haha Thanks man  nothing major this time, just a service, new catch can setup and a bigger vacuum box for my quads. As well as new drive shaft boots.

Dude, I have riding the Lid for about 15 years as well. Love it. Just have to drive like 2 hours to the closest decent wave :o sucks, but worth it when its on.

I finially checked on the map where ya are, super close to Andy! i was just down in St kilda for a week a while back,ya might have seen the pics already - link (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?131971-Beeza-does-Melbourne-the-Yarra-Valley-dandenong-ranges-and-Phillip-Island!)

So nice down there!! I was really impressed, loved it!

So have U driven great ocean road a few times? :) THAT'S what I really wanna do!

I'm about half hour drive from his old workshop in Ringwood so wasn't too bad. I have driven the GOR a couple of times, but it is so far away and gets a lot of traffic so not really worth the drive unless you have a big group going, which doesn't seem to happen anymore. To be honest most of the best roads in VIcco are at or really close to my house in Healesville. That and the Mt Baw Baw road, but that is also ages away from my place.

Mt Baw Baw > Reefton Spur/Black spur > GOR.

Cheers for that, great to know Mike!

Well today I used done some pre-summer polishing/protecting of the body work on the car.

I used meguirs scratch X 2.0,then polish and wax.I did 1/3 of the car,it took 2 1/2 hrs and looks Brilliant. The scratch X 2.0 takes out all the small scratches, just what my car needs.

finally able to get the car back on the road after a full rebuild to the D16, needed new rings, con rod bearings, thrust bearing, valve stem seals, new clutch. also lightened the flywheel, ported the intake and exhaust's, Valve regrind and reseat. currently driving it on the break in period but absolutely feel its pulling alot more power than the stock motor ;D

I like the garnish on the door sills, looks cool

I have been up all night getting the car ready for autosalon. Literally just finished now at 4am... (sort of finshed, still needs a vacuum) I Lowered it to the lowest the Buddyclubs RSD's could go (prob not as low as i had hoped but low enough :) ), fitted my EK9 door visors (pain in the ass...) Fitted my super hot spoon wipers (sik), made a bracket and mounted up the new Vacuum box for the quads, Put the freshly painted front bar on ( had to put that back together - fogs, winglets, grill etc) Also had some new T1R's fitted today, now i have a small amount of stretch action going on haha It has been a long night :/ sigh.

no primer... just 4 coats... and i used VHT Caliper paint... $16.95 @ Auto Barn...

used a wire brush to scrub the outside and sprayed it with K&H Wax and grease remover (degreaser solvent - quick dry), then used the heat gun on it to make sure it was 100% dry... after that just 4 light coats of the VHT Caliper Paint... the longest part was waiting for each coat to touch dry 100% before putting the next coat on... about 10 mins in between each coat...

CBF taking photos of it right now because it was a real tricky piece of work getting it in with the bracket and all the rest of it... lol... on that note, the power gain is noticable on a D-Series engine... had a turbo-charged subaru outback with a nice exhaust on it give me a run at a set of lights... but i stopped trying at 60km/h because i'm good lil boy ;)

All depends on the policeman unfortunately... A mate of mine had CAI setup, pod down inside the front bar and they still put it down as a defect. simply because it wasn't stock.... They can pretty much defect anything they want to be honest.... Meh, don't worry about it man, the sound and slight power increase are worth the tiny risk

Not sure where Healesville is (NSW / Sydney i'm guessing), but in QLD they generally don't cause too much issue with things like this... the only time they go thru ur car with a fine tooth comb is if ur acting like a complete twat and deserve to get defected... with all the hooning laws up here its hard for ppl doing dodgy stuff to get away with it anymore... as long as the car isn't slammed to the shit-house and looks respectable and ur not driving ridiculously they'll leave u alone... exposed they'll put on a turn, but the if its covered by at least a heat sheild they don't worry... still got all the stock parts handy anyway just incase ;)

there great i also have them on my ES and they are awesome, been thru many track days.

i took it for a drive last nite and all was set on 0 and it felt awesome, it stiffened up the car alot and took all the roll out. i also changed the spring rate when i ordered them so these are a bit stiffer then the usual EK spring you get with them.

the EK is a track only car.

mugen_ctr
04-09-2010, 06:00 PM
what are the spring rate for BC? Just curious as im wanting to buy these in the near future....
Isnt the Ek9's running some where around 8-9kg/mm factory? so these coilovers would some what needa be around 10-12kg/mm to put perform ek9 suspension right

eeKayFouR
04-09-2010, 06:05 PM
i think when ordering BC, you can specify what spring rates you want. 12F 10R sounds good :D but you have to put up with the harsh ride lols

Riced_Civic
04-09-2010, 06:14 PM
yes like eekayfour said when u order BC u can specify what spring rates u want. i choose the 12f 10R, as per what its suppose to be 12/6, which is really off if u ask me.

Hardrace stuff is AWESOME!! i am rockin there Spherical trailing arm bushing. spot on gear. Not sure on those BC's to be honest, but then i haven't tryed them so i can't say much. They just seem to remind me of all the rest of the generic coil over brands eg. D2, HSD, K-sport etc. Can't wait to be out on the track with you and your EK mate

mugen_ctr
04-09-2010, 08:17 PM

i know there is no turbo yet and thats because i want to run the b18c for a few weeks before turboing it

and i know it's a mess valve cover will be getting painted, wires and hoses tucked a lil as well as catch can and coil will be mounted differently

i couldn't fit my injen intake on as the edelbrock sits lower than the oem manifold :(

so looks like i will need a new intake pipe for the turbo aswell

cannon exhaust install fail over the weekend :( however getting it installed professionally quite cheap tomorrow morning :D costing me a little extra because i won't let them hack apart my stock exhaust, just incase I want to change it back... and I'm asking for the stock exhaust back as well, which means fabricating new piping which also means its costing me $90 instead of $60... but still... can't complain...

Integra Blades VS EK4 Wheels.....
Changed them back to EK4 ones as the blades had bald tyres.
What do you guys think of polished EK4 wheels?

http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/327/01092010015.jpg (http://img690.imageshack.us/i/01092010015.jpg/)

http://img826.imageshack.us/img826/2881/01092010018.jpg (http://img826.imageshack.us/i/01092010018.jpg/)

I like the blades (very rare to see) - they give the car a bit more of an edge being polished. What size are they - 16s? EK4s are ok on hatch (seen some on sedans and just doesn't look right IMO), but if you polished up the EK4s they'd look pretty schmick too... my 2 bobs worth anyway :)

last time i got EPa'd i put on a tiny small axle back with a huge big fat muffler with a prob 1" tip on it and it literally read exactly on the limit. he passed it though so got the job done.

got my wheel alignment done at Donnallans down in Box hill for now as i cbf goin to centerline as its far as for me to get there just for an alignment.

i will go to center line later on to get all the corner weighting, dampers and rebound set up done later on down the track when the EK get a little more serious.

Centreline??? where and what place is that? i am assuming they specialise in that sort of thing? got some more details for me?

Donellians in Box Hill were absolute pricks to me last time i went there for an alignment. I left my car there with a sheet of the specs that i wanted, camber, caster, toe etc and they were like "yeah sweet as mate, no worries, come back in an hour and we will be done" went back in an hour and my car was on the machine and the guy says to me "mate, we didn't do anything to your car, it will take us too long to adjust it because of the camber arms" "we can make more money just buy doing normal wheel alignments and with your car it will just take too long and we won't make any money, so take it somewhere else"... All said in a bit of an asshole voice too. Never again to that place.......... :thumbdwn:

I took it to the Dunlop centre out near the city, can't remember which town exactly but they adjusted my car in about 30 minutes to the exact specs I wanted. I would go back there but was soo far away. will if i have to though :)

yeah centerline specialise in car set up for track work, they do weighting, alignments ect, ect. ill get back to u with more info on centerline 2morrow and get u some exact details.

yes i agree about donnallans now, i think its cos the older EK model they use the fork type camber arms and it makes them do more work so they get lazy and do a rush job. i was just there just to get the car goin straight with just small camber adjustments so it wasnt to bad.

yeah its a struggle. engine number is really the only thing that i will struggle with and possibly the ITB's even though i can cover them up with a boxed closed setup. I have a spare axle back with tiny tip and i still have the original interior and exterior parts, i can raise it easy enough and my tires are fine for roadworthy. My SRS light is consistently on which could work against me as well... engine number is my achilles heel...

Just hope it goes all smooth for you, best to get stock steering wheel in, if they find out u changed ur steering wheel, ur b in a pickle of a fight... or just cut the wire for srs light..... btw, Iev had few mates not pass because they had coil-overs, than again some who have since they didnt reliaze they had them in an jacked it up lol, so its really hit an miss, just hope they dont pick up on ur coil-overs, or else u be goin back there again

If ur catch can is vented atmo, that also mite be a problem, but easy one to fix, but other than that, id assume everything else should b smooth sailing for you

And i also believe u need a recline-able seat to pass seeing you got that maaaad as bride bucket seat, as in the event of a accident the rear passengers cant exit through drivers side, as again friends have also been defected for that reason, thats all i can think of atm to help you

if u needa borrow stockie suspension, let me know :)

i've had mates get fuked up there hard.....
but call me if u want and i'll try best with some pointers in getting away with it....
they will basically turn the car upside down and inside out to find anything they can.........
example, my mates r32 skyline......we spent 3 days making all back to dead stock, there nuthing to pick on it..........in the end they fuked him for having the parcel shelf (metal section) slightly trimmed to fit the speakers...(structually damaging the car) so they cancelled the rego untill he got it all fixed....

Hey guys thanks for all your affoers for help and advice  much appreciated. But to be honest I am throwing in the towel and canceling my rego myself. Car will become track only so won't be completely gone, just not on the streets anymore. This day was always going to come eventually, I had a pretty good run driving it daily in this state for almost two years without hassels.

I will never drive in williamstown again btw.......

Like I said, I can't get out of it when it comes to engine number and not being engineered/registered to the car. And like you said IEVAQ8, they will not give me any chances and will go through everything, remember I have drilled holes in the floor of the car for things like harness mounts, battery in the boot was done by me, more holes drilled there. I'm running ITB's which I really don't think the EPA will like to much, even if i do box them up, which I can but I don't think it will make much difference.

I can conceal the ECU because it looks like stock anyway, coil-overs could be a problem no doubt, i have the seats and all interior trim so interior prob isn't a problem. SRS light, i can just remove the globe so thats not a problem. Seeing as how thorough they will be I really can't see them letting me go.

Gameover for me, for now anyway. Also gives me an excuse to take my civic even further in regards to track work ;) still dissapointing, i just got it looking just as I had wanted it, lowered to its lowest point and poked out wheels that didn't scrub at all. Just means now, i have to go through the pain of getting permits to move the bastard around....

Thanks again for the help guys

its a such a shame that it had to end like this, ur car was by far one of the best looking one in the country, i agree Williams town ruined it for you man, as every other meet was fine, but i guess like u said, gives u more of a reason to do outrageous mods to it, maybe rear diffuser an welded in roll cage?
The beast shall be lost on the roads but not forgotten, whats gonna b ur new daily?

We'll see how much further i take it. i have a few surprises in the garage that need to be installed still and a cage isn't out of the question but hard to justify spending money on it now. we'll see what happens. I have said similar things befor and then done the complete opposite.

New daily will be my parents 80 series cruiser for a while untill i can afford a decent daily. Or possibly i might drive my mates VR manual v6 wagon :/ we'll see.

Thought it i'd let ya know that i just found out Atjo with the air-bagged white honda odyssey has suffered the same fate as me. He was seen driving in point cook and received the same letter, to be looked over at williamstown this sat........ no one is safe it seems :/

I went to Autobahn to get my ITB filters. The guy came out and measured my trumpets inner and outer size, called uni-filter and ordered them, came a week later and were spot on fitting. Some of the people that work at big places like that are pretty on it.

Usually with clutches etc you go by engine code to order the right part.

Man, i'm not gonna bother trying to get it rego'd/RWC untill i want to part out and sell. Eventually I ill part out completely and put the car back to stock (b16 motor, interior etc) and then try sell the car in stock form. I would love to go full track spec (welded cage etc) but hard to justify the extra money needed, now that I have a Mortgage to worry about.... Although now that i don't have to worry about driving it on the road, it does give me a lot more options. We shall see how far i take it, i'm not even sure myself.

An engineerings certificate fixes the problem with driving a modded car on the roads and it always will. For us enthusiasts if we dont do things right and dont get an engineerings certificate and so on then when we get caught we just have to accept the consequence because at the end of the day they allow us to have modded cars and do what we want to them as long as theres an engineerings certificate as well.

mugen_ctr

just for argument sake, even so if we do get engineers cert, odds are, they'l always find a way, an will find a way to defect the car, thats just the reality, few mates have that engineering cert for intercooler an seats, an in the end, still got done... pretty much sums it... we have no proper say, even with that cert, its still down to the coppers discretion really.... :(
