint prepared to throw money at the car u shouldnt do them up... saying that its fun and thats y i do it i love it

weather its workin on my car or other peoples car obviously others cars i get paid for so i like it more lol

3 yrs wtf

the dacrew has taken off lately....

Yeah I know, the laws are ****ed up.

Have to be on my red P's for a year, only allowed 1 passenger that isn't blood or under 21 in my car between 11pm and 5am or something, onto the green P's which just gets rid of the curfew I'm fairly sure. It's crap.

So no forced induction for 3 years.

Any mods I can do to get my performance going pretty nicely without going past NA?

If it's even worth it? :(

And DA Crew has helped me out alot already, great little site, and it's nice to find other people that love their car as much as I do :p

Jon_51
24-02-2009, 04:13 PM
i put an s2k style one on mine. I like how it looks, you can angle it so it doesn't have any overhang or stick out on a funny angle.
it doesn't get the best reception, but that might be due to wiring.
though i dare say nothing can match the reception of a da9 antenna/fishing pole.

Also, while we are on the subject, anyone know where to get one of those internal aerials from? I have heard of ones that stick on the inside of the glass and others that can go under the internal linings.
I was thinking of mounting an aerial upside down under the rear bumper. reckon that would work?

You can get universal honda antennas at autobarn as well. And I've seen some done where the antenna is just a wire, and people have threaded it through the spoiler to hide it. Slightly poorer reception vs cosmetics I guess.

I'd rather have the hole left behind filled to be honest...

Would you just put a bit of plaster behind it thenh fill it in with clay, then paint?

Nah, it would crack in no time. Hole would have to be welded up first. If it were to be all done professionally you would be looking at about$400-$500.

Yeah agree.
I was stupid about 5 years ago, I had that panel resprayed to get rid of a scratch as well as fix up a few other things. wish I had the antenna hole removed at the same time now. Same with the stupid little water squirter on the roof which does not work on my car anyway (not that i have a rear wiper).

I have also seen the antenna relocated to the roof where the aforementioned squirter sits similar to a lot of newer cars such as the new commodore etc.

Yeah I'm too lazy to remove my antenna, but when I do I was just gonna shave it if my panel work got to that point.

Thanks.
I actually have an OEM kit with all the pieces waiting to go on her at some point. Needs a bit of work though cos some of the parts are cracked.
Turbo has been the priority lately and I want to do some more suspension work so the bodywork may have to wait till the end of the year.
Unfortunately she looks abit silly at the moment cos she is about 3 inches higher than those photos until I sort out our new house's driveway dilemma..
