Fuarkk to jack my car up, gotta scissor jack the side to get the front high enough to slide trolley jack under. Then have to jack the rear up using scissor jacks while fronts lifted to be able to fit jack stands. Same thing backwards to take car down for both sides :( really need a lower jack that lifts higher, can barely fit my head under the damn car.

anyone got tips on how to change o2 sensor for the teg? i dont have a big enough wrench, toolset only goes up to 19mm. and its on hella tight + rust

Lukey

drive onto some planks of wood.

use wd7 or whatever it is on the thread bit.

got a shifter thats big enough?

remember that brute force wont undo things, its shocking the thing that will undo it

Driving onto planks of wood only solves the firs tproblem, still doesn't jack high enough to allow jack stands to fit under. Maybe drive back wheels onto wood too?

Don't have a shifter, don't have 22mm open end wrench. Can't even brute force the lil shit, can only apply torque pretty much from my fingers, can't even use forearm

oh and also do i need to disconnect battery before i do this shit? i forgot today and unplugged the sensor oops

if u cant get it on stands to get under it properly to get enough leverage dont bother.

you wont have to disconnect the battery. just dont start the car without it to avoid making the cel come up. find yourself some leverage. if you cant get it off. it'l be 10bucks at an exhaust shop where they have a hoist to make life easier.

just do what I did and drop that whole part of the header out, go and get yourself the right size spanner from supercheap for like $8. Then step on the pipe, use your weight and TURN IT LIKE A MUTHAFKA.

wd40 also helps to release it.

What I did to my integra tonight:

removed the stock intake manifold and throttle body because this baby came in the mail today:

http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss263/soulbinder/photo-24.jpg

although this is exciting, taking the stock manifold of was THE BIGGEST PAIN IN THE ASS.

the PCV valve broke when I pulled it out too, god dammit.

YESSSS!!!

Make sure you scrape off EVERY SINGLE remnant of the old manifold gasket off the head. Razor blade works well.

And be very mindful of your knock sensor. The plug off the OEM manifold which is deleted when putting the S2 manifold on is in same section of harness as the knock sensor. When I did the swap I accidentally snapped my knock sensor in half. Limp mode is no fun :/

Yup. I would get a right size spanner (shifters can be dodgy), put it on the sensor, hold it tensioned and then bash the end of the spanner with a hammer. Failing that, slot some long metal piping over the spanner and either turn and or tension and bash again. I stripped an entire car down to its bare chassis using these techniques. Remember, leverage is your friend..

Is it dented or just chips of paint ? If you want it really cheap just sand it back, prime, then get some colour code mixed up from autobarn, mask it up then spray ?

Worth a try, would look better then what it is now haha. I actually have some spots like this on my bumper i still gotta try fix up.
If i get some paint soon, ill try it first haha then show you some pictures :3

see how it's cracked all the way up to the headlight, i'm going to peel all that paint off and sand all of that right?

charlie, you get what you pay for mate.

im with racv, and my premium is fcken heaps, but a peace of mind.

with racv:

1. your car is hit ( fault or not at fault)
2. put a claim through
3. get a quote from your choice of repairer
4. assessor comes to you to see if quote reflects the damage
5. if all good, racv pays out and repair starts.

no bs having to go to aami inspection bay, then get your car repaired by some random shop

then again ultimately its whether you can and are willing to pay more for better service

nice work..

how would you describe the clutch + fly combo in comparision to stock..

is the feel of the pedal alot heavier?
is there still a fair bit of slippage or does it grab tight immediately..

i guess im asking of its street + traffic friendly

if by that you mean how it would behave with broken mounts then yeah it would be disastrous lol

but I'm changing over all the mounts to innovative/AVID mounts.

yeah it's a kit from the U.S. actually, you'll be able to find it at around $550 posted on ebay america, which is an amazing deal considering to buy the flywheel itself from a retailer here it would be around $700!

I always used 98 and got 10-13L/100km, just tried two tanks on 91 to feel the difference.

I highly doubt going from 91->98 increases fuel economy that much? negligible in my case, maybe +0.5L/100km at most

It's a habbit now, and whenever I see my dad using regular unleaded I always think that his some cheapo. Even if its abit higher cost than regular, its worth it. Setting budget at 12ish, ideas? can't quite afford a cl9 lux with that unfortunatelyI'd go a VTEC Civic or S14 200SX. It'll be good when you get into a manual! It doesn't even need to be that quick, it'll be so much more fun just having a manual box.

If I had my time again, I wouldn't have bought the Integra. It's a nice car for what it is, but it's not what I want. I compromised, because I was tired of shopping, but I really wanted RWD. I was originally looking at Civics, and I should have stuck to my guns, because I'd be happier with an EG or EK... I'll tidy up the few rough edges, and sell it next year.

Not long man, you eventually get the hang of it after riding the clutch a few times, don't be discouraged. If you go down 98 fuel path, you should pour 20 litres max at a time, and when you see the 91 prices drop to about 135-138 (98 be around 150-155) then you pour more otherwise you're gnna pay fricken drug money full tank when you pour at 160

Every tom dick and charlie has a ****in civic... and you're off your Ps yeah? Why s14 and not s15?

Approx how long does it take to be able to drive stick smoothly ya reckon? Not long at all, really. It doesn't matter how much you suck at it in the first hour or two, because it'll just click all of a sudden, and you'll wonder why it ever seemed difficult. You'll probably still have the odd dodgy moment every now and then for a few weeks, and of course it'll no doubt take a few weeks of driving before you feel properly settled, but it really doesn't take long before you can at least drive it well enough to get where you need to go. Nothing wrong with riding the clutch and taking your time with the shifts for a little while, and gradually improving. Better to take your time than slam it into second instead of fourth and **** your synchro. The Teg is very forgiving as far as manual boxes go, so even if I wasn't always in the right gear, it never stalled on me or complained too much.

Yeah, everyone has a Civic, but everyone has an Integra as well. They're everywhere. But if I was going to go FWD, I feel as if I should have gone the smallest, lightest I could get, and that's the Civic. But I'm off my Ps, yeah, and I won't be getting comprehensive insurance, so there's nothing stopping me from upgrading to a Silvia. The S14 is cheaper, and less common, than the S15. They're basically identical mechanically, so while the S15 technically looks better, the rarity and value of the S14 adds to its allure for me. Plus, I was very, very close to purchasing one before I got my Integra, so the S14 has become the one that got away for me. I originally wanted an S13, but finding a decent example proved almost impossible, and I decided I'd be better off with a newer, Australian-delivered, model.

haha, true. But i didnt friggin redline it. Hit vtec once and that was it.

Yeah you gotta hit it (vtec, not the redline) in a test drive to make sure it comes on okay. You can always politely ask the owner first. They are normally in two minds and it's in that time frame you give it a whorl!

Good luck with the sale, bro! How it goes smoothly.

Ha, yeah, you may be actually. Someone might be.

So what does everybody think I should be asking for price wise?

It's a 1999 model with <120,000 on the clock.
Full Honda Dealer service history.
Timing belt changed at last service. New battery.
One previous owner. Never been over 3500 rpm during my ownership. Mechanically perfect.
Engine bay immaculate.
Completely stock.
Front bar needs a touch up due to scrapes, and there is a small scuff on another panel, but otherwise it's clean.
I think the stereo is no longer working, so I can sell it with a new head unit.

Sigh. I'm going to talk myself into keeping it. But yeah, any ideas what I should be asking for?

About 7 would be ok but not an easy sell

5-6 for easier sale

Indie

Hm. I was thinking that 7 was pretty reasonable. 5 is definitely too low.

Indie it would help if you said GSI, VTI-R or type r

By the way people are voting and u haven't been passed 3,500 rpm it must be a GLI

I've seen GLI's sell for $7k only due to the high asking price or VTI-R owners lol

But yes, GSi, hence why I never rev the thing just to hear VTEC, haha.

Carsales has a lot of GSis around the 7k mark that are at much higher kays than mine, and no service history, so I'd probably price it there I think.

Looking nice, by the way!

Preludes are slow dude. Weigh in at 1380kg and have a laggy as fck gearbox plus add the fact that Vtec redlines at like 7600rpm and drops out of Vtec when shifting. Honestly manual gsi would maul it .

charliebrown
22-10-2011, 11:19 PM
As a daily though, the prelude has leather interior, cruise control, arguably a nicer interior. And for some reason chicks love preludes, i always see some asian babes driving them lol

Do me a favor before you decide on a prelude. Go test drive a DC2R and then a prelude , then make your decision ..

Do me a favor before you decide on a prelude. Go test drive a DC2R and then a prelude , then make your decision ..

really depends on his budget though...

That prelude would be a massive upgrade from that auto dc4 of yours, charlie, but have you considered a dc2 vtir? they are in that price range also..

depends what you wan't out of the car to as well.

23-10-2011, 12:04 AM
Cousin of mine just got a VTIR recently, and it's actually quite close to the dc2r, minus all the cool recaro's lighter weight blablabalbalabl but it drives pretty damn well.

23-10-2011, 12:06 AM

@Khang Bursting bubble here: VTI-R is no where near a TYPE-R IMO

I've owned both and the TYPE-R has crazy amount of handling along with such a smooth stock ride whilst the VTI-R was still smooth but was missing those ultimate mods to make it feel like a perfectly steered vehicle. My old prelude sure did accommodate more towards the DC2r handling and smooth ride but was only lacking the recaro's lol it is still a car which makes you feel like your driving a toy car and handles great!

Bak on track if you desire a prelude as a daily that is good dude just depends what you want and it's really only up to you, you will be driving it and loving it just like you did with yours now

@blastnpast

Maybe the condition of the VTI-R I drove was really good, I admit I can't push it's handling as hard, however I found it's power delivery quite comfortable, and linear. Don't get me wrong, I bought the R for a reason :D.
