i got dba rotors 4000 series slotted.and ultimate pads on my rear brakes, however gonna go lucas pads for the fronts, def DBA rotors, there slots are good, for DBA4474SL and SR, for front and DBA4475SL and SR for back. if your interested, they are pretty well priced 220rrp but u can get em alot cheaper.

16-03-2010, 11:09 PM
here are a few pics,
the car was reversed into on the front left guard with a boat trailor apparently,
hmmm faded paint (doesnt bother me, always wanted to respray the next car i got)
rego runs out on the 18th this month, so i wanna do the brakes, prep for paint, re register the car, wheels, coil overs, paint the car, put my recaros in that have been laying around for 2 years, and eventualy a new motor :)

lil bits and pieces through out the process aswell..

its all about the money tho, so maybe take a year lol

16-03-2010, 11:12 PM
ohh and the guy i baught it off told me it had a lil interior leak under the dash,
i figured i knew the problem, n i was right..
the drains in the guards were completely blocked with leaves n shht..
so thats why i removed the bar n guards..

im happy with $600, the car is mechanicaly A1, and i always planned to re-spray the next car i got, so i wasnt looking for a imac body, i was looking for neat interior and a good engine :)

Spoon DA9R
18-03-2010, 10:53 AM
Yep, all DA from 89-93 have the same brake setup

but with the cost of that plus shipping..i would suggest maybe look at local DBA or RDA Slotted disk..they are pretty good too

having brembo disks is just a bling factor i think lol but its all up to you...they def look good!

jeff_inauen
18-03-2010, 10:57 AM
ive always wanted the dc2 brembo setup, but i dont have thousands laying around.
they do look good, thats true.. lol

my mechanic has a good hook up with rda, so im waiting on a price from him.

if theres not much difference in price i think ill go with the brembos lol

Spoon DA9R
18-03-2010, 11:13 AM
dc2 don't have brembo setup at least not from factory...and even if you do get them the dc2 style caliper will fit on DA knuckles but you'll have to get special disks made up for it as the offset on the disk will need to be different.

jdm dc5 have brembos

i have dc2r brakes conversion thats pretty much all you need..does cost a bit though...wouldn't recommend it again...

jeff_inauen
18-03-2010, 11:19 AM
ohh yea my bad, dc5 i meant..

you have the 5 stud conversion dont you?

i was thinking about that also, 5 studs have better wheels lmao..

but if its to expensive i think ill just leave it as it is with slotted rotors and good pads

Spoon DA9R
18-03-2010, 11:25 AM
yeah i got the 5 stud then bought new rotors and pads and hub barring for it...and i did a lazy fit still gotta fix it up to get better camber in the front...

it does cost quite a bit...but that will give you extremely good brake balance...on my first DA i had spoon calipers from dc2r fitted in...excellent braking power however i lock up all the time as the the brake bias is too much and the back can't handle it, hence i did the 5stud this time around...

i wouldn't say you have better wheels with 5studs...there are some nice wheels for 4 studs too...

the 5stud conversion with rims all up was a bit over 2k...was going to go back to 4 stud..but i'll just loose too much money...

hey any one got a bonnet for a da,
preferably gun metal grey but if not dont matter,
also are series 1 and 2 bonnets diff??

basically working on getting the engine cooler, like that stuffs going, gonna try coating the extractors, ive got a thermal gasket inbetween intake head
im running mugen thermostat and fan switch,
but yeh thinkin of some sort grill change to the bonnet maybe.. but yeh if i can get a cheap bonnet ill experiment with this

jeff_inauen
19-03-2010, 07:46 AM
yea wow, just over 2k??
ill stick with the 4 studs.. lol
anwyays, i got a quote back from my mechanic
4 rotors came to almost $600!!!

so i ordered the brembos from the states,
smart me, i read the sale after ive paid, and came to the conclusion that they are not brembos, (well i dont think they are) lol
ahhh well, ill see in a couple of days, when i get them,, or if i get them

if so there brembo rotors however there brembo BLANK rotors, the company you buy them off simply put the cross drilled and slots into them. ive seen them in person they seem to b fine and they look good to

1st go to Honda and order qty 8 of part number 91608-SJ6-003. It is a small white rubber seal. They cost about $ 2.50 each 2nd remove the wiper arms and the wiper motor cowl. The wiper cowl is the long black panel under the wiper arms. Pop out the black circles and unscrew the white clips. You may also have to pull out the plastic pins under the rubber seal on the firewall side of the cowl. The panel is cumbersome. Use caution not to break the ends near the hood hinges. After you remove the cover there is another black cowl on the passenger side. This cowl covers the passenger cabin air intake. The leak is coming from the black plastic push screws that hold that cover on. When you remove the cover you can see the seals in the holes that the push screws were in. The rubber seal dry-rots over time and the sides split open. Water leaks in one drop at a time and adds up quickly. Once you have replaced the seals you should be leak free for another 9-10 years.

yea you can, as the other post by Jon 51 explains how to get under the cowl, but if it is majorly blocked like mine were, you'll have to remove the guards to clean all the crap out of the drains, or unless you get a metal coat hanger and just keep poking at it while having the hose running, lol

i also changed my rubber seals after reading the post by Jon 51, 8 seals cost me $25.30, but i realised you need another 3 for the driver side also..

hopefully it'll fix our problems

Anyone know what would be needed to replace my b16 block with a h22a block in a da? engine mounts I'm presuming being a h series, but what about other things with the engine fitment?

A lot of hard work. Not an ideal engine to be transplanted into the DA (or Civic for that matter) unless you want to go drag racing (that is, in a straight line). I won't go into all the reasons, you can read about that on the web. But you have to get your suspension right, for a start. You also need engine mounts from someone like Hasport. There is a book by Aaron Bonk (yes, that's his real name  ) that details all Honda engine swaps and what you need to do them, and this book is available online (if you know what I mean). Do a search.

Regarding the cross-drilled and slotted rotors, I personally believe these to be a waste of money that could be spent elsewhere to improve your car. They have the show appeal (bling factor, I suppose) but drilled rotors have been known to crack between the holes under stress especially if not done correctly. Slotted aren't too bad but you could get slotted front rotors here for much less. And don't forget there are OEM solutions for bigger brakes, you just need to do some research and reading, and plan accordingly. What about Type R calipers and brake lines for $50 (used) and front discs for $15 apiece. You have to get the discs redrilled to 4 x 100 but that is cheap and easy. So I'm saying a full Type R front setup for about $150. Look through the DBA catalog, the Bendix pad catalog online and GOOGLE U.S. based websites - there's a ton of info. If you cross-reference part numbers you'll see there is more than one model in the Honda lineup that uses Type R brakes.

There are even ways of getting a 5 stud conversion for about half what people are charging here for ITR kits. What I'm saying is don't just jump in and throw money away when a bit of research will surprise you in what you can do with your Honda (DA).

Better still (and it works for me all the time) is to use an appropriately sized Phillips head drill bit and put it in a half inch socket adapter, and use a torque wrench. Carefully leverage the bit and slowly ease the grub screw out. Some WD-40 won't hurt either.

Thanks for that. Any idea how much redrilling rotors to 4 stud costs?

Depends on where you get it done. Anywhere from a few beers to $100. The trick is finding someone who knows what they are doing and does the job properly, alignment wise. You need a template like a hub that you can reverse and lay on the new hub, mark the holes carefully, well spaced from original holes, and redrill slowly. An engineering workshop is a good start.

if i wouldve known that the type R brakes were so cheap i probably wouldve gone with them, but i needed new pads and rottors asap, so i found these for au$360.00 delivered.

i got a quote here just for rotors and they alsmot came to $600, so thought $360 was a good deal n cheap.

had them laying around in the garage,
but im sure you can find them in bunnings, just take 1 screw with you to match the thrad and width, the ones i replaced them with are slighly longer, but has no effect on anything

i personaly dont think the screws are necessary tho, on nissans there are none, the wheel hold them into place, but then again it is a different car.

I got a question that might sound really noob, but I just wanna be sure. I've got lowered springs, only about a 1.8" drop, if I was to buy sport shocks to go with it, does it make a difference if I buy any set or do I have to find ones specifically for lowering? cause there is a set of skunk2 DA9 shocks on Ebay I've had my eye on for a while, but it doesn't say anything about lowering.

Hey guys....long time no see. I've got a DA suspension question.

What I *think* I know so far (pls correct me if I'm wrong):

Springs:
- interchangeable with EG Civics and DC2 Integras (and EK???)

Front shocks:
- interchangeable with EG/DC2 Integras, front forks needed.
- directly interchangeable with EF Civic

Rear shocks:
- directly interchangeable with EF/EG/DC2

1. Do the stock springs from a EG or DC2 change the DA9 ride height?
2. When installing the front shocks + forks from a DC2/EG, does this also affect ride height?

lo0se3r
16-04-2010, 12:52 AM
> Springs are interchangeable with eg and dc NOT ek, tho height with vary depending on spring (eg springs will be lower)

> front shocks are interchangeable yes front forks are needed (i had dc2 shocks all round) same with ef tho ef shocks fit like a glove.

> rear shocks are also interchangeable with all 3, NOT DC2R or EG6

1. Yes they do eg will sit slieghtly lower/ dc2 will sit slieghtly higher

2. Yes it will, my fronts from a dc2 were higher then the rears :(

thanks mate - thats exactly what I needed to know. Looks like I must have some EG superlows on my car then....Koni's are on the highest perch and still having troubles with speed bumps...

looks like I need some new springs...

I've also got a boot leak....now looks like a kiddie swimming pool around my spare tyre. Its not a blockage in the drain tubes from the sunroof and boot seals are also fine. Anyone else had a similar problem?

> front shocks are interchangeable yes front forks are needed (i had dc2 shocks all round) same with ef tho ef shocks fit like a glove.

> rear shocks are also interchangeable with all 3, NOT DC2R or EG6

1. Yes they do eg will sit slieghtly lower/ dc2 will sit slieghtly higher

2. Yes it will, my fronts from a dc2 were higher then the rears :(

what would i have to do to make dc2r suspension/aftermarket coilovers fit in my Da??

Cool so when u had 19s did u need 2 roll the guards or anything?

The advice I've been given so far on rim size from both friends and staff in wheel/tyre shops varies.

"17s are gay. No one gets 17s anymore. You'll regret it. Go at least 18s"

"18s will feel like your driving a shopping trolley. Get 16s max with decent rubber"

"17s are the most practical. Tyres are cheaper"

and then the above "18s wont fit an integra"

So can u see why I'm a little confused? lol So are there any real advantages/disadvantages to getting 16,17or 18s for my da? (obviously excluding the price of the rims)

i personally think 18s "look" too big for the car, mostly cuz u cant get enof rubber around it ull have a very low profile on it, when i went rim shoppin 16s were impossible to come by
so i got the 17s.

19" on a 4cylinder car Sporty..
20" Blingy..
21" Custom Stud rims, just means your spoilt lol

----

19" did scrub coz my car is lowered.. but if it was stock height id have no worries, they were 19" with Ultra Low Profile tyres.

if u wana put 20's.. i can help u.
Just the fronts were gona struggle with... need a big rubber hammer :) and a jack lol. a grinder would also help.
21" will require u to roll your guards professionally totally if your car is lowered.

The bottom line is when you go to register your car with anything bigger than 15s, which is an allowable +1 in size (at least here in NSW) the workshop doing your rego check will fail your car due to oversized wheels and tyres. Now this may not necessarily happen because some workshops aren't fussed by it but more and more are. Because the RTA and Police are being more vigilant in following up those workshops where cars are pulled over for random safety checks (pod filters/exhausts/lowered/etc), and have been passed for rego. The workshop that did my Blue slip for regoing the Yellow DA failed the 17s I put on it (initally), meaning I had to swap back to OEM for the subsequent check. The workshop said they know people will just go home and change their wheels but they aren't liable if that happens as they passed the car in OEM form and what happens after is not their concern.

Having said all that, wheels and wheel sizes are like women's fashions. They change every 6 months or so, and everyone follows because they don't want to be seen to be unfashionable.

So just get whatever you feel comfortable with. My personal opinion is anything over 17s is a very harsh and uncomfortable ride in the long run, especially with lowered suspension.

always keep your OEM wheels, suspension, and airbox, because you will be using them again over n over if you put bling wheels on your car just to clear defects

Not the sort of thing you should be admitting to on a public forum. You need to realise that a number of public authorities monitor these and other forums for illegal activity. Dodging the inspection process does no-one any favours especially if your car is unroadworthy (not that I'm saying yours is!).

hey boys .. gota quick question..
i flew over a speed hump .. literally flew.

Bumper didnt hit the ground or nothing.. but something came loose? not sure what it is.. but the Right and Middle section of my bumper is VERY loose.. wobbles n shit when i move it with my hand..
all the screws and shit are on there..

Any ideas? is there something in between? When i hold the side near the wheel up tightly.. then the bumper becomes nice an tight so i thouht it was there.. i just re-did the screws there fine? its still loose as ?

can anyone help?

edit: by right i mean DRIVER SIDE

Spoon DA9R
05-05-2010, 07:26 AM
There is a bit of white plastic that connects to the chassis where that 2 screws on the side goes in, that probably came lose on the inside, undo the 2 screws and pull the bumper out a little and you'll see if its close ( it should be screwed into the chassis with another 2 screws...i swear our cars uses too many screws nuts and bolts)
or undo your indicator light and remove it, look inside you'll see there should be 2 big size14 bolt that bolt something to the chassis, those might have came lose.
or else, the rail frame that holds the bumper (which is the thing the 2 big size14 bolts are for) either broke somewhere
or open ur bonnet, look inside the bumper maybe the bumper is not connected to the frame rail anymore

have u got a digital copy of the da9 user manual.. it shows everything you need to take every part of the car to peices and back again..

google integra ls or 1989-93 integra user manual.. theres a site that lets you download the zip file for free then you just extract it all and it comes up with PDF files of everything from body to electricals to engine

if somebody knows the website that'd be alot more help

that black cylinder you are referring to i believe its the fuel filter...its a MUST dude! lol

honestly, anything that you've stripped out in the past is NEEDED. unless its the air resonator pipes and stuff like that..

my suggestion is..if you don't know what it is...you'll most likely need it
