If I wasn't so sick I prob would have caused a fuss but yeah. If the marks don't come off I'll just take it up with the uni.
Thinking of buying some Koni Yellow shocks from a distributor on ebay. They're height and damper adjustable. Anyone had any experience with these? My springs aren't stock, slightly lower than stock will I have to purchase a new set anyway?

Did you ask the seller how much he wanted for shipping? That's pretty expensive already, i'd just go some second hand coilovers. There was a set of koni yellows in melb for $600 but was too much cos i could get coils for that much or a tiny bit more
Thinking of switching to coils soon and ditching my front mudflaps/lip. Not feelin the 2 finger gap up front lol got a bit of star gazer spec going on atm with the lower rear

looks like they are only able to adjust stiffness, which is to be expected. my friend had those on his S15 and they were really good shocks. however your car will still sit at it's current height if you retain your current springs. my friend had his koni's paired with a set of whiteline springs and it handled nicely.

Yeah pretty much did not change a thing looks-wise before/after... it "felt" smoother and there was probably added protection to the paint from the wax adhered to the clean surface but just felt like i wasted my time cos i was expecting paint to look respray new lol i guess spending >$150 (and 10 hours) on it you'd expect a lot
edit: fuarkkk that's clean as man, really like ya car. anything planned for it?

Hey boys i need some opinions. Not sure if i should go coilovers and go lower. This car is daily driven, right now i'm having no troubles with the height on the roads i take. I wanna avoid having to roll guards and buying camber kits as well as staying legal height of course.

Fair enough, to be honest it didn't make as much of a difference as i thought it would but it definately looks heaps cleaner and glossier. +1 for the smoothness and protecting the paint, glad i only have to do that every 6 months too haha
Yeh i'll be looking at a few different mods, first major one will most likely be coilovers. But i'm waiting till i move house as my current driveway has an awkward little drop in it and i'll scrape every time i park my car at home if i lower my car. It already goes close to hitting at stock height lol i've put on some oem window visors and a spoon shift knob but thats the extent of things atm. thinking of doing a 4 point rear strut bar and a 2 point front strut bar soon
I mainly tried to apply any wax/polish to the microfibre/foam applicator i was using instead of just pouring or spraying it straight onto the body work. I did get some small spots on the black trims and in between the doors. But i just made sure once i finished that i went over and wiped all of them away or buffed them out

Well your car is pretty new anyway so would have been shiny regardless.
Let us know how long the 'smooth wax feeling' stays on. Mine only lasted like 2-3 weeks in dry weather with good surface prep. If no prep and rainy weather, the coat disappears after about a week. Too lazy to reapply cos it takes frickin ages to wash > dry > dewax > wax.
When i got overpolish/overwax the next day i went over all the trim with meguiars trim detailer to blacken them up again to get rid of the white bits, and used a toothpick to get the dried wax out of the cracks (must have pushed them in when i buffed). You did yours pretty careful though so shouldn't have to do that shit

approx 1.5" front 2" rear. i wanna go 2.25" front and 3" rear but then im gonna have issues... and can't go that low unless i'm on coils otherwise cars gonna fkn bounce 2m into the air on bumps and shits gonna scrub all over.

Hmm... i'm undecided about selling up and getting something else at the end of this year (cl9 or dc2/r). Maybe i'll get coilovers if the shocks blow. Haven't driven or been in a car with coils so i don't really know how it feels tbh. Some say it's too stiff for daily

Wasn't done today, but I recently had a major service done on my car, tis running exactly how it should apart from a few problems that were found on the way. Problems were:
- r00ted passenger drive shaft
- custom rice muffler knocking and generally being/looking/sounding gay
- busted front and rear engine mounts
- brake pads on their way out
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!! :thumbdwn:
Time to fix up all the problems
To fix the muffler problem I sourced a 2nd hand HKS HiSilent catback exhaust. Had it installed by Muffler Bro's in Footscary and TA DA, no more gay raspy exhaust!! Bigger piping means my engine breathes that iddy bitty bit better ;)
Also ordered a replacement passenger drive shaft along with:
- New Hardrace engine mount kit (all four mounts)
- Hawks HPS brake pads front and rear
And while I was at it I ordered a new Injen CAI and a hydroshield for that lil iddy biddy piece of mind.
Will be calling OTR tomorrow to book the car in to get some BC BR Coilovers installed as well. Cars currently on lowered springs with stock shocks, feels pretty homo and I want a lil bit more droppage over all.
Oh and this for the lols: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/220578417326?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

2" front sounds hella nice. If you're still on blades, go sunken battleship star-gazer look and slam the rear tuck half the wheel lol

N+ are definitely great. can be just firm (for daily use) or quite stiff depending on how you adjust them :)
act_gooner
09-09-2011, 01:15 PM
What's too stiff for the street? I think the spring rates of the ones I'm looking at are F - 10K and R - 8k. I'm not too fussed about a bumpy ride but I don't want to be overly uncomfortable since my car does a fair few km's.
Super-DA9
09-09-2011, 01:40 PM
N+ is 8K front and 6K rear I'm pretty sure. so 10K front will be a fair bit more solid.
I can take you for a drive in mine sometime ross, if you want to get an idea of what the ride quality will be with coilovers.

Buddyclub N+ man, paid $1300 new for them which I'm pretty sure is not too bad a price. Yeah 2" drop at the front is perfect with the blades. The rear actually looks good where it's at now, but yeah wouldn't mind going another half inch lower.
Good to hear Alex that its finally in,
lol I hate that problem when the rear is just abit higher than the front. But just takes 30-40mins DIY. From my experiance I reckon the N+ is the best for a daily Integra, you can go lower and still have them adjustable settings. Plus that quality assurance that these coilovers shouldn't let you down
Thanks Moiz :) Yeah the N+ are amazing man, straight out of the box. I've hardly played around with the preload and stuff and they already feel so good. Ride is pretty damn firm now, I'm using damper settings 10 clicks towards stiffest (out of 15 clicks) so there is entry more stiffness to come if I want. But it's already firm as, my cd player is skipping over the smallest bumps haha.

Anyone had experience with Omni? I've tried doing some research but pretty much everything seems outdated. Most people seem to say they're pretty comfy though, as opposed to when I did research on Skunk2 Pro S everyone complained that they were too stiff.

My mate has Skunk2 Pro-S's on his DC2. They're not bad, height adjustable etc although you can't adjust the damper settings. They feel nice though, pretty firm. But if I had the choice between the Pro-S and Pro-C's, I'd take Pro-C's.

Compression tested my engine the other day. I reckon the results are pretty good, pretty healthy numbers and really consistent. what do you guys reckon?
Cyl 1: 200Psi
Cyl 2: 197Psi
Cyl 3: 195Psi
Cyl 4: 202Psi
I've read that healthy numbers are between 180-220 so this seems pretty good :)

$185 per corner in 205/50/R15. I wanted to go 16's, but don't have the time to choose and order new rims. My current RE001's are screwed. The GSi is a great little car, I'm certainly under no delusions as to how fast it is/isn't, but it gives me pleasure through the windy's when pushed, and good tyres are a must.
I couldn't justify not spending the money, no matter what the car. Cheap tyres are bloody aweful.
charliebrown
12-09-2011, 05:41 PM
I have to disagree... i paid $105 a corner fitted and balanced for 205/45/16s. Only downside is that the rubber is porous so air leaks out (bout 2psi drop every month), which isn't a problem since i pump them everytime i fill up anyway. They brake/grip just as well as my old KU31s, not noisy, comfortable. I can still take corners at the same speed and feel secure that the tyres won't give out. Saved a few hundred and no regrets

Clearly you aren't happy with your car. You want a manual, you want VTEC. I think if you did end up getting a Civic, you'd probably be happy with it for the next few years, modifying it here and there until you're off your Ps. I just don't think that's something you'll get from your current car.

yeah but these low km, clean cars tagged with a pretty pricey tag are not going to do you any justice. in my eyes your just repeating the same mistake that you made the first time you bought your car and you will lose even more money. weren't these the features which made you pay what you did for your first car? but if it makes you happy that is all you need to buy a car

Yeah better take my time then and wait for 'DA 1' to pop up.
I want a B series so that rules out EG/EK without engine swaps, plus there is just too many of them going around in my area. Pretty much leaves DC2 and EM1. Both around the same level of performance, 1200kg 120kw/127kw. The EM1 being a 1.6 would have better fuel economy than the 1.8, although probably not much.
Stock or mildly modified? Some people say never buy modified cars cos they've been flogged... but some say modified cars are generally taken care of better cos the owners know their shit and care about the car

I believe it's ok to buy a modded one if the mods are only light. things like muffler, wheels, interior bits. stuff thats easily reversible. also buy a compression tester and ask the seller if they'll let you test the cars compression (takes about 20mins). if not, ask THEM to take you for a drive first, and see how they drive it. I looked at a jdm front one when I was looking for a DC2 and I mainly didn't buy it because the guy flogged the shit out of it when he took me for a drive lol

Would anyone be able to give me a realistic price tag for what my car would go for? I was planning to keep the wheels, but rest of the stuff would go with the car. You've seen what's on it from the pics i put up.
106xxx, auto, sub/amp, tinted, sunroof, lip, side and rear visors. Maybe chuck stock sussy back on.

No harm posting it up for how much you got it for, who knows someone might actually buy it. IMO i think you should sell all your parts, might get extra cash for them. If you dont really like the civics then you should just save up abit longer and get a VTIR/DC2R or something they're dropping in price. No point getting another gsi since your not fully happy without some vtec and you'll be in the same situation again.

Maybe see how much a dealer would take it for? Might be your best option tbh. I was at a dealership not long ago and just asked out of curiosity and they told me they'd give me 7-8k for it haha. Mines older than yours too.

I got it for 10k at 100xxx stock as a rock with broken thermostat... it puzzles me why the dealer didn't just change the thermo when they did the major service before selling
A lot of the money i spent on the car can't be sold like central locking, tint, sub and amp (cbf taking it out), visors are stuck onto the car, only worth a few hundred anyway.
My budget is around 12-13k (assuming my car goes for at least 6-7k), but i wanna save money for some light mods. And gotta think about insurance, DC2R would cost a lot more than a DC2 or civic.
gooner do you just go to a random dealer and ask them how much they'd buy your car for? and possible to play them off each other?

why not go for a eg with a b18c7 in it, theere pretty cheap these days and alot of fun.. i can compare ur car to my gsi, Had only done 100,000 manual tint sunroof sub amp major service done last year. When i was considering selling it,i could only see it selling for 5k MAYBE 6 if lucky. Since urs is auto i would expect 5k. Not trying to be a faukwit. But thats the price i think they sell for.

I think its possible to get 7k for your gsi with abit of luck. Just gotta target those people that just simply want a clean car and have no/little knowledge about integras haha. I had an auto bb6 prelude (non vtec) and i thought i wouldn't get more than 7k for it but some fob guy loved it cause it was clean and sold for more than what i expected LOL. Yeah, that's what I have at the moment. All the pipes, cement and connector cost me $50 from Bunnings. Only thing left is to find the speaker port [velocity stack]. It's a hell of a lot cheaper than buying an after market CAI/SRI and performs better from the tests of read in the past.

oh man you should see canberra, me and actgooner are probably the only people that don't have a falcodore hahaI used to be a Holden fan as a kid, watching Brock race at Bathurst and all that, but with the amount of dickhead Commodore drivers around (they seem to be much worse than Falcon drivers), the fact that Ford make decent products like the Focus (and compete in WRC), the fact that I hate most other GM brands, and that we now own a Falcon wagon, I've definitely switched to preferring Ford. Never thought I'd say that, but Commodore drivers are just atrocious.
